I'm hoping to at least have one evening alone with dear husband during our vacation. If the stars align, maybe my mother will take the 6 kids back to the hotel for the evening, and he and I can do something nice together.

We don't drink, but are open to other options. We are staying on property at ASMo, so will be relying on Disney transportation.

I'd love to hear your suggestions!!

There are lots of fun things to do!

  • You could wander to the Worlds at Epcot and create yourself a dessert crawl! Share a dessert from some of the countries and then take on Illuminations with a cup of java!
  • Head to Downtown Disney, eat of Earl of Sandwich and watch the street entertainment or even people watch if you like that kinda thing.
  • Go to any of the resort restaurants and have a special dinner for the two of you and spend some time reconnecting WITHOUT interruption.
  • Or, just grab your bathing suits and do NOTHING at the resort pool! Swimming at night at is cool!

Downtown Disney has a bunch of options, and if nothing else, provides an excellent area to stroll and look around.

There are good restaurants, sometimes live entertainment (outside and at House of Blues, and other restaurants), and shopping. I believe there is a Splitsville there, and movie theater, and Cirque de Soleil.

:)

drinking is not a big thing at disney world to begin with so thats not the first place most people's minds would go for a couple to have a good child free time.

you could just stay at a park later and take your time walking around.
or you could go to a spa and get a massage or something.
or you could go out to dinner.

Haha I don't know about that- drinking is certainly a big deal at Disney- especially epcot.

For our couples nights we rotate between
drinking/eating around the world (you could just eat around the world) followed by illuminations

fancy dinner somewhere (Cali grill, artists point, sanaa, jiko, bluezoo, yachtsman are some of our favorites)

A night at jellyrolls piano bar (fun imo even if you don't drink)

People watching at a park and enjoying the evening entertainment (again this would usually include a drink but could be fun without too)

If you wanted to spend some money you could do a fireworks cruise or victoria and alberts

We aren't big drinkers, but we still have fun shopping and getting dinner at DTD, or walking around the World Showcase and getting dinner there. There's also mini-golf or monorail resort hopping - checking out the three monorail resorts, getting dinner at one, and maybe catching Wishes from the Poly.

Resort hopping, watching Wishes from the beach at Poly, watching the electrical water pageant from one of the resorts (I loved watching from the dock at Wilderness Lodge).

Also, can take time to explore and stroll a park by yourselves. At MK, I would love a night with Dh to just stroll down Main Street, and act like kids as we get on rides on our own.

dessert-hop - that's a great suggestion.

Ooh, you could also do the Wishes Dessert party!!!

I would love if my mom would take our 4 for an evening... but the stars are not about to align such for us! But if they were...............

I'd go for Epcot. It's the most "specific to WDW" thing you can do, you can plan it on an Epcot day, and your mom can just take the kids back around 7 or so, leaving you guys a few hours. I wouldn't bother w Illuminations - would just catch it from the corner of my eye while walking around and doing something else. Maybe eat in the Mexico pavilion, get a seat near the boats going by. Or Le Cellier and split an entrée.

I am going to disagree and I am a drinker and will drink when on vacation at Disney World.

To the OP - do whatever you and your husband want to do. This is YOUR night. You don't drink and you will still get your party started because your kids won't be with you but they are safe and sound. And that, to me, is the main reason for what you want to do. There are tons of non-alcoholic beverages all over the World.

Note that most of the drinks served in DW can be made as non-alcoholic versions - EG the Lapu Lapu at the Tambu Lounge. Possibly you could go "lounge" hopping at the deluxe monorail resorts.

I was mainly tongue in cheek - if you want it to be a big deal it is- of course they can still have a great time without drinking. I was pointing out what we do and it would still be fun without the alcohol

Where is this Jelly rolls Piano Bar you speak of??? Is it non-smoking?

It's at the Boardwalk. It is non-smoking, 21+ only admitted. There's a steep cover charge (around $10 pp I believe) and they don't serve food. It gets crowded so you should get there early. I believe things get going around 9pm. It's definitely more of a bar atmosphere so I would be a tad bored if I didn't drink, but if someone just wants to enjoy the music then it's a viable option.

While my wife and I will indulge in some adult beverages on our trips to WDW we don't make it a major part of our trip.

A suggestion that I would make is the boardwalk just outside of Epcot. There are some pretty neat things going on with the street performers and such. You can take the bus to Hollywood Studios and walk down the path to the boardwalk. If you get bored you can either walk back to HS or go into Epcot which are both short walks. As someone mentioned before there is Jelly Rolls that you can check out. It is a dueling piano bar which can be fun while drinking or not drinking. It is a bar though so people will be consuming around you. We have a similar dueling piano bar called "Howl at the Moon" which is very popular here in Indianapolis.

Another good idea would be to go to DTD. Plenty going on in the evening/night time.

All in all it's up to what you and your husband like to do. I'm sure that you will have no problem figuring something out.
