I Won The Year Of A Million Dreams

Is to fly in May, SW Airlines has great offers, and in Dec, we are driving. We are going from Mass, and my GPS says 1075 miles to the SSR front door......We are hoping to go 2x a year...a getaway for us for a few days, then a week with the kids....we are even talking about getting married in WDW in 2011!!! We are still shell shocked over this....I should change my tagline to 3 nights and still no sleep :)

my only suggestion to you is to figure out your points. 220 isn't enough for all those days unless you are planning to stay in studios...I am pretty sure that a week in a 1 bdrm is about 210-220ish....haven't checked in a while.

look at your use year and when your allotments come in. you should be able to borrow the difference for your 3-4 weekend in may.

good luck and congrats !! that is the ultimate prize in my eyes. and I am bit envious of NO PAYMENTS !!!!!:goodvibes :thumbsup2
I still owe for 5 more yrs...I think ;)

To everyone for making me feel at home, and all the kind words....I am hoping this week all of my verification process is done, and I can soon book!! We are so excited over this!! One thing we did notice, the 2007 YOMD rules had 3 prizes of club memberships, and the updated 2008 site says 2!!!! YAHHHOOOO!!!!

One quick question..I notice some people have points in more than one resort....As a member, do you get to purchase points for resorts without paying the initial cost of membership?

you are not actually paying for membership....that part of your money paid for 220 points at SSR. there are no fees except closing fees to do with the deed. you are paying for the POINTS....the going rate is around $98ish per point to buy SSR or AKL w/ the deal I think. That is all you pay..no additional fees for membership into dvc.
We own at 2 resorts and we only paid to for the points at each resort.
I hope that makes sense for you.
;)

We have been figuring out our points system just now :)

We figure about 80 points for our May getaway, and 95 for our december week.

that leaves us about 40 to bank...Next year, we take the kids to AKL hopefully for a week in October, a 1 bedroom, and thats about 155 I believe....That leaves us around 100 for our getaway. Right now, we can get by with 1 bedrooms with the kids, with an air mattress....

We are lucky..no closing fees either :)

Ok..So we won the membership at SSR, with 220 points, valued at around $23,000. If we wanted to buy 100 points at AKL, it would cost us about $10,000 right? Did I get that figure right?

We have been figuring our points for our next 3 years of vacations..I cannot wait!!!

Congratulations and WELCOME HOME!! :dance3: I always wondered about those people that won the DVC memberships. Its great to know that one of them is part of our DIS community!! :grouphug:

Hey, "CPDWIZ"...we're neighbors (Agawam)! It's so great to see that a fellow Western MA disney fan won such a fantastic prize. We own at AKV and we LOVE the DVC's. Congratulations and enjoy all of your DVC vacations!

I am guessing you are cutting out some weekend nights and planning on booking AKL value rooms...those are a good deal.
155 for a 1 bdrm is awesome. My Dsis is paying 252 pts for 1 week this year Apr 26 - May 3rd.

Congrats again !!!! Being able to plan all your vacations without having to worry about how to pay for the room is awesome, isn't it? ;) :goodvibes

:goodvibes WOW...Congratulations and Welcome Home SSR Neighbor!!!!!

What an amazing prize!!! So happy for you! (I'll admit a little jealous too...lol...We only have 150 points at SSR and can't wait to add more this year or next!!)

:) I have tears in my eyes for happiness for you and I don't even know you.

You sound very derserving of this prize because you really appreciate it.

Welcome to the club and enjoy.....the planning part is so much fun:flower3:

In case you don't have this site already. http://www.tagrel.com/dvcCompChart.shtml

putting in Nov 30-Dec 7 it's 184 points for a 1 bedroom and 95 points for a studio.

You can cut that number by cutting out the weekend nights (which are sometimes almost twice as many points as a week night)

Just wanted to say CONGRATS!!!! You are very lucky. We just bought the DVC and are very excited:banana: . I couldn't imagine winning. We are from Western Mass also (Palmer). We are very haapy for you

Hi again...I did this site, and compared....My points book shows more points than the site....Is the site accurate or is it close?

One of the forum moderators has a trio of programs that will help you to plan your vacations and track your DVC points. Check them out here.
