If you have been to it, tell me about it. Is it worth it? Do you need PS?? Do they fill up fast?

We did the ice cream social in June. We had PS for 3:10. The ice cream sundaes were good. Character interaction was great. We saw Farmer Mickey, Pluto and Chip and Dale. We enjoyed it and will probably go it again on our next trip.

A real vfm way to meet characters. We had a PS (as there is usually no more than 2 sittings it would be advisable to make one if you definitely want to do it), and were promptly seated. Pluto sat & did a bit of colouring with DD. Really good character interaction. Huge, delicious icecreams (wiggly jelly worms on kids icecreams, choc chip cookies for adults). If you've never been, I'd say go at least once.

We also did the ice cream social and I would highly recommend it. It was one of the best 'deals' - if there is suck a thing a WDW. You get a lot of ice cream and character interaction for the price.

I wish the other three parks would offer something similar. Aside from the great character interaction, it felt so nice to get out of the heat and relax with some ice cream in the air conditioning.

edited to answer your question: Yes, I'm pretty sure you need ps because they make the sundaes ahead of time.

I did the ice cream social in August and I think I'm going to make this a tradition from now on!!! It was absolutely wonderful. The character interaction is worth it alone. The characters played, colored and danced with the children at our table. It wasn't the quick sign, and picture thing. You get soooo much ice cream I wouldn't recommend eating before you go - maybe a hour or two after you eat lunch. Here is a partial eaten ice cream from the social......

Dollar for dollar the ICS is the best character meal deal around. We have been numerous times and it has always been great! I would definitely recommend a PS though.

We enjoyed it, but before making my PS I had read on this board that the characters may take a long time to get to each table. I was so glad I had read that, because I was mentally prepared to wait. Luckily DD(4) eats very slowly but DS(15 mos) was getting restless.

There didn't seem to be much rhyme or reason to the characters' travel pattern through the restaurant. Two characters actually walked right past our table -- not once but twice -- without stopping. Meanwhile Chip and Dale visited with us 2 or 3 times apiece. I pestered the characters' handler about it and all she could tell me was to be patient. Eventually we did see everyone and all the characters were great. They played and colored with DD. And we have some shots of the kids with 3 characters fawning over them.

So it worked out for the best, but just don't plan on being in and out. Do not make plan to catch a show soon after your seating; you may not make it in time. But it was an excellent value for the money; definitely the cheapest way to spend some "meal" time with the characters. And the presentation of the ice cream was too cute!
