I'm sure I've missed the thread somewhere, but I have looked. When is the new IASW scheduled to be up and running again?? Also, I heard somewhere that Fantasmic is down. Anyone know any juicy details?!

Oh btw. We took DS2 to Disney On Ice: 100 Years of Magic last night: BEAUTIFUL!!! It was perfect!! I thought maybe, just maybe it would satisfy my Disneyland craving for a couple months, but it just made it worse :guilty:

I keep telling myself, just a few more months :woohoo:

According to the DL calendar, IASW is to be up on November 28th. But a press release came out on the 3rd that said November 21st. I hope this is true as we are there from November 19-25 and it's MIL favorite! I'm afraid it may just be their way of introducing what will be available for the holidays. Today Darkbeers said the same on Miceage. Fantasmic will be up for our trip so I can;t give you any onfo on that.

Rge refurb is making it take longer than in years past. I like everyone else are reading into that press release that it will be opening on November 21. But there is a part of me that reads the release as November 21st starts the holiday season. With that Holiday season folks can enjoy IASW. If you read it like that, I don;t think that would mean it will also open on Novemeber 21st. I hope it opens then. Does anyone else read it as just being a part of the Holiday extras which begin the 21st but that it isn;t saying that IASW opens on the 21st?

Here's the original thread HERE and from the press release it says

Additional holiday highlights include the return, Nov. 21, of the “it’s a small world” holiday attraction, celebrating holiday traditions around the world.

And it is opening not only with the Christmas overlay but also with Disney characters in the ride, hidden among the children, permanently. The CM I spoke to on Saturday assured me that the characters would not take away form the spirit or essence of the ride, and that all the characters added to the ride will be "appropriately placed," like Ariel in the underwater scene, possibly Tigger and Simba in Africa, etc. And the CM said that the boats are all new to accommodate "larger people" and there will be more water in the ride. I know a lot fo folks dont like the idea of Disney characters being added to the ride, but I don't mind it. I think it is a very dated ride that needs some subtle refreshing, and apparently these character placements will be very subtle.

I don't' think you'll be seeing any Disney characters soon.

I've read other reports that they will not be visible in the "Holiday" overlay.

They may not be visible, but they will be there. I just had a long talk with a CM at DLR on Saturday about it and she confirmed 100% that the Disney characters are coming - that is part of what they are doing right this very second as part of the refurbishment - but they may be camouflaged by the holiday decor inside and then more visible after the overlay comes off.

In Al Lutz's update that's what it said too..

However, should you visit the attraction in November, the only change you'll likely notice is the new plastic boats that conveniently float several inches higher in the water. Why? Because the new Americana scene will be hidden this Christmas season behind the floor-to-ceiling black curtains that always shield that part of the ride during the Holiday remake, with the shiny goodwill slogans hanging from the ceiling. The newly added Disney characters will also be hidden from view for the Holiday version this year. But once the attraction closes again in January to take down all the Christmas lights and decorations, the Disney characters and the Americana scene will be revealed later in the winter.

Blech.! So what will be in the place of the Americana scene since the Rain Forest and Papua New Guinea won't be there? Tarps?

ETA: Oh, duh, my question was answered, hah.

As written above, there really won't be any change at the end of the Holiday version, because the last scene has always been covered and there are "shiny goodwill slogans hanging from the ceiling".

:rotfl: I saw that after I asked my question... :headache:
