This morning . . .two robins were chasing each other and crashed into my sunroom . . .they hit pretty hard . . . :( I'm hoping they were just stunned and fly away . . .

I always hated that sunroom!

That is so sad:( but, I have to tell you, this happens at my Mother-in-laws all the time. She has a huge(the whole side of her house) glass slider and we are always finding dead birds outside her house.
I hope your bird has flown away safe :)

That used to happen at my mom's house all the time. They put an addition onto the back of the house, and 90% of the walls were windows. birds were CONSTANTLY flying into them.

You'd be sitting there quitely watching TV...all of a sudden - WHAM! My mom had to flip a couple dead ones into the woods behind us so the dog wouldn't play with it!

ewww!!

I have bird feeders out side my house w/plenty of birds I lost a wood pecker once because he crashed into my picture window, I now have some window clings (stick on decorations on my window to break up the clear glass) to prevent it from happening again. Or some people hang suncatchers in their windows.

Yup, birds actually bang into widows all the time. Its cause they can't see their reflection or the reflection of trees in really clean glass. Some window clings or anything to break up the clear glass effect should solve the problem. And i hope the birds lived.

Quite often they see their reflection and think it's another bird.

We heard a huge crash once coming from our bedroom. We ran upstairs expecting to see a broken window and were amazed at the most perfect print of the birds wings instead - it looked a big bird too! :D

what a shame! Those poors widows losing their husbands and then birds crashing into them. :p

I had one hit our bay window and I saw it laying on the porch stiff as board. I knew it was dead. :( I went inside to find something to scoop it up with. I came out 10 minutes later and it was gone! I guess it had just been knocked out! :teeth:

We get birds like that in all the time. Depending on how hard they hit some have to be put down because of neurological problems.

When that used to happen when I was younger we used to put the stunned bird in a paperbag in the closet. Leave it for about an hour and let it go outside. You'd be amazed what a warm, dark quiet place can do for a stunned animal :) It works pretty good.

Aw :( It's always a good idea to take them in and see if they can recover. A stunned bird outside might not make it just due to predation, even if it isn't hurt badly.

Now you wanna talk about BIRDICIDE... I was walking around a pond once, and my dog pounced into a bush and came out with a duck in his mouth! I smacked him and made him drop it, and the duck waddled into the pond. Then this other duck comes up to that one -- bites it around the neck, sits on it, and pushed its head under the water UNTIL IT WAS DEAD!!! It was so horrifying!!!

I'll have to buy some sun catchers!

We have windows across the entire backside of our den and this happens too often. Our house backs up to woods and there are trees everywhere so tons of birds!

Even though birds give me the heebie jeebies I don't want them dead unless they are attacking me :p

I don't have many birds crash into my windows but I hate it so much when a bird kills itself on my car. This happens a couple of times every year. It always makes me feel so bad :(
