I just got back from Germany and Austria yesterday. Today I am still feeling the effects of jet lag. It was a fun trip but a little hot the first week and a lot of rain the second week.

Oh Carl, how neat! DH and I are thinking of visiting Germany next fall for our 20th anniversary (IF we can convince Grandma and Papap to watch our boys for 2 weeks). Did you see Neuschwanstein? Did you go on an escorted tour? Which tour company? I'm just in the planning stages now, so any info you can give me will be a big help. Thanks!

Welcome back!!! I hope you had a great trip, and I really want to see pictures. :D

welcome back! and i agree iwth rajah -- i want pictures! :teeth:

<font color=navy>Tchuss and welcome back!

I love Germany. What parts did you visit?

In Germany we only visited places in the middle Rhein area, other than Koenigsee. Then we went to the Salzburg area of Austria. I went with the Alpenfest Tour Group. They are a Houston area band which also takes people on tours in late June and early July. They also play their music for us each night of the tour.

Sounds like a great trip Carl. Should we call you Karl now?:D

Please tell us more about Austria, that is number one on my list of places to go before I die! ;) I love the music and history of that country.

Welcome back Carl :) can't wait to hear all about your trip.

<font face="Comic Sans MS"><font color=navy>I spent two weeks at Ramsau, many moons ago, and we hiked the Alps everyday that it didn't rain (and sometimes when it did). We visited the Koenigsee ... did you go on the boat & listen to the music? They used to play a song on the trumpet, and it would echo back from the mountains - the song used the echo - it was so pretty.

We also hiked over the mountains, and down to the Koenigsee from there. I have some pictures of us looking down at the lake. There were over 900 steps leading down to it - by the Kirche there.

I'll tell you a memory I have -- there was a friendly stag w/13 points that used to walk up to the tourists up in the Alps. Once when we were hiking, I found a branch, grabbed it, put it behind my head, and proclaimed, "Ich bin ein Kirsche." They laughed at me, of course.

Here's a pic of me (Aug 11, '78) with my German sister. I was 18 & she was 17 at the time. Notice we're wearing knickerbockers and hiking boots .

Here's a postcard of the Koenigsee, and various things around the lake.

Thanks for the trip down memory lane, Carl. It was fun remembering the great times I had w/my German friends.
