Has anyone got any suggestions about where to go for a special diamond wedding anniversary meal? We are going out at the end of July with friends and her parents, who celebrate their 60th wedding anniversary whilst we are in Orlando (her father will also celebrate his 81st birthday too - hoping to book Illuminations cruise for that day!). So, we were hoping for a special meal on the anniversary evening, not necessarily at Disney - any ideas?

Hi Mrs G,

Depends on your budget but Victoria & Alberts is wonderful for an intimate, romantic meal. Although at $85 a head it's certainly not cheap! DH and I went last year for our 10th anniversary and it was beautiful.

Emerils at Citywalk is also a wonderful restaurant for an 'adult' celebration, although again is expensive.

Any one of the Disney resort restaurants would also be great, i'm sure everyone will pitch in with their favourites so it depends on the type of evening you wish to have. A favourite of ours is Spoodles on Disney's Boardwalk. A great meal (medditeranean style food) followed by a stroll along the boardwalk watching the street entertainers would make a memorable evening for your friends parents.

California Grill at the Contemporary is one of my favs.

I also like the Boardwalk idea after dinner but I find Spoodles a little noisy but it is a good restaurant. Also a good restaurant on the Boardwalk is Flying Fish - scrummy food here. Or if you like your steak The Yachtsman Steakhouse across at the Yacht Club is a top class restaurant and special to boot.

Just some more ideas for you

Another vote here for Victoria and Alberts in my opinion THE best restaurant at WDW - I am drooling just thinking about it ;)

Hi Mrs. Grumpy

I think the suggestion of Victoria and Alberts is a good one, I havent been myself but have always heard excellent reviews. Have you asked on our Restaurants Board? I am sure you would get a lot of varied suggestions here.

The AKL restaurants are nice, we had a terrific meal at Boma's but it wasnt particularly intimate.........lots of noise :D :D :D

What type of place and food are you looking for? My favourite upmarket restaurants (in no particular order) are:

Disney
California Grill at the Contemporary Resort
Flying Fish Cafe at the BoardWalk
Jiko at Animal Kingdom Lodge
Artist Point at Wilderness Lodge
Citricos at the Grand Floridian

We're always talking about Victoria and Albert's, but dh can't be bothered to pack a jacket just for one dinner.

Offsite
Ruth's Chris Steakhouse on west Sand Lake Road (we discovered this last time - WOW!)
Emeril's at CityWalk
The Palm at Hard Rock Hotel

On the list for our trip in May!
La Coquina at Hyatt Regency Grand Cypress
The Old Hickory Steakhouse at Gaylord Palms
Tchoup Chop at Royal Pacific
Delfino Riviera at Portofino Bay

Thank you all so much for your suggestions - I'm going to have fun checking these out on the web! Have to get my friend over and see what she thinks too. Probably not looking for anything too formal - both our 16 year olds will be there, also her 15 year old who is autistic.
Can't wait until we go - counting the days!

you could try this one I highly recommend it-or there is the Signature on the Lake

This is a real American restaurant ( ie not a diner) selling cordon bleu food. It is situated in Downtown Kissimmee historic district near to the Library. Go early for the happy hour. Reasonable prices given the standard of food.I can't find a web site for it though.
