I need to loose 25 pounds. I want to be 125 lbs. I'm 5'2". 46 years old and post- menopause. Meaning a low metabolism!
My bad habits are binging on junk food:(
My good habits are I like to exercise:D
I do have a question for anyone who'd care to give me their opinions...
When I try to determine my basic calorie intake, I like to use my goal weight....does it make sense to do this? If body fat does not burn many calories, why count those pounds of fat toward my body weight? I figure, doing it this way, I'll get a more realistic idea of how much I am burning off.
Any opinions ???

Welcome to the WISH board. Lots of different diets going on here, and lots of support. I do not know the answer to your question, it sounds good to me. Please grab a clipart and make yourself at home :)

Hi! I'm so glad you decided to join us. We have a wonderful support group here. There is a post telling you how to add the WISH challenge clipart HERE

I count carbohydrates instead of calories so I can't really advise you about that, but it makes sense to me to use your goal weight as a guide.

You are really lucky that you love to exercise, I wish I was like that.

Come on in and drag up a chair (to put your tennis shoes on with of course). Come be losers like the rest of us. Were here for you and will encourage you along you way. This is the best group ever!

Hi Perdidobay!

I just joined last week and I have the same bad habits you do....I love to exercise, but I binge on junk too.

Last week I joined Weight Watchers-again:rolleyes:, but my suggestion to you is to find a program that will work for you. I know when I'm exercising a lot, I need to eat at the top of my Weight Watchers points in order to ward off a binge!

I'll try to answer your question with what is my opinion, not necessarily fact:if you lower your calorie intake you will lose weight. I would not immediately lower your calorie intake to coincide with your goal weight since it may be too low at this point and you may get frustrated. I would lower your intake a little at a time and when you feel like you are plateauing, lower it again.

Welcome to the WISH challenge. You are going to find great supportive people here.

Thanks everyone:D
And thanks for the good advice anniet, I'm glad to see I'm not the only one who binges! I've been trying to drink a big glass of water when I want to get junk to eat........of course I blew it at the movies yesterday and got popcorn (with butter!), but it was free refills and I didn't go back for seconds. Hey that's amazing for me;)

Hello and welcome, perdidobay!!!!

I love your tag! We must have been separated at birth, because sometimes I need rescuing from Chunky Monkey too!

I just started WW about 2 weeks ago and have lost 4.5 pounds. I love the program. It doesn't feel like counting calories because I am spending all my time measuring portions.

I've read that it's not healthy for a woman to eat less than 1200 calories a day, so if you do count calories, try to make sure you don't eat less than that amount.

Good luck!!!!!! I hope to see you here often! This is a great bunch of people.

I'm a shortie too --- 5'2'' -- BUT right now my GOAL weight is right around your current weight (139). I have a feeling that once I finally get there that I might change my mind. I was starting with over 100 pounds to lose -- and I wanted it to be a do-able number.

How is the water drinking going for you? I need to really focus on that this week (and taking my vitamins too).

WELCOME perdidobay! This is a great group of supportive people here. I'm sure you will succeed in your goals! :) :)

Thanks for all the great advice everyone:D
Jody... the water drinking is going well, I like to drink ice water with a bit of lemon sqeezed in...it makes it seem more like a treat!
