I Am Neurotic And Think That My Kids Should Have Some Sort Of Id Bracelet With Their Name, Our Numbers, Hotel, Etc. Actually, I Think I Could Come Up With An Idea And Patent It For Disney!!!! But Seriously, I Don't Know Why They Haven't Come Up With Some Sort Of System. Any Convenient Ideas To Identify Your Child In Case They Get Lost?

Although both kids know their names and addresses I always worry about what if they were panicked so i looked into this is well. I went to petco and had tags made up for each child - I let them pick out what shape they wanted - dd3 chose a red heart and ds4 chose of course the bone shaped one (he likes blue and it was) - but I had them engraved with name, address, and cell phone # - about $7 each - I am going to take a white label sticker and put our hotel name and room # on back side of it incase they get lost and attached them to the bottom lace part of their shoes - out of the way, too small writing so predators can't read them, but clear and readable for CM's or security to read them. I chose to only put the above info engraved into it because we frequent zoos, musuems, and such around home and plan on using them there too - had our first run at Bostom Musuem of Science and though we didn't need it I felt better knowing that if they were lost and upset they didn't HAVE to remember their information.

There are several threads about identifying your children. Some have used permanent marker and wrote their name, child's name, and cell phone on their child's arm. There are those shoe ID's that your child wears on his/her shoes. Guest Services has an id tag you can fill out and if you have a pin, you can attatch it to your child's clothing.

I too was nervous about traveling alone to WDW with my dd9. I wrote down all pertinant info on an index card at home before we left and laminated it and tied it to the inside of her little backpack that she carried into the parks each day.I put our hotel room number on it too when we checked into the hotel. :flower: I also read on these boards ,another great way to keep your child safe if they get separated from you while in the parks. :earsgirl: I bought her one of those plastic bracelets (similar to the Lance Armstrong bracelets)and on the inside of it ,I wrote my cell phone # on it ,in permanent marker !!!! That way if she got lost or just wandered away a little bit ,I told her to go to a CM and have them call my cell and I'd be right there . That BRACELET really gave me "Peace of Mind". She always wore it,even in the pools. It did start to wear off by the end of the week ,so I'd pack a permanent marker for the trip and reinforce the phone number when and if needed. I just loved the Bracelet idea that I learned of right here on these Disboards !!!

There's a website, I think it's www.whoshoesid.com that offers velcro tags that go into a child's shoes. They are bright blue and pink and easily recognizable by CMs. You can put all your info inside these tags. I purchased a set for each of my kids for our upcoming trip because I am also paranoid.

I did the pet tag for the DS, when he was 4 and 5. But I put his name, my cellphone, and our hotel on it. Unlaced the shoe and put it near the bottom of the lacing.

Plus we would take a picture of him before we left each morning, so we would have a current picture. Plus we drilled him on who he should approach should he loose us.

Do you know anyone that works at a hospital that can get you an id bracelet? This is what i'm planning on using I like the pet tag too though.

I have two boys. This year they will be 4 and 7. Big brother knows our address and phone number but little brother only knows the street name. Last year I found and idea in Family Fun magizine that we used nobody was lost so we have not tested them but...

I made id necklaces. They have my cellphone number on them. Took craft floss type stuff and strung numbered beads on it. Then I tied on a simple clasp. I used more gender neutral colors, green floss and clear, neon numbers. We have used them at sporting events and festivals too.

You may want to do a search for this in the acrchives. I know I have seen a thread on the Family board.

The last time we went my sister came and so did my parents. I made ID cards for the children. I took photos of the children (at the time ds7 and dd10, three neices 12, 5, and 1) and imported the picture into an excel document. On it I listed their names, nicknames, home information, medications taken daily, and medication allergies. In addition, I also listed our resort information, our cell phone numbers and then I listed 'also traveling with' and listed my parents and my sister's names and cell phone numbers. Each ID card was lamenated.

They carried a copy of this in their waist packs. They had strict instructions that they were only to take them out if they were separated from us, and only for a cast member. I kept a duplicate of my children, my sister kept a duplicate of my neices.

Thankfully we never had to use them. But if we had, all the information was there.

We did a pet tag at Petsmart with DS's name and our cell phone numbers, then attached it to his shoe. Inexpensive and virtually indestructible. In fact, I'm searching for it right now to bring along on our trip in less than 2 weeks!

i was nervous about taking my DD7 to WDW w/o id as well, so i ordered a set of dog tags for her from armynavy.com-6.95 and NO shipping :) they say "if child wearing is lost, please call" followed by mine and my DH's cell phone #'s. a chain and keychain are included, and the chain is long enough for the tag to be hidden inside her clothes.

Another option...some states issue non-driver's licenses to children too.
