We are going to Disney in December. My DD wants to ice skate! Does anyone know if there is anywhere near WDW with an ice skating rink?

We do not have one near our house and was hoping we could all go ice skating while on vacation or on the way home.

Thanks in advance for your help!:wave2:

The closeset rink I know of is Metro Skates and Dance on Emeralda Road in Orlando (407-293-8152 ). It's quite a hike, but the next closest are up near Apopka so you're going to have a bit of a drive either way.

However, Downtown Disney has had a small rink in years past. I'm not sure if they still make one or not but you might check there as well.

As far as I know, DD does not have a rink. We go yearly and there has never been a rink there! My DD is a figure skater and every time we pack to go she asks if she can bring her skates. About how far is the closest rink from WDW?

thanks shelbyjosh!
I showed my DD4 your pictures and she said.."look a real ice skater, does she skate at Disney?"
It would really be nice if they opened the rink at DTD. We have been there for the past 5 years and I have not noticed a rink, or where they could possible set up a rink. I would think that a lot of people would utilize this if opened. ::yes::

Thanks for the reply.:wave2:

Once upon a time, they definitely had a skating rink at DTD Marketplace for the holidays. I saw it there a couple of times. I don't know why it is no longer there. Maybe someone else can enlighten us. Someone posted on another thread, that it had been move to the Westside. I've never seen one there, but when we go for Christmas, I'll definitely be on the look out for it. :earseek:

edited to add: F-L-A, can you say Tampa Bay Lighting. Masters of ice skating in Florida, and winners of the Stanley Cup. Can you guess where I live?

The only ice skating rink I'm aware of is at the RDV Sportsplex in Maitland...that's north of downtown Orlando, which would be a good 30-45 minute drive, depending on our city's lovely traffic congestion.
