We are driving to WDW in June and will be traveling on I75 a majority of the way into Florida.

We are weighing the value of buying a Sunpass which offers a slight discount on tolls. However, to purchase the Sunpass cost $4.99 plus $10 in prepaid tolls. The $4.99 is also refundable in tolls.

When checking toll calculators for Florida is says that the tolls will only be $2.25. Is that correct? If so, is it still worth it to buy the Sunpass given that you do not have to stop at toll booths to pay??

Any help is greatly appreciated.

Agree with cwasko. You may want to take I-75 to the Florida Turnpike (near Wildwood) and then to I-4. There would be a small charge for the turnpike section, but it would probably be more direct.

If you took I-75 to Turnpike to Western Expy to US-192, toll without SunPass would be $4.75 each way.

So you'd be paying about $5.50 for the convenience of not stopping at 4 toll booths. It's your call.

We ended up getting the sunpass - we got the regular one instead of the sticker - just in case we fly down and rent a car. To us it is worth it - we go down about 3 to 4 times a year - but we would have gotten it even if we only drove down once a year. Hubby hates sitting in lines at tollbooths - especially since IL went to the open road tolling.
It is definitely faster to take the FL Turnpike from I75 than to go to I4. Think back to Geometry - the hypotenuse is shorter than the sum of the two sides. I75 and I4 would be the two sides, the FL Turnpike is the hypotenuse.

we have a sunpass because we drive several times a year love going thru the sunpass lane with our out of state license plates more importantly never caught looking for change;)
