I'm thinking of surprising my DD with the Ice Cream Social at Epcot for her birthday. She will be 10. Is this good for a child of this age, or is it more for younger children? She also has a sister that is 3.

Also, which characters were there and did they spend alot of time with the kids?:)

We went to the Ice Cream social last year for the first time with our daughter who was almost 2 at the time. It's a fun and inexpensive way to cool down, relax and meet some characters. We saw Mickey, Chip, Dale and Pluto. They each came to the table twice except for either chip or dale (I dont' remember which one). They played peekaboo with our daughter and she thought that was great. We took tons of great video and pictures from the Icecream Social. The kid's icecream was cute and it was good. The booths were high so we didn't feel like we were sitting on top of other people so we had "privacy" at the table. The platform revolves which was fun too. Our server was very attentive and kept coming over asking if we needed more drinks, etc. and she kept checking to make sure the characters had been to our table. We will do it again. If you 10 year old likes icecream and characters, I think she'll like the social. Enjoy!

We went down the week of Veteran's Day..did Ice Cream Social the first full day in the parks...it was a great introduction to the "magic." DSs (6 & 4) and DD (2 3/4) loved it..same characters as noted above...great photo ops...ice cream was neatly done and great! Highly recommend for the price!

Did you obtain a PS to do this? We are going 2/8 - 2/12, before the big President's Day rush (or at least we hope that is the case).

Thanks for your recommendation!

Yes, we did have a ps....we went the Sunday before Veteran's Day and I made the ps early (maybe a couple of months ahead??) I'm sure you have time! Enjoy!:wave2:

where are the icecream socials and how do you get them?

Would take the time to go to the IC social. I think it was a pleasure.
My children really didin't enjoy Epcot. But they sure did like the IC social.
We had planned to do the Princess breakfast in Epcot, then spend the day in Epcot, then to the IC social. My kids couldn't wait to get out of Epcot. The kids felt it was way too boring.
We did have PS (October visit) but there were many open seats in the area.

FYI ~ The sundae is a decent size for the price.

Don't forget the room rotates as you sit there. So don't get seasick.

My sons were 10 and 16 when we went to the Ice Cream Social, and they both had a good time, as did I! I don't think it's aimed at any age group at all, but just for everyone.
