Ideas for alcohol as a gift

I'm leaning toward this, even though there are some very good ideas on here, can you say birthday!. So Glad to hear she liked it. I just checked the ads for this week and it is in the right price range,

is $39 a decent price? It was Patron Silver.

Yep, pretty good price. I was looking a WDW the other week and Patron Silver was 60 something dollars.....but, that is WDW, not the place to buy liquor.;)

Pinnacle whipped cream vodka - this is pretty tasty! We had it just straight with ice

I am referring to vodka that tastes like whipped cream - not the whipped cream with vodka in it. I know that is something different and have heard from one person they didn't like it.

Any other flavored vodkas would probably be nice - maybe some cherry + a 6-pack of redbull?

Tried this on Christmas Eve mixed with Root Beer. Very yummy. Tasted like a root beer float.

has anyone tried the cotton candy vodka? what did you put it in? I can not drink it straight I tried with the whipped cream. not for me!

Kahlua is a coffee liqueurs that mixes well from everything from white russian to hangover coffee.

if you know what he's already tried and likes, go off of that and try to branch out a little into something new, so if he's already tried different vodkas or rums, maybe look at scotch as already suggested (Macallan and Glenmorangie are a couple of my favorites), usually the younger ones, 10-12 year, are easier for a first exposure than the older, smokier ones..... or bourbons (four roses, elijah craig, for a couple examples)

if you go with tequila (and he hasn't had much exposure to it), then look for a sampler pack, where you can get 3 versions (silver, reposado, anejo) in smaller bottles to try.... (actually, you can find the sampler pack type deals in a lot of different alcohols; which is nice since you can try a few different types and not be stuck with a large bottle of something you might not really like)

might also look at a bartending book, if he doesn't have one; so he'll have a good mix of recipes and the ins-n-outs of mixing drinks.

My hubby loves his Gold Label Johnnie Walker. I am saving up to buy him a bottle of the Blue label for his birthday but at $225 a bottle, it might not be this birthday!

Are you anywhere near a Wegmans? They have Johnnie Walker Blue label for $184. I was there yesterday and it was a display by the register. That is a significant savings from $225

dont get anything girlie. bottle of crown royal. that should answer that.
