I would never, ever forget to take...

My personal top ten (from a teen's prospective at least):

  1. Sunscreen. That Florida sun will try to kill you if you aren't ready.
  2. Phone/Portable Charger. I've only recently discovered the joy of a portable charger, and I cannot go anywhere without it. I use an Anker, and that baby can charge your phone from dead 4 times over before it needs a recharge.
  3. Pin Lanyard! I have a pin lanyard that I've had since I was six, and even today, I still have it. I love pin trading; probably one of my favorite parts of Disney.
  4. Extra cash. You'll always end up spending more than you intend to, so always have a bit of pocket change with you.
  5. Medication. Even if you don't take prescription meds, it's always nice to have Advil and Pepto-Bismol on hand in case someone gets sick.
  6. Books and video games. Sometimes, it's just nice to unwind and relax in your room, so it's good to have something to do there.
  7. Notebook and pencil. This is more of a 'me' thing, but I love to write. Always having something to write with/on close by help me in case I get struck with inspiration (I never do).
  8. Stuffed animal. Also a 'me' thing, but I still sleep with stuffed animals, so I have to bring one of my teddy bears with me.
  9. Snacks. If you don't want to blow your budget on snacks, pack some granola bars and trail mix.
  10. Cute swimsuit. I love swimming at the pool, so I always have to have a swimsuit.
It's a bit odd, but this is my personal 'never leave without em' list!

8. Detergent tablets for doing laundry (DVC rooms have washer/dryer in them)

Are you renting your villa from someone (using points? not familiar with the term). If yes, then you do need to bring your own detergent. If you are renting from Disney, you do not. Just call housekeeping and they will bring you detergent & fabric softener.

I've been using a travel spreadsheet for decades and have saved various renditions of it to suit the hotel. When staying in a villa, our list is much different than if we were staying in a regular room. In either case... these are some of our basics:

Eye mask (helps keep you asleep while others in your room stay up to watch tv, read, etc.)
I always, always pack Lysol spray/wipes. I use it to clean the door knobs, remote control, toilet seat and telephone.
Just as people bring sunscreen, it's important to bring solarcaine as well (spoken from experience as a Floridian lol)
I bring a water camera for those great in-pool shots. Yes, you can buy them at Disney but they are incredibly expensive and cost prohibitive.
And, you might get a chuckle out of this but believe me, this is essential if you're sharing a room... Poopourri!

1. phone power brick
2. meds. i carry enough of everything otc you could need for 3 people for 6 days. when you NEED immodium, you don't want to be going shop to shop trying to find it.
3. my planner. i'd be dead in the water without it.
4. extra shoes. even the best running shoes can cause sore spots. rotating helps.
5. cottonelle wipes and poopurri spray. crohns, strange food, travel, and a shared bathroom?!? i'm not going unprepared.
6. hand sanitizer.
7. quarters and pennies. last trip we ran out early and it was sad. change in large amounts is hard to find on property sometimes.

I went with my 4 park items that I can never forget:

- Portable phone charger
- Go Pro with 3 batteries
- Backpack friendly umbrellas
- Heel cups. Day 4 felt like I was walking on nails around DHS.

So many good ideas here -- I'm starting to get nervous! What if I forget my...

ID (I always go through the "passport/no passport/just driver's license" dilemma that adds to my preflight stress, and you just know that I'm going to leave all ID home some day)
Credit card
Insurance card
Cash envelope (a problem, cuz I always leave my bank card home)
Magic band
Paper copy of boarding pass and each day's agenda, with all reservation numbers and FPs, just in case all my technology goes on strike
Sunscreen
Poncho
Prescription glasses
Charger/phone

This is my top 10. But I also pack enough outfits for each day plus one, cozy pajamas and a sweatshirt (other people I travel with like the rooms cold), and cereal or some kind of breakfast snack.

Now I can't wait to get started!

Various sizes of ziplock bags. Comes in handy if you purchases snack such as pretzels and only eat a part of the bag. You can seal the rest in a bag and know they will stay fresh and neat in a ziplock and not in the bottom of whatever bag you are carrying. Great for putting phones, camera and such in them if it rains. Or you can make and ice pack for hot days in the park. We carry a backpack cooler bag we got from Target. And make a ziplock ice pack to carry in the backpack.

I always pack my undies, socks in a baggie for each day so when I head to the shower, I just
pick up a baggie and I don't lose anything on the way. I also, pack a sweatshirt as the restaurants
or shows can be a tiny bit chilly and I don't like to be chilly. I also take tip envelopes already filled
and keep them in the room safe labeled for when I need them. I always take 2 pairs of socks so I can
change them mid day along with sneakers. I make 5x6 file cards with any reservation info (like dining
reservation numbers, time, place etc) they stay in safe as well. This time I am taking a small funnel
so I can pour the ice water from CS into my large water bottle with my packet of Crystal Light packet
and that way I won't lose the water or flavoring. It's just a small funnel so it won't take much room in
my bag....

My underwear. We were driving down one year from Connecticut, and I realized it en route. I found a Walmart and re-supplied.

MG
I forgot my underwear on one trip many years ago. Unfortunately it was on a cruise to the Bahamas. Let me tell you, finding underwear in the Bahamas is not an easy task. I haven't forgotten them since. And it's our standard "getting packed for a vacation" joke. "You pack your underwear?"

*Bubble Bath - I have had to drive to Walgreens too many times because I forgot it. Everyone wants to take a bubble bath every single night in the big tub so I bring the biggest Mr. Bubble they sell. And two bottles if it's the OKW tub.
*Clorox Wipes - I wipe down the remotes, door knobs, faucets, toilet seat, tub, fridge handle, stove knobs, all of it as soon as we get there.
*Laundry Supplies - Two loads worth per day; one for towels and one for clothes.
*Ziploc Bags, all sizes - Many uses.
*Magic Bands - Get stuck with gray for a few days and you will never forget again.

I buy cheapest foam soap I can find, usually at our Bath & Bodyworks outlet. I absolutely hate sharing "bar soap" at the sink for hand washing.
I bring a very cheap toothbrush holder and a soap dish like thing for the shower, too.

3.) I will never, ever, ever go without Moleskin & scissors! I know i can buy moleskin at Dis if need be but will not go there without it.

1. Scissors- I forgot these one year and had no way to cut moleskin for blister prevention. We had to drive off site to buy a pair.

:rotfl2:
I know this pain. I was good and packed moleskin for our fall trip...but never even thought about scissors. We ended up cutting it enough with my mom's nail clippers to tear strips. It was good for putting a big patch on the top of my feet where my sandal straps rubbed, but ultimately I kind of preferred the heavy duty cloth bandaids I'd packed. Didn't need scissors for those; I'd just put a handful in my pack every day and whenever one got unstuck I'd replace it right then. They're pretty big, too, so I was able to use them pretty much the same way I'd use moleskin.

Along with what's been said so far:
- power strip, especially if there's more than 2 people on one room

-brita filter bottle: I'm a water snob & it's awesome

-scissors: never fails we need them

- liquid hand soap: like pp said, I hate bar soap too. Extra points if I find a fun Disney kind (one trip they had mouse head shaped bottles at target & i used that for a long while).

Snacks: if we aren't doing the DDP, we bring stuff like peanut butter crackers, granola bars, loaf of bread with PB & jelly, etc. for breakfast (along with coffee & our 4 cup coffee maker) & in the park. Plus buying it at home saves some time when we get there- though I might buy a bag of Joffereys coffee when we get down to property next trip.

In no particular ode
1: A powerstrip
2: Portable phone chargers
3: OTC medications (Advil, Tylenol, neosporin, tums, etc)
4: A travel organizer handle bag of cosmetics and shower
5: Emergency pack of bandaids

I'm going with the idea that you don't mean things like money, ID, and any travel papers.
#1 My medications
#2 Sunscreen
#3 Cell phone and portable charger
#4 Mole skin pre-cut into various shapes
#5 Rain poncho
#6 Wet wipes-good for that drippy ice cream bar or just to cool down with
#7 Bandaids
#8 Cross body bag for the park (and to hold all of the above)
#9 2 pairs of shoes. My feet are much happier when I rotate shoes every other day
#10 Pajamas. Yep, one time I packed two pj tops and no bottoms. Had to buy a pair of pants in the resort gift shop

Post-it notes for the toilet sensors to avoid freaked out kids!
Wet wipes and prescriptions.
Whatever the kids' "sleeping toy" is at the moment - you might be tempted to leave it at home so it won't get lost, but that is a huge mistake.

I have a packing spreadsheet that I modify for each trip. It saves me the hassle and I can make adjustments as I think of them. Here are some things I like to include:

* Bodyglide! I use this as a runner/walker and it's a godsend! Rub it on hot spots (like inner thighs, under bra lines) and no chafing.
* Ziploc bags - absolutely agree with everyone on this front! I'm actually a big fan of the ziptop bags from Ikea as they seem thicker for toiletries
* Clickable sharpie - this is my favorite to keep for character signatures and writing on maps
* Bandanas - small and easily packed, they're super handy as a last minute hair accessory, to wipe a sweaty face, use an emergency napkin, etc...
* Chewable Pepto Bismol - in case of any tummy issues from food or rides and no water needed
* Earplugs - I have actually worn earplugs while on Dinosaur as it seems loud to me. Also used for sleeping if someone is sawing logs later.
* Fitbit and charger - I like to know how much I've walked during the trip and use the alarm feature on it
* Foldable bag - like a nylon shopping bag with pouch. Good for the pool and/or to pack in your day bag and use while shopping or as needed
* Safety pins - pin a few inside your daybag for wardrobe malfunctions. I've saved other people's day with these!
* Got2b Glued hairspray - this is my go-to hair product. When I had long hair I could do a princess updo bun and spray it with this and it would stay all day long. Now that I have short hair, I still use it as it has true all day hold and yet brushes out the end of the day without the white flaking of most hairsprays.

Cork screw and plastic wine glass for that glass of relaxing wine in the room after a wonderful, fun filled day!

Replacement batteries for the stroller fan and the little screwdriver to open the battery compartment.

Just an FYI, if you call Mousekeeping they will bring you an eye glass repair kit free. My glasses broke on ME on the way to our resort last Sept. When I arrived I went to the gift shop looking for a kit. I asked the CM and she told me to all Mousekeeping. 10 minutes later one was delivered to my room.

Instead of moleskin which is a pain and slips I buy "Wrights" brand low profile socks. They come with no blister guarantee. The friction is removed because they have two layers. The ones I buy Are Wright Sock Cool Mesh Two" They are thin layers not bulky and make feet feel cool.
Other items of note:
Alfamo Cooling towel..Nice and long, wet it, wring it, snap it twice and boom cool relief. lasts about 20-30 minutes, snap it and boom good to go.

Sketchers air sneakers..the ones with the bubbles..Great park shoes

Auto inflate seat cushion..rolls into a small tube and great for hard seating in the parks!
