Would love to getaway for a 2 nights during their midwinter break. Thought about Great Wolf Lodge but pricey plus I see "bedbugs " being mentioned in tripadvisor reviews. Yuck,.

Any other ideas? 3 teens - 17,15,14 and 9 yo?
Live in NY so should be close since I do not want to pay for airfare for 6.
Ideas?

Why not go snowtubing in PA? There are tons of places to stay that are cheap and decent. They aren't going to be the Ritz but they have places with nice cabins. You can get some great deals. Also, Lake George now has an indoor water park. I checked the prices the other day and they are running great specials.

Before we started to take Disney vacations during midwinter break, we would drive 45 minutes to a Howard Johnsons by the shopping mall, and we would stay for a few nights at the hotel. They had a regular indoor pool so we would spend some time there and we would also go shopping at the mall. Just like vacation, each of the kids got to buy something $20 or less. We would go out to eat for a meals and it was just fun to get away. We would bring Yahtzee and UNO cards and we were forced to "unplug" from our computers and video games for a couple of days. One time, we went to a nearby bowling alley and another time we went to the movies. With four kids these are activities we don't do a lot because we don't have the money, so it was fun for everyone to splurge but still keep it budget.
