I wish I had remembered/ thought to pack ...

A power strip for the room is a life saver for all of those chargers we seem to need, like cameras and cell phones. I also brought a folding mesh laundry basket for our dirty laundy. It helped to keep the room more organized.

Other items I wish I had packed:-

1) An extension cord so that I didn't tie up the bathroom while using the curling iron

2) Extra sunglasses - I find that I need to rotate between the two pairs I own, because I end up with sore spots behind my ears if I wear the same pair for extended periods

3) Reading material - I decided not to pack a book to cut down on the weight, but I really missed my reading fix. I'm seriously thinking of getting the Amazon Kindle for future travel

Don't want to hijack the post...but if you are at all inclined GET the KINDLE!! it is great. I have the 1st model and I bring it everywhere...it is especially great for travel. My favorite item to pack!

I really wish I would have brought three swimsuits each instead of two. We'd usually go swimming in the mid-afternoon (to take a break) and then we'd swim or hot tub sometimes at night. It seems like the next day we'd go to put them on for a swim and they'd still be very cold and damp. It was bad...

You're right - putting on a wet swim suit is very uncomfortable. When we went to the swim meet last weekend, I packed 8 suits for DD and she used them all. Three were for warm-ups (two warm-ups per day - one in the a.m. session, and one in the p.m. and the morning suit would never dry in time to be used in the afternoon!) Then, there were three were for racing - when she finished one race, she'd change into another one - thankfully they're quick drying so there was always a dry suit available for the next race. And finally, there were the 2 recreational suits for the hotel pool.

The eight suits for one weekend might seem a bit psychotic - but last year, DD developed cystitis and a bladder infection that eventually led to a kidney infection which left her in pain and discomfort for weeks after! One of the contributing factors was sitting around for extended periods in a wet swim suit, waiting for the next race. We spent a small fortune in medical bills. The poor child was miserable for weeks.

After that experience, I decided that I'd rather spend the money on a swimsuit surplus than have DD suffer like that again. As far as I am concerned, you can never pack too many swimsuits!

Thanks - I'll definitely check it out!

Experience from previous trips:

additional pair of walking shoes/sneakers - alternate to keep feet from getting blisters

cold medicine, advil, tylenol - costly to purchase @ Disney

Water goggles for pool and water parks

large safety pins come in handy when securing the beach towel to the outside railing to dry - this way it doesn't blow down to the 1st floor - clothes pins usually don't hold up if breezy

moleskin and scissors to cut it

wall adapter to recharge your ipod

power bar to hook up your additional eletrical devises (battery charger, curling iron, electric razor, etc)

electric kettle to boil water for tea, oatmeal in the mornings

soft-sided cooler to pack with ice to pack each night for juice boxes and milk for breakfasts and to have cold water available

brita water bottle to filter out that foul tasing disney tap water :scared:

The one thing I seemed to need last time was a small backpack. I carried a waistpack but was not big enough when suddenly everyone is carrying a water bottle or something and you want to go on a ride or something that you need your hands for such as Buzz Lightyear Spin.
The other thing I wish I had brought was an extra suitcase, when you pack them full when you leave for Disney and then you end up buying souveniers and stuff, we ended up over the weight limit at the airport, thank goodness we had my mother in law with us so we could put extra stuff in hers to get the weight out of ours so we did not have to pay an extra charge.

ooooooooooooH Okay! I thought they were talking about that powder my DH always wants so he doesn't chafe in the heat:rotfl::rotfl::rotfl:!!!

Now thats a rash guard!!

lol that sounds like my dh he has to have his powder to. I can remember one trip forgetting it and we had to go buy some.

I would say if you have a baby or little one dont for get diaper rash cream. Never know when you might needed it. Works great on older kids and adults to for most any rash. ie mens rashes :lmao:

I'm going to start packing diaper rash cream too - DD11 and I both have sensitive skin, and break out in rashes for the slightest reason. My sister gave me that tip and has given me some of her son's diaper rash cream from time to time. It works well!

It's a $300 wireless reading device.. Kinda like an ipod only book size.

It's awesome! I can't wait to get one. For now, I'm trying to make do with the poor man's kindle - the kindle app for iphone. :)

How funny - I wrote a bit about this on my blog last year:
http://luxurytravelgirl.blogspot.com/2008/04/things-we-bring.html

I travel almost weekly for business and HATE not being able to charge my phones/ipod/laptop easily or without getting REALLY creative and unplugging lamps, using the bathroom outlets, etc. :headache:

Then I found out that Belkin makes a really great mini-surge protector and USB charger. I has 3 full outlets and 2 usb outlets.

LUV it!

FYI --- you can now carry scissors (blades under 4 inches) in your carry on... I almost always have kiddie scissors in my backpack that I use as a carry on, and it's been great to no longer worry about getting them in checked luggage.

Something I wish I'd done differently on my last trip --- brought less food. I was anticipating eating more in the room and snacking more in the parks, but honestly, all I needed were protein bars and fruit snacks, tea bags and drink sticks. I ended up leaving a ton of food in the room, because I'd bought stuff that filled the space in my suitcase. *sigh*

Cheap plastic tumblers - I hate hotel cups because they are so small. Last trip I forgot cups and had to pay $12 for two at the gift shop. They double duty as cereal bowls in the morning. We bring cereal and buy milk at the gift shop.

Diabetic Lancets - I've brought them previous trips and forgot them last time. Sure enough I ended up with a blister and had to use something much less desirable to pop it. They are also great for getting out splinters too. I usually keep them in my mini first aid kit.

More shoes - I brought two pairs last time and should have brought more. Even with the best shoes my feet get tired of them and want something different

The clothespins that someone already mentioned are also great for holding the curtains shut to keep out the light that leaks in.

Last trip I didn't bring a new battery for my pedometer and, sure enough, the battery died and no one at WDW sold this non-standard item. That's now been added to my packing list.

I always pack a nightlight to keep in the bathroom. Waking up in the middle of the night and then trying to find your way around a strange room is not good for toes and corners of beds/walls.

I also always take a flashlight. It's never happened to me at Disney, but I have been at a hotel when the power goes out. Having the emergency flashlight made it much less frighening.

Aerosol deoderant. No matter how comfy and broken-in my shoes are, no matter what kind of socks I have, the only thing that prevents blisters on my feet is the Aerosol deoderant. I've tried Body Glide and everything else mentioned on these boards. As odd as I thought it sounded when I first read it, nothing has worked as well for walking all those Disney miles!

I got a rash guard for my son at disneyshopping.com, it matched his swimsuit and flip flops. I watch and watch until they go on sale.

I don't want to forget my own coffee grounds for the room. I really love coffee and can drink almost any kind but the nescafe coffee they use at disney just doesn't do it for me for a 9 day trip. The container when were done can be used to bring back any breakables or small items that we buy while at WDW.

I also don't want to forget to bring my chargers HOME!!! I had to plug them into the outlets behind the dresser and we were already at the airport when I realized that I left them still plugged in behind it! WDW mailed them to me but it was 2 weeks after I got home before we had them again. That was a pain when we couldn't watch our video's after the trip for a long time.
