I was looking at taking my family to the ICE at Gaylord National Resort. It looks awesome but I have some questions...I was hoping some one could answer.

Do you walk through at your own pace or is a "show" with a start and finish?

Is it worth $29+ per person? This is my real concern...for my family it would be over $150 to go.

Any comments are appreciated!!

Well I went to the one in TX at the Gaylord there a few yrs ago. You walk through at your own pace.

Maybe you can find some coupons? I know we did when we went because it is just too pricy to go look at ice sculptures.

We went a few years back at Gaylord Opryland here in Nashville. Honestly, I didn't really think it was worth the price. It is pretty but my then, 6 year old DD was bummed because they said absolutely no touching the sculptures! She did enjoy the slide but they have to keep it about 10 degrees in there to preserve the sculptures and I was so cold I was just ready to get out.

We went last year and it was a good time. I don't know if I would say it's worth the money, it is awfully pricey for how long you are in there, but it must cost quite a bit to build and keep cold! It is a walkthrough, and it wasn't too crowded, so you could do the slide for as long as you can stand to be in there. They do give you parkas to wear. We wore them OVER our big winter coats!

We made a day of it, walked around the National Harbor, checked out the new Peeps store, went to dinner. We also did all the evening festivities at the hotel- the Peeps Scavenger Hunt, the trains, the glass christmas tree show (which was awesome!). I know this year the activities will be slightly different, but there will still be plenty to do- and most of the stuff in the hotel is free. There is also ice skating. If you get a package and make a night of it, there are movies at night at the indoor pool.

Don't wait though- we waited until December to buy our tickets and nearly everything was sold out. We ended up going the first weekend in January, right before it closed!

I'm glad to see this thread since I'm considering going to the Gaylord Opryland (Nashville) one. It is expensive . . . The Opryland Hotel just reopened the other day (since the flooding from May), so I would kind of like to check out the hotel. I also noticed that in addition to ICE!, they have SNOW! -- you can do them separately or combine them for a discount. SNOW! is cheaper than ICE!

Does anyone know if you HAVE to buy your tickets in advance or if you can just show up if you decide to go while you happen to be at the hotel?

We went to the one in Orlando. It is COLD. It was cool to look at and you go at your own pace. When we went it was really crowded and we had to wait awhile to get in.

My DS liked the ice slides. We brought hats and gloves and that was really smart!

I wouldn't pay the full price but the year we went their were coupons and discounts all over the internet. I bought our tickets online and there was a pre-order discount.

I really want to do it this year. I got a 5$ off Q per adult in the mail if you want the code to order online PM me. ill give it to you when i get home.

I really want to do this as well, My niece will be in next week and my sis n law is a huge grinch fan so this will be perfect. I don't think I got anything in the mail so I may be PMing you!

We have been to the one in Orlando and we had a good time. The kids really liked it. You can do it at your own pace, but we were freezing after about an hour. It is one of those things that is really fun the first time. After that, you can check it off your list as "been there, done that, have the memories/pictures to show for it, but don't need to go back." ;)

Oh, while we were there, they also had a concert and some other Christmas entertainment so we enjoyed that.
