Did you notice that the cell phone video and coverage of the country wide protest over the election in Iran STOPPED. and a few days later (enough time for the Iranian goverment to round up the protesters) there is nothing, but a heck of a lot on who give MJ pills and where they are.

they seriously got their priorities goofed up.

a year from now it will just be a footnote that, oh yeah, the wierd dancing guy died this date last year.

Just saw a report on media coverage. 7 US Soldiers died yesterday in Afghanistan and that story received 13 seconds of coverage on CBS news last night, the same newscast had 13 minutes of coverage of someone who had been dead 10 days.

I'd love to see more coverage on the wars in the Middle East, lots more. I'm the OP here and I want to admit that although I have watched no other Michael Jackson specials, I enjoyed the memorial service today. I seriously have watched nada-zero of the other programs.

As sad as it is, they report what the people want. If people weren't watching, and they weren't getting the ratings, they would report something else.

I tuned in to see Al Sharpton throw his support behind an aging white woman for once.

John Mayer stole the show, he turned an otherwise crappy song into something I could listen to.

And I used to be this guys biggest fan. I even got coveted tickets to his Victory Tour at Dodger Stadium. I will never forget it thats for sure, it was quite the show. This was back when he was bigger then the president and what he did that day led the network news stations. People whining about the coverage now must of forgotten what it was like back in the day when there weren't as many channels and all of them were covering Michael. I tried explaining to my kids how big this guy was and they were naming every modern day star and I kept going nopt not even close. I am not shocked at the amount of coverage at all. Had this happened back in the 80s I can only imagine. The only thing in my lifetime I can compare this to is Princess Di but she was a good person without all the baggage. That was truly sad. I honestly can't believe anyone would cry over this. How many people cried for anna nicold smith?

Guys, we can't blame the news here. The fact of the matter is that nothing else of note is happening anywhere else in the world so the "news" has to begrudgingly cover the freak show (or freak funeral I guess).

Think about it, if there were countries hostile to the west testing missiles they would cover it. If there were protests in the streets of Iran over election results they would cover it. If bills were being passed in the house without getting read they would cover it. If soldiers were dying fighting for us they would cover it. If the CDC was presenting a forced immunization plan to congress they would cover it.

But, alas, nothing of note is happening so the "news" is stuck covering MJ. I'm just wondering when they will get back to the real news like Steve Jobs' return to Apple or A-Rod banging hookers and taking steroids.

Oh and if some of you could manage to make the switch scary as it seems to Fox News it is NOT all about MJ. I have been watching all day. The only thing more disgusting then some of the speakers at the memorial service is Greta Van Susterns girl crush on Sarah Palin. I swear she is stocking her and that in itself is funny because the rest of us no longer care. They are showing all sorts of other stories on te economy, laws in congress and some other stuff. They are mentioning the dead soldiers as I listen right now on Glenn Beck. There are other news outlets out there and they are number one for a reason, they know what their viewers want to see, minus the stalking of Palin.
