Trying to be budget. Ok It's a big deal, DS 6 first party he wants to have friends over (before all family/adult parties). He's getting bigger & understanding concept of friendship. So big for us b/c he was a preemie with lots of developmental issues & now he's almost caught up. :cloud9: So he wants a Transformer party. I am not crafty. So trying to be budget saw some great deals for party packages on E-bay that bring everything, will rent the tables & chairs found local service that rents tables $8 each & chair 50 cents all day. Incl chairs, tables, bounce house & clown who does face painting, balloon tricks & cotten candy machine ($264). So food wise I am doing finger foods. Found a bakery 5 minute away (we're hispanic) so for 50 people 7 different trays for $119 . Just the cake & I can get a great cake from Publix. Suggesting to the godfather who always wants to help to bring the beer (I know but there's lots of grown up). I'm already stocking up on juice boxes, water bottle when I see a sale). Thinking of getting the kids goody bag but since I'm doing a pinata I thought that would be wasting $. Any suggestions ? First big party (for us anyway) with kids. Thinking 10 kids with respective parents + another 10 family members. Thinking 25-30 people total with kids incl will actually come. So need any ideas, I am open to all suggestions !! :cheer2:

P.S. Party is in Dec. 13 his b-day falls on Sat. I was thinking Sun but then next day is school ?

AT grandson's 6th birthday party last week, they had a face painter who also did balloon animals.
I have never seen kids more excited. Even some of the adults had things painted on their arms (paint comes off with water)
I don't know how expensive it is, but thought it was a great idea.

Another thing kids like are those big punch balls- they seem to play with them for hours. I think you can sometimes find them at the DOllar stores. You'd probably need a decent size yard though.

hope that helps a little- if I think of anything else I will post.

1 more thought on the goody bags- I know around here all the kids expect them as they leave the party.

You can get just regular lunch bags and either put some stickers on them or have your son color with each child's name on the bag, or his name. "from Jack"

At grandson's party, mom bought balloons so as each child left they could take a balloon with them.

Goody bags: a mask (this was a batman party), stickers, sidewalk chalk and holder(from dollar store), ring pop. Sorry I forget what else.
At past parties she has been aboe to get great end of summer deals on kids cups that she included.

Check out your local Dollar store and you will see plenty of items you can include, even some that come multi items to a package which you can split up to distribute.

For drinks, there were seperate coolers (labeled on outside) of water, soda, beer and wine. Kids label was a picture of capri sun so they knew what was in it.

Still thinking...

I should wait to finish thinking before I hit submit:lmao:

I bought the party supplies and used CelebrateExpress.com.
I found them to be the best deal, though you should first look at Target and Walmart to see if they have what you want and avoid shipping charges.

For invites, I simply made them on my computer. Nothing fancy- I am incapable of that :)
Found clipart and put it on top and bottom of page (word doc)
Then, simply did the normal invite stuff- for who, when where.
It was inexpensive and cute.

we did a army theme for ds bday this past year and it was a huge hit. I bought quite a few things from ebay and oriental trading. They each got a helmet and a camo scarf to wear. I bought a few $1.00 plastic grenades at the doller store and off the boys went and played. I did set up a obstacle course and made: a maze for them to crawl under ( made out of wood and string), blow up $1.00 rings that looked like tires from the dollar store that we tied together, a friend lent us a tunnel for them to crawl thru also. dh also brought a long thick piece of wood for them to walk across like a log. The biggest hit was the tug of war. They couldnt get enough of that one.. They each received red, white and blue necklace with a gold medal that I found under the 4th of july theme along with red, white and blue name tags and red, white and blue candy canes from the candy section from oriental trading. I bought a few bags of the army men from the dollar store and put them in the goody bags.. It was the easiest and best kid party to date.. have fun planning

They have transformer fruit snacks at the grocery store & I believe they are Betty Crocker so there are coupons out for these. They would be good for the goodie bags.

Try birthdaypartyideas dot com. There are tons of party ideas including transformers. Good luck!

Wow - just realized that you had said Transformers theme - yipes, I do not know how I missed that!!! What follows is what I had posted before I submitted and saw your post again!

If he likes Lego, it can be a great theme. I did this for my DS (10) this year and it was great fun. We had a guess the number of Lego pieces jar as they arrived. Then we had all of his own Lego set up and the kids made their own creations while everyone arrived. We had pizza, pop and juiceboxes. We did a scavenger hunt for particular pieces and then they had to build the prototype with the pieces they had found. We had relay races where the batons were long Lego pieces. We did a Lego toss. We also had a build off with Bionicles and a Bionicle shooter contest where they had to try to knock down Bionicles that were already built. The cake was, you guessed it, a piece of Lego - you make a slab cake and six cupcakes for the pegs and ice it up! It was great fun and easy to do; also very reasonable. The favour was a little Lego set for each child that I found on sale at ToysRUs.

Good Luck!
