and people who think they are the greatest and everyone pales by comparison.

Where is ethic, decorum and grace in the workplace? I am sorry to say but I think my generation is a bunch of badly raised putzs.

Needed to vent..... please join me if you care to! :teeth:

I saw a coffee mug that you could use at work... it says "I see dumb people" :rotfl2:

Go ahead... vent away... we've all got co-workers that drive us nuts!

I have a sticker on my desk, I got at DTD that says

"Be Nice or Leave -Thank YOU"

I'm with you - I really like most of my co-workers, but some of them are so LAZY...it truly amazes me. One of my closest co-workers and I coined the phrase BOFI to describe the LAZY ones - can you guess what it means? Has something to do with a bunch of idiots :rotfl:

The queen has arrived...
The master has arrived....
Makes you sick just to look at them. And - they haven't even spoken yet!

Yes, we all know the type. (Unfortunately!)

Love the BOFI term :thumbsup2

Our office is full of lazy people who try to get away with everything. Come in at 9, take 1 1/2 hour lunch, leave at 4 and complain about how hard they worked and how long their day was.........phone rings at 4:30, staff for that atty gone, who do you think has to field the calls and stay late to do their urgent work for them?

Fast forward, those of us who have actually worked full time are happy that the firm got a time-punch system on the computers. Certain employees are in the bathroom, crying and asking, "why do I have to work 8 hours like everyone else?" I just shrugged. Another complains that she was only 5-10 minutes late, every now and then (try an hour, at least). Another says she doesn't think it's fair that your lunch hour starts when you leave your desk instead of when you get to a restaurant. :confused3

What happened to work ethic?

Ughh, I didn't want to be the one to start, glad someone else did.

Seems like we work with the same people. They come strolling in an hour or 2 later (sometimes more) of what they sign in, leave earlier that what they sign out.

And the language. Why do I have to hear F-this & F-that at work? It's bad enough to hear it walking down the street coming from a woman with her little kids in tow. It's not only offensive but very unprofessional. If I'm on a business call, can you imagine the image the person on the other end gets when they hear that in the background.

One guy I work with always has to use profanity when he talks to me like I'm one of the guys. I've politely asked him, then told him not to use that language with me. He still does it. He's okay otherwise (the smell issue was corrected awhile ago) so I don't want to get him in trouble & the only person I don't like in the place happens to be his boss, so I don't want to talk to her about it. But I'm sick of hearing it. It's not because he's angry, it's just his everyday language, like "I have to go to the bank today & take out money for my kid's d*mn dental appt". WTH? (that's heck!) :teeth:

There's a time & place (usually in the car while driving amongst the nutjobs) to use that language, not work.

Oh, I could tell so many stories, some of the things I've seen  . But I'll stop now, seems to have turned into my rant.

I take it you saw my post about my Psycho CoIrker. The one who...

Comes in late every day because she has to drive her 17-year-old son to school (heaven forbid he might have to ride the bus!)

Spends 2 hours making coffee and going around chit-chatting.

Takes a 20-minute smoke break every hour.

Demands that the window behind me be opened when it's 40 degrees outside and the AC be turned on because "it's 65 degrees inside - it's like a sauna in here!"

But doesn't like said AC blowing in her face, so she turns the vents so it blows directly into MY face.

Plays her IPOD at top volume.

Sings along out loud with said IPOD.

Smacks the boss. And anyone else that says something that she doesn't like.

Leaves at least 15 minutes early to go pick up son.

Complains that she's swamped with work (after only being at her desk for 4.5 out of 9.5 hours a day).

When work bins are full, sits at her desk playing on masslive.com and making photo collages of her son.

Moves work into other people's work bins so it looks like she has nothing to do, so she can play on masslive.com and make photo collages of her son.

Calls son and DH/life partner (I'm not sure if they're married) at least 2x per day each and yells at them for some minor infraction.

In the parking lot, will motion to you to go ahead and walk to your car, but floors the accelerator of her car when you start walking, misses you by an inch or so, and laughs.

Rats on you to the boss that YOU'RE the one doing all of the above (I don't even have kids!)

I used to have a manager who injured her ankle in Sept (many years ago). She had to take off early or come in late for therapy.

The therapy stopped in mid June, then her ankle started acting up again & she had to resume therapy in September.

Oh yes, she had a school age son also. I'm sure it was just a coincidence.

Don't we all?

I dont know what 'your generation' is...BUT ITA!

I have a sign in my office that says "Stupid Co-Workers CAN Kill You"
I have been working fulltime for 28 years now.....and I am amazed just how more inconsiderate, dumb & foolish many of my peers are! :confused3

Just last week on September 20th I recieved A VERY IMPORTANT EMAIL from the BIG Cheese about Something I HAD TO KNOW before a HIGHLY IMPORTANT meeting that was scheduled & held on September 6th!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

BTW He too attended this meeting and never once mentioned this EXTREMLEY important info! :confused3

That is just one instance!!

I am lucky and greatful to say that I now work at home full time. I don't have to go into the office anymore and deal with the BOFI's :rotfl:

My office was full of the "it's all about me" mentality. Now I only have to deal with myself, and that can be a handful sometimes too, :guilty:

I think we have worked for the SAME Manager!!!!!

Did yours also go BLIND one day a work and hold onto the cubicle walls screaming hysterically...THREE TIMES IN A ONE MONTH PERIOD!!!

Did yours call in sick 102 times in a one year on seperate occasions....AND THEN WIN Employee of the year award!

Did yours... in a 3 year time span have a ambulance rush her from the office to a hospital 7 times!

Did yours send out EVERY piece of email to customers completely wrong, and the customers called YOU up to say "What the H$%^ is going on?" on a daily basis?

At 9:07 tomorrow morning, I'm going to yell "BOFI!!" down the hallway...yell back if you hear me. K?

It's truly amazing how some people keep their jobs. I think the motto around my place is "Don't make waves". In other words, we don't want to be bothered trying to actually have the employees be productive.

I wished I had been writing down a lot of the stuff I hear about going on at work, could have had a hit sitcom. Sounds like a lot of us could.

There already is!

Watch "The Office" on Thursday nights NBC! It HITS sooooo close to home!...ONLY The show is HYSTERICAL! :lmao:

Oh boy...where to start...

Where I work we have 2 sets of really busy weeks during the year, so we hire on extra people to help out. We have hired some winners.

Exhibit A: The guy who asked my boss for an advance on his paycheck...on his FIRST day.

Exhibit B: The girl who wore shorts that were almost too short to be classified as shorts and slumped over in a chair, played computer all day, and would routinely double her lunch break and vanish for the rest of the day.

Exhibit C: The guy who talked incessently about the weather, skipped through the store singing "tralalalalalala tralalalalalala," wanted to have hour long conversations about what you were having for lunch and whether or not he liked it, and when cakes were brought in would finish most of one by himself and then bounce off the walls for the next hour and a half.

Exhibit D: The girl who would stand behind the counter talking to her friends and not doing anything- until a customer came in, at which point she'd stand up, look over at me or my friend (both of us actually busy doing work, mind you) and say, "Could you get that?" She also refused to learn my name (even though we worked together for several months and we all wore nametags!!!) I finally went passive aggressive and refused to respond when she called me by the wrong name.

Prosecution rests.

I bet we do work at the same place - 'cause there's only a few dingbats living in CT! :rolleyes1
