I just heard that someone I know stayed at the Contemporary in one room with 2 adults and 5 kids. Yes I said 5. I figure why not? You are only in you room to basically sleep. Me though, I would get caught.

7 people (5 of them kids) in one of those rooms? :earseek: That sounds like punishment enough!!!!

If you are that desperate to save money, you deserve the terrible time you are going to have in those close quarters!

If they were planning on doing EMH they couldn't because everyone has to have a resort card unless they are under 3.

That was my thought too. And if there were more than one child under 3 in that one room...well, talk about a living nightmare!!!

Besides sleeping, they'll probably use bus or monorail service, as well as enjoy the deluxe hotel amenities (pool, waterslide, arcade, snack bar area, etc). Imagine if everyone had 7 people, large or small, in a room designed for 5; particularly at peak season. Ever notice people don't think occupancy rules apply to them?

Also, hope the rooms are better sound-proofed at the Cont than the AS Resorts. We didn't need to order a wake-up call each morning, the the screaming children in the surrounding rooms more than sufficed. Yes, we do early magic hours and I do have my own little darlings who also get excited at WDW. I imagine it's more difficult to "reign them in" in large batches. :teeth:

where in the heck would they all sleep?!?!?!? in the bathroom? on the floor between the beds?

hey, i am all for saving a buck and i love "roughing it" in my camper - we even camp at disney - but cramming 7 people into one hotel room is just silly. that would suck! either get one of those suites off site (less expensive) or pay up for two rooms at a value, or rent a cabin at FW....something, anything, would be better than stepping over each other like rats.

can you imagine all the suitcases and souvies all over the room?!?!? lets hope there are no teenage girls in that bunch. the shoes alone would take up half the room.

People shouldn't do this, BUT I am sure it is possible with sleeping bags. We have a hotel here that will rent a conference room to your for slumber parties and our Girl Scout troop (10 of us) were all in one room with 1 bathroom. So I can see how it can be done (also, we have camped in our popup with 6 people before, and there are no bathrooms there!).

Again, I'm not saying they should do this this (I know it is wrong), but I can see how they can do it.

First of all let me say: I am against resort pool hopping, reusing refillable mugs, more than 5 to a room, but I am still amazed sometimes, being the new guy around here, how irritated people get when these topics come up...

I am, however, not against taking your kids out of school for vacation. Another topic that seems to fire people up.

Let me also add I am against war, hunger and the destruction of the environment!

I think that people who do this see it as victimless, and educating them, as to why it is not victimless, is likely to change their behavior.

This is not as victimless as one might think.

If anyone is thinking of doing this consider the following:
- fire safety and codes
- water and other resource consumption
- example being set for children

Heaven help them if somebody comes down with the tummy flu...can you imagine in such close quarters...one bathroom....ick.

I guess they wanted a mono rail resort....but I'm almost positive you could get adjoining rooms at a value resort for less than one room at a deluxe.

Aargh! I hate reading topics like this!

I guess since my 2 brothers, mom, dad, and me shared a room at Port Orleans, I'm totally lacking morals and values! Give me a break!

While I can't even fathom nine people in a room (and the fact that it's nine is outrageous, don't get me wrong), sometimes having five in a room is the only way folks can head to Disney.

Granted, our family has now moved on to own DVC, so that we don't have to 'cheat' the system (so you say). But, still...I can't stand it when people get up on their high horse and say that people shouldn't go to WDW if they put 5 folks in a room.

Aargh! [Let the flaming begin!]

I agree that is it not a victimless crime but I think the big issue is being a bad example for your children. However, if you want to talk about setting a bad example for your children at Disney, in my experience there are many issues we could discuss. In the end people have to live with themselves.

Wouldn't it been about as cheap if not cheaper for them to book two connecting rooms at a value or moderate than staying in the contemporary. I men most everyone would love to stay in a deluxe but sometimes that is just not possible or logical and I say a family staying in 1 room at a resort is not very smart or logical. I wouldn't want to be in that room. 1 bathroom for 7 people :earseek:

5 People to a room is fine at POR, we have stayed there legally and comfortably as a family of 5 twice.

Eh...human nature and all...certain topics set people off! I've been guilty! :teeth: My vacation has never been ruined if I ever witnessed any of "said" offenses but at times they have irked me...for a second...and I move on having a fantastic time!

I think the basic idea of common curtesy, rule breakers et al. will get on anyones nerves at least once nevermind vacation time at WDW but I tend to think mostly all of us move on...some quicker than others maybe?!

There are exceptions to every rule but who doesn't like, for example, the "offense" if seen of waiting in line patiently with their kids and a few try and "cut" in front. ;) Drives me nuts but does it ruin my trip? No way!

The "boards" can be seen as a way to vent once in a while with, doesn't this bother any body else kind of thing and does make for some interesting reading. :teeth:

I've tried to behave about jumping on the band wagon with an "irk" but eh...life is short...if WDW is perfect and nothing ever annoys some people and life is sunshine and roses all the time...I always say good for them!!

With 30+ trips...I have seen some things...may not bother anyone else...I always try and reason it out and rationalize it...usually works...sometimes it doesn't but in no way does it EVER ruin my whole vacation! :flower:

Yeah, that's right. Let's teach our kids to be dishonest and cheat!!!!!!!!!!!

This is a bit of a stretch, don'tcha think?? Who among us sits down with their children and discusses every tiny detail of their trip, including the occupancy regulations at their chosen accomodations?
