Idea for new resort?

I am still thinking about my choice, but I asked DH and he said he thought it would be fun to have a Wild West theme resort. That could be pretty cute. It has already been done to some extent at MK, but they could have a real saloon, a Canastoga wagon or stage coach parked outside, the male CMs dressed in chaps and ten gallon hats, a corral around the parking lot and outlaws for valets - could be fun!

Continue the Blizzard Beach theming with a winter themed resort. Modern architecture with lots of glass panels. Have a nightly show (fountains, stunt ski show etc...). Maybe a penquin, polar bear exhibit. Also a dance club with a snow storm to close out the night.

In my opinion, I think the coolest idea so far is the haunted mansion/Tower of Terror.

Why didn't I think of that.

However, after what Disney did to Alien Encounter because it was too scary, I'm afraid it would be too cheesy and not edgy enough.

Underwater "seas" themed resort. Complete with salt water tanks in every room, and if possible built on the water (like its floating). doubt its possible structurally but thought a sea themed resort would be awesome.

A stay at the Contemporary might do the trick here- they have had 2 floods in 4 months I believe!

A Route 66 resort, somehow tying together the different states the highway traverses, the automobile theme, the feeling of the decades (30s, 40s, 50s) that "The Mother Road" was in heaviest use, and the design aspects of the old unique roadside motels, diners, and tourist attractions.

How you'd do that, I don't know, but I'm sure Imagineers could figure it out. ::yes::

A value resort themed to the 50 states. I'd book at Hawaii in a heartbeat
They've already got a Hawaii building at the Polynesian ;). Not sure what the theming would be for Delaware, but maybe all the on-site businesses could be incorporated there. The California building could be the largest and flakiest. Wyoming, Montana and Alaska could be large, but with very few rooms...
:rotfl:
Just a thought.

I like the idea of a Mediterranean resort with areas themed after the various Mediterranean countries. They could have an Italian section, French Riviera, Spain, Morocco, Greece and even Egypt! That would be so cool! Kind of like a mini-EPCOT!

Yes! Yes!

And Mississippi could have rooms with that mosquito netting like the one in the Expedia commercial. Only then everyone would change their minds and book over at Texas where everthing's bigger and better!

Disney's Outback. It would be another AK area resort. I would build it so that you have either an "outback view" or a reef view. The resort would be semi-circular like the AKL, but instead of a pool in the interior courtyard, there would be two pools, one on each side of the Porte Cochere. The exterior entryway would be made of glass and would be an overhead view of an aquarium like "Shark Reef" at Typhoon Lagoon. This Aquarium would separate the Theme pool from the quiet pool. The theme pool would feature a sand bottom zero entry pool with a "Great White" water slide, while the quiet pool would feature zero entry, also decorated like a beach on the Australian coast.

The "Outback" would be populated with kangaroo, brumbies, Koala, a variety of birds and even some reptiles (an isolated croc pond would be great). Rooms would be similar to the AKL. The resorts deluxe restaurant would feature seafood and steak. I would do an Ohana type of "Bar-B-Que" that would have shrimp, beef, etc. Also, the resort would have a real food court.

The resort would be connected to the AKL and AK via safari trucks, similar to those used on Kilimanjaro Safari. These trucks would drop guests directly at the gate and would not operate on the main roads.

Okay,

I know this might be crazy and be a wild resort,,,,but how about the Disney Character Resort? THere could be different areas like the Fab 5 (mickey and company), pooh themed, princess themed, lion king theme, aladdin theme, lilo and stitch, monsters inc, etc...i know this might be a little redundant, but wouldnt the kids absolutely LOVE it?

at disneyland paris, they have a western themed area, cheyanne or santa fe hotels i think. they also have one based on the old lodges out west that are cool.

I also like the pet theme hotel where your pets could stay with you,,,,we would love to take our Zoey with us!!!

A friend and I were just talking about this recently....

We think they should build a "castle" resort, with different wings for different "princesses." I think it would be hugely popular what with all the "Princess" fans out there.

Im still hopeful for the Mediterrenean....or maybe a "Nostalgic Disney" resort that is decorated like retired attractions like Mr Toads Wild Ride, 20000 Leagues, Alien Encounter, etc.

A family midevil times hotel complete with castles, dungeons, a moat, etc. It could contain princesses but be more akin to a RobinHood, three muskateers feel to attract little boys too.

Hey...I really like Kay7979 and her DH idea. I think a Wild, Wild West resort would be so neat! Can you see all of our friends from different countries coming to stay in what they would consider a true reflection of Americans! Howdy, y'all! :p

Great idea! Moats, knights, Robin Hood, sword in the stone/Merlin stuff in addition to the Princesses. My nephews would love it! princess:

I just want them do do a resort w/ the themeing of a value but the amenities of a deluxe. I love the fun stuff at the Values & Pop, but I don't want to give up everything you get w/ a mod or deluxe

Well, after careful thought . . . and a bit of inspiration from other posters such as the person who wanted a resort built on the water, I have an idea at last!

I would like them to build a Cruiseship Resort in the lagoon. I think I would prefer it to be an old Mississippi riverboat. The rooms would be more spacious than the typical ship's cabin, but they would look like staterooms. All rooms would be outside cabins with balconies, and obviously they would have waterviews! There would be dining rooms, and the usual amenities. I would have music playing from that era and CMs dressed in old fashioned clothes. For the pool, I would build a contained area that looked like part of the lagoon but was actually a pool, with slides off the ship.

Wow..what a great thread!! There are so many great ideas here. I would love to see the haunted/villian themed one the most. :scared1: This is so different from anything they have now. Keep the ideas coming :D

Disney's "Character Resort"

About 12 years ago my DD mentioned that she would like to see a resort with all of the Disney Characters as the focal point.

Hallways, rooms, pools, restaurants, etc....all named after characters! ::yes::

I always loved that idea!
