Ice Maker Question

We had our first stay in a 2-bedroom at OKW this past May, we usually stay in a studio and don't have access to a fridge with an icemaker. The ice that came out of the ice maker (in the room, not at the bus stops) tasted awful. I assumed there was no filter on the refrigerator. Is that the case with all the refrigerators at OKW? Let me also mention that I am not generally critical of the water at WDW. I can drink water from the fountains and have no problems, but the ice out of that refrigerator was foul smelling and tasting. Could this have just been a situation with our particular refrigerator?

Why bother to pay for icemakers if the ice is unusable? That being said, if the icemakers are not usable, there need to be ice machines closer than at the bus stops.

We never had a problem with the ice from the icemaker at OKW, it could have been your particular room.

At BWV, they just have an ice tray in the freezer. It looked like there was an attachment for an icemaker in the freezer, but they did not put it in. I usually bring my mickey ice tray so that we can have 2 trays.

I wonder how old the ice was. Old ice will get a very stall flavor. When we come home from a vacation,we will threw away a bucket full of ice from our fridge just for that reason.

They throw out the old ice so when new guests arrive their usually isn't any ice to start with or very little anyway. I never had a problem with the ice at OKW but that doesn't mean there sin't a problem with one icemaker at the resort.

I haven't noticed a problem with the Ice in our visits to OKW.. We always dump the ice upon arrival and have the machine start with a new batch.... Maybe the guests before you had something foul smelling in the fridge and it made the ice taste bad??? Did the refridgerator smell? I hope they don't do away with the icemaker with the new appliances at OKW.. We use it all the time.

Never had a problem with the ice at OKW. You gotta watch that "bad ice". It can give you an awful headache the next morning.

Even if they tossed the ice in the bin. The first batch of ice that comes out has usually been sitting in there ready to "drop". This may have been your problem, if someone had something foul smelling previously, it would have affected that first batch of ice.
