Ice Age 2: The Meltdown

Just wondering if anyone saw this movie yet and if you did what were your thoughts?

I took DS to see it yesterday. He is almost 4 and there were a couple of parts that were too intense for him. I didn't realize it was PG. The only objectionable language I recall was someone calling someone else a pervert and Manny telling the female mammoth that he really liked her butt. The intense parts involve these strange water creatures that look like crocodiles.

I saw it today....took DS10, DD6 and her friend 6....i didn't care for it. Liked the first one, but not this one. I also didn't realize it was PG.....was the first one PG? Talked about "repopulating" the species.....also the swimming things were strange. We saw a friend and his son there....i asked him what he thought.....he slept through it.

My 8 yo DS like it and I thought it was funny especially the "Food Glorious Food" number by the vultures. But it was not as good as the first one and the "repopulating" the species was a bit much.

My 8 year old asked me what a "pervert" was in the middle of the movie. I wasn't quite ready to answer that right then and there.

We saw it on Friday. DD9 really liked it, but as with most sequels, I did not feel it was as good.
Since we just had kittens in our house... re-populating the species didn't phase her!

We enjoy movie time together, and go to many many movies, so I have learned that as long as she enjoyes it that's what matters! She's got a list of all the upcoming movies she wants to see

I just heard on the news it brought in $70M in the box office this weekend! Wowza

I also didn't like the part when the beaver looked at the ice wall and said, "Dam." I know that it was a play on words. He was calling the ice a dam, but the tone and way he said it made it out to be the curse word. I didn't like that at all.
There were several parts that were borderline for me. We will not be buying this one!

The questionable words aside, how was the story itself? What about Scrappy? Was he actually in the movie this time? Did they have a cartoon before the movie?

I took my 7yo dd yesterday. She loved it. Personally, I was a bit bored. I did love that little squirel chasing that nut around.

Scrappy was all over the movie. In the beggining, middle and end. The story was okay, just did not have the impact of the first one IMO. And my DS did not pick up on the word pervert and I didn't pick up on the word "dam".

I thought it was kind of disjointed - it never really meshed together. Scrat was in it and actually plays a heroic role at the end. There was no cartoon beforehand, but do stay part way through the credits at the end.

I was so looking forward to #2. I don't think we'll be getting this one either.

not sure what you mean by the "how dare they" comment, but thanks for clarifying the rating for me.

I don't remember much of the first one, but I for one really enjoyed IA2. Granted, I don't have kids, but I thought it was a very enjoyable movie personally

I took my DS(5) to see it on Saturday. We thought it was cute but not as good as the first. I didn't have a problem with anything in the movie and ds didn't picj up on it. It wasn't as if they made a big deal about it.


I do agree that the parts with Scrat were the best parts of the movie. If you rent the game, it is mostly about Scrat.
