DH has never been on a cruise - 1st time (if he comes) will be Nov 30th 7night Eastern. He was talking about the ice the other day and how he will fill up the bucket from the ice machine down the hall. He is a big time ice user.
I told him the stateroom host keeps the ice bucket filled and I never saw an ice machine in the hallways when I cruised on NCL in Dec.
I know the host comes in the room twice a day. But what if we do happen to run out of ice? Should we just alert them on day one that this is a big thing to us and would appreciate to keep filled? Can we ask for extra?

You can bring a zip lock freezer bag and fill it right away in the morning with the ice left in your stateroom, then put it in the "fridge" the icebucket will be refilled in the evening so you will have double ice. The stateroom hosts are so great you could probably just ask them to keep refilling your bag in the fridge too if needed. If I remember correctly you can get ice at the beverage station at any hour. we used to fill up cups with mostly ice and a little water and keep them in the "fridge" for next to our beds at night. The cups even have little covers so you don't have to worry about knocking it over in your sleep.

We're big ice users too and our stateroom host (this last cruise it was Jose, who was WONDERFUL!!) noticed that we had some sodas, so he would bring us extra ice several times a day.

the only ice maching I know of is the one on Deck Nine by the 24 hour coffee machine.

Make sure you ask your stateroom host to keep it filled. We had one not so good host and we finally had to ask for some ice, since he never filled it.

Our stateroom host RARELY filled ours... and we are big ice users! The only time he filled it was when we were able to catch him and ask for some ice.

At one point we ran out of ice and also wanted to ice a bottle of champagne. One call to Guest Services, and our stateroom host was there within minutes with plenty. Sure wish I could get that kind of service at some of the hotels where I've stayed.
