I Won a Trip to Disney World!

I got my paperwork today to start planning the trip. I have to rank the resorts in the order I prefer. I would have hands-down chosen the Poly because I have always wanted to stay there but couldn't afford to but now with the construction, I'm not so sure.

It will be myself, my husband, and two daughters ages 10 and 19. We will be trying to go in May (if available).

The trip is officially booked. We had to number the deluxe resorts in order of preference. We put BC as #1 (DD10 wanted this because of Stormalong Bay), WL #2 (DH wanted this because he liked the theme), and AKL #3 (DD19 and I wanted this option) We got an email and it said that we will be staying at AKL 5/13/2014 - 5/18/2014. Everyone is really happy with getting AKL especially since we found out that we will have an Arusha View room. One of the nights will be in the Cinderella Suite but they haven't told us which night yet. So far I booked ADRs for Boma and Le Cellier. I might book a couple more but I haven't decided yet. Breakfast at Cinderella's Royal Table is included in the stay in the suite. This is going to be the longest three months of my life.

Wow, that is a nice prize!! Before you accept, talk to your accountant or CPA because the government (both Federal and State) is going to tax you. It depends on your tax bracket but that "prize" would have cost me about $4,000 to $5,000 in taxes. I wonder if you could sell it, then pay the taxes and still have money for a decent vacation?

That's not a bad price to pay for a WDW trip especially for staying at a Deluxe with airfare and such.

Everything is pretty much finalized for the trip. Our trip is 5/13/14 to 5/18/14. We will stay at AKL in an Arusha View room. The night of of 5/17 we will go to the Cinderella Suite. Below are the details they emailed me about the stay in the suite. Can't wait!!!

May 16th
Prepare your overnight bag for tomorrow’s stay in the Cinderella Castle Suite.

May 17th
You overnight bag should be ready and waiting for tonight’s adventure. Feel free to leave your overnight bag with bell services for easy retrieval this afternoon.

2:30 p.m. Prepare for your return to Disney’s Animal Kingdom Lodge.
4:00 p.m. Meet the Castle Suite Concierge in the lobby of your hotel, Please be sure to collect your overnight bag from the bellmen or your hotel room prior to 4:00 p.m. The Castle Suite Concierge Guide will escort you and your guests to Magic Kingdom Park and the Cinderella Castle Suite. Once inside the Cinderella Suite, you and your guests will receive a guided tour of the Suite, learn about the amenities and have time to settle in. Afterwards, you have the option to enjoy the suite or enjoy Magic Kingdom or another Disney Theme Park. Please advise the Castle Concierge when you leave the suite so arrangements can be made for your return.

May 18th
9:00 a.m. Breakfast and Check Out Time. The Castle Suite Concierge will escort you to breakfast at Cinderella’s Royal Table.
Just prior to breakfast you will have the opportunity to take a photo with Cinderella. Breakfast vouchers will be provided.
Following your dining experience, you and your guests may return to the suite to gather your belongings.

You will have the option to stay in Magic Kingdom® Park for the day or the Castle Suite Concierge will make arrangements to transport your luggage back to your hotel after breakfast. Use the Walt Disney World® Resort transportation system to visit one of the other Disney Theme Parks.

We had a lot of options. The only limitations were certain block out dates (below), it must be at least two months from the date we were notified of winning, and within two years of winning. Because of the stay in the Cinderella Suite, we had to stay over a Saturday night.

Travel dates can be booked up to your prize expiration date. The 2014 block out dates:

January 1-3

February 16-23

April 12-26

November 27-30

December 17-31
