I'd like to know about the "band" aspect of the Magic Bands

Leaving FP+ out of it. I've seen reports scattered all throughout the FP+ threads, but can we dedicate this one to testers' opinions on just the BANDS? Are they comfortable? What material are they made of? Did your wrist get all sweaty and sticky underneath them? Did you keep them on all day? How did they work? Did you have to be careful about where to place them on the sensors to get a good reasind? How did your kids react to them? Did THEY leave them on all day? If you (or your kids) took took them off, where did you carry them?

I'm just curious about the bands. At first I thought they sounded kinda cool, but I think we'll be opting out of these (regardless of FP+) if at all possible in the future. I can't imagine my kids keeping theirs on for a week, and I have no desire to wear something around my wrist for a week in Florida (I'm not a watch-wearer for a reason!).

I am subbing in because I am curious about all of this as well..

Also, if they are uncomfortable to wear (which I am sure they are) has anyone tried out the band covers that they are now selling at least at the CR?? They are neat looking but not sure how much they will help as far as comfort.

I leave in 2 weeks and just received mine today. It is made of rubber with ridges on the inside for air to flow through. I put it on and wore it, I did have mine tight so it couldn't move and the chip part which is apx 1.5in and flat would sit flat on my wrist. I started sweating after an hour. I made it bigger now and going to see how it goes.

I can't wait to hear how others made out wearing them at the parks and what they thought.

I'm interested to know about the comfort and practicality of wearing the bands too :)

Are they silicone/rubber like LiveStrong type bracelets? Can they be taken off and on? I saw somebody say something about putting them on their purse strap after everybody gets in. I wonder if they'll make something similar that can be used on a lanyard? DD loves pin trading and wears her lanyard the whole time.

See, I'm thinking that if it's uncomfortable, or if we're not going to wear them, to just stick with the RFID cards. We've used them on our past two trips, and I don't have any complaints about them. You still tap to charge/tap to enter, and the characters on them are super adorable. If your child will be wearing a lanyard anyway, why not just stick with the cards? I assume that they can't get rid of the cards totally...day guests and ticket resellers would have to have some non-band ticket media, right?

I guess I'm just not buying the hype about the bands. I wear very little regular jewlery when at Disney, so these just don't have much appeal for me. Carrying cards isn't THAT inconvenient.

When we go to the Caribbean we have to wear those plastic snap on bracelet's the entire week - you would think it would be annoying but even on my 2 year old after the first day no one seems to notice them.

I am more concerned about the ease of a kid removing the Disney ones. I would want to be able to take them off to go get FP's (do you still do that? One person take the groups) or DD playing with it and loosing it mid trip!

When we tested about a month ago we were able to use the MagicBands and used them all day. We both found them to be comfortable and didn't have any issues with chaffing or getting sticky. Not sure what material they are made out? The only way I can describe it as was that it was a soft rubber and not slick and smooth. The only thing we found a bit awkward was unlocking our resort room door with the band.

YES...they are very similar to the LiveStrong bands but wider in the middle and tapered on the ends. You can easily remove them as they have but once on they are quite secure.

Don't wear it too tight and you should be fine. We wore ours really loose and we didn't have any sweat issues.

They look really good and I've heard from a few folk who have tried them that they are really comfortable. I'm a watch wearer as is my daughter so it's probably going to bug us less having something on our wrists than it would someone not used to it.

It would be great if you could get a little charm type insert with the time on to save you having to wear a watch on the other wrist though :rotfl: The bands look more comfortable than my watch but I don't think I want something on BOTH wrists.

I wonder if this is going to reduce Disney's sales of lanyards once these bands become the norm  I do realize that some folk will opt out of them but I'm sure enough folk will opt in, or simply not know there is an option making the bands more widely used than room keys and hard tickets etc.
