Ideas for a 1st grader's project book?

My first grader just made her own journal (with minimal help from mom) in word. We downloaded some clip art together, then she created a page for each day. It has:

-a clip art picture
-a title (Day ?) with a spot to fill in the date
-fill in the blanks:
weather?
where we went
where we ate B/L/D
my favorite thing today
my least favorite thing today

She learned how to insert the pictures and do copy/paste type stuff...set the fonts and fun things like that. She really surprised me with how fast she picked this up!

We printed the pages onto card stock, punched holes in them and put them in a 3 ring binder with pockets (for maps and such).

She decorated a page for the front of the binder with stickers from Michaels from the scrapbook section.

We left the backs of the pages blank so that we could glue in pictures later.

Sounds like a lot more work than it really was. We had a super fun time doing it together and she can't wait to fill it out!

Those are some good ideas.

My godson will be with me for a day in Georgia after our Disney trip, before we drive back up to Ohio. (I drive my mother back to Ohio - where the rest of our family lives - for the holidays. This will be a couple days before Christmas.) Maybe I'll let him work on the project on my computer - something to keep him busy, since my home isn't exactly child oriented.

I would be conscious about all the little pieces of paper and memorabilia that you can pick up around the park. You may be able to use your park tickets, maps, etc. for your project.

Pressed pennies/quarters, autographs and such could be shown in some capacity too. Shoot, DS picked up a feather that Iago molted at the end of the Tiki Room show and tells EVERYONE that Iago got struck by lightning.

OOO... just thought of something else... ask some of the international CMs (World Showcase and maybe AK) to write out "Hello" in their native language and see if your kiddo can learn to say them so he can share with his teacher when he gets home. That might be fun. Or if you're afraid he'll forget, maybe videotape the experience of the teach and share that with teacher...
