Haven't done my trip report and all my reviews yet but I have to get this out there for those heading down soon. I honestly felt (as did DH) that Hollywood and Vine was absolutely the pits! We will never waste time, points, money on that place again. Food wasn't good other than 2 side dishes, meats were awful, 5 different chicken dishes!!!!, yuck, yuck, and more yuck.

Best parts of the whole thing were the kids macaroni and cheese and a spoon cornbread dish. Otherwise, forget it!:sad2:

omg, that was my fave dish evah! The rest, meh. But I could say that about countless buffets at WDW. The food is just not that great when prepared to feed the masses.

And gee, thanks. Now I'm craving that cornbread dish. ;)

btw, the saving grace of H&V were the characters. My kids loved seeing June, Leo, Goliath and the gang!

Wow, we love that place. I mean, its buffet food, but its pretty good. As long as you understand that you are getting buffet food, then no big deal.

For me, Mama Melrose was a blech experience with food and service. but, to each their own.

We just cancelled our Fantasmic dinner package there for our upcoming trip. Way too many bad reviews!

Went in 2005 and for a buffet there wasnt that many choices. Food was very bland, and cold I vowed Id never go back

Although I cancelled the dinner, we have done the Play and Dine breakfast there and that was great. Not crowded, decent food. The breakfast gets a much better rating than dinner from what I have read.

I could not agree with you more, the food was awful and the service was terrible. We will not go back there either

That is the ONLY place on Disney property that I will never eat at again. When I saw this thread title, I thought "That's GOT to be about H & V!

I have never been to H&V, but thanks to the reviews here, I certainly won't be going unless it changes. I can appreciate your feeling of urgency to post your comment. I have felt the same way about some of the restaurants at DW and I can't wait to "unload" when I get home. In all fairness, there have been more good surprises than bad.

I knew where you were talking about before I even opened the thread! I have never been but have read a ton of bad reviews.

I think you need to identify whether or not you are a buffet person before you go to any restaurant offering this kind of fare. I HATE buffets :scared1: . Chinese, American, Italian, I know I hate them and if I walk into a restaurant and see that I walk right back out. If you are going to use a buffet, you will have to expect semi-warm pre-cooked food that may or may not be edible. I just avoid them at all costs! If that makes me a food snob, so be it! But I know myself well enough to not allow a buffet to ruin my good time when dining out.

We don't mind buffets if the food is good, like we have found Cape May Cafe and 1900 Park Faire, but we dined at H&V around 5:30 one afternoon and it was awful.

I wouldn't say I'm a "buffet person" nor am I one to run from them either. I disagree that you can't have good food in a buffet setting. I have had several. This had to rank up there with the worst I've ever had. Seriously. I would have eaten a boiled hotdog over the yuck they had there other than the mac n cheese and that cornbread stuff. I have to get that recipe!!!! lol

I respect your sentiments and can understand where you are coming from but seriously, this was just really bad food.

My gut told me it had to be H&V's dinner when I read the title too. ;) ;)

We've had several enjoyable buffet meals - Crystal Palace, Biergarten and 1900 PF to name a few, at WDW. But, we've done H&V twice and regretted it twice!

Our experience at H & V was Awful!!!!
Cold, bad food, surly waitress, filthy unbussed tables, noisy restaurant and filthy Rest Rooms.
Nothing - not even free food - would get me back there again.
I know buffet and I expected a buffet experience. This was horrid!!!!

For us, the two restaurants that we won't return to are Sci-Fi and Le Cellier.

Sci-Fi is a great restaurant in terms of atmosphere and location, but food and service were mediocre at best.

Le Cellier, while the food and service were decent, is ridiculously overrated. There were not any bad or mediocre parts of our meal, however I think for the amount of time I wasted trying to get an ADR there, the food should have been a lot better. I'm not recommending to not go to Le Cellier, just go there with expectations of any other WDW/Epcot restaurant. :)

Puhleeze! If you get that recipe pass it on to me. What the hell was that stuff? I went up for thirds and I'm low carbing!!! That stuff ruined me! :lmao:

I didn't dig any of the buffets at WDW. But the All-You-Can-Eat at the Whispering Canyon Cafe was so good! Best chicken and beans (corn too) I've had in a long time. The pulled pork was really good too.

A caveat: stay away from Disney chicken. What is that? Pressed chicken? Frozen chicken? It was in the salads and wraps. Seriously, I kid you not, it was like faux chicken. By day 8, I was done. That's my .02.
