Hi!

My family is considering a cruise this summer possibly on Royal Caribbean. Our only experience with cruising is Disney x4 and our last cruise was in 2017. My sons are going to be 20-years-old when we’d cruise and I think they would enjoy this cruise line more than Disney. I’m looking at the Icon of the Seas because it sails a 7-night to the Eastern and that was our favorite itinerary when we cruised with Disney.

Can someone tell me what are the big differences between Royal Caribbean and Disney or point me to an older thread/another website that lists them? The one I can think of right now is the drink package (we don’t drink alcohol but do like our sodas). Anything else I should be aware of? Would the Icon of the Seas be a good choice for two, 20-year- olds? The ship looks awesome but also overwhelming.

Thank you!

Have you watched some you tube ship tours of Icon that might help. What specifically are you looking for? There is no rotational dining and you need to make reservations for show. There is a lot more to do on Royal. Some of it might be included and some will be an up charge.
You pay for everything in advance and they do have sales. They are fully refundable. I believe it's up to 24 to 48 hours before. Yes you can cancel once onboard. That is one advantage of Royal over DCL.
Usually Black Friday weekend is the best prices on things that cost extra. I'm cruising in January and I cancelled and rebooked most of dining reservations, internet etc yesterday.
I'm taking a 21 year old on Utopia in one month. I can certainly let you know his thoughts. He's cruised on DCL 34 times and Royal twice. This will be his first time on Royal as an adult.
