I wish I had packed (insert here) for my resort room.....

A permanent marker for labelling the travel mugs between the 3 of us.

Our backscratcher!!!!! :thumbsup2 All it takes is a little too much time in the hot, Florida sun to give you a minor burn and....itchy back INSANITY follows!!! :headache:

Liquid hand soap! The Mickey bar soap dries out my hands way too much!

Oh and thanks the suggestion on the dish detergent paper towels, Happytrouble. I bought a bunch of the palmolive cloths a few year back on clearance. I used my last one in June! I didn't want to have to go back to a little travel size bottle of detergent.

2 trips my laptop!!! It was a trip for just me and my son. I figured it would be easier traveling without it. Since hubby wasn't there to lug in around the airport! :)

In June of last year my son got sick and I had to extend the trip. I wanted my laptop so bad. It's so much easier to look on the airline sites and pick out the flights needed and then call the airlines to make the change.

This June I said "surely I won't need it this time" but sadly the day we arrived I learned of my brother's passing. So I needed to make arrangements to go from Orlando to New Orleans and then back to Dallas. It was such a pain and I blew through 400 mins on a calling card in no time with all the calls to the airlines.

I think this trip the laptop is coming along :)

I always pack........
A Wallflower from Bath and Body
small can of Lysol
a ziploc (snack size) with powdered laundry soap
that way if I run out of clothes I can throw a load in
a roll of quarters or 2
Ponds make up remover cloths
ziplocs
3 plug in for the electrical outlets for all the electronics
it's smaller than a power strip.

Two things:

Tupperware so I can store leftovers. We like room service and i can't tell you how many times my DD ate a hamburger for breakfast left over from the night before.

And a garbage bag for dirty laundry. I don't wash clothes while on vacation and I had having clean clothes mingle with soiled. I just throw the dirty clothes in the bag, and when I get home it's easy to sort the unworn items that can be put right away from those that need washing.

I travel for work so I have my standard - mini-med kit, nail polish remover pads, etc....but for Disney at Christmas.........

HO HO HO

Last Christmas --- it was a 16.5 lb BOX sent ahead !!!

Holiday lights and extension cord for the balcony railing (Boardwalk Inn this year)

Small Christmas tree (get a styrofoam cone and assorted silk Holiday flowers & greens from the Dollar Store - just fill the cone with flowers - it's beautiful!)

special soaps - we are BIG fans of long hot showers after a day in the parks and enjoy the luxury of fabulous soaps only on vacation.

Folding cooler - we stop at the grocery and fill the fridge with milk, cheese, veggie snacks, etc. and put the water, sodas, juice and beer in this cooler. It doesn't leak and the drinks are ICY cold!

Jim brings binoculars for AK --- and I use them most of the time actually

Plastic plates, cups and bowls and utensils from the Christmas Tree Shops (Oh my GOSH do I love that place)......we generally eat one meal a day in the room then we can splurge on Le Cellier, etc a few nights and toss them at the end of the trip.

Extra hangers - you can find a bundle of wire hangers at Walmart for $1.12. I always bring an extra bundle to Disney.

HERE IS A FABULOUS PRIVACY TIP FOR COUPLES TRAVELING TOGETHER.

You can create a dressing area in your room (like the renovated Moderates) with Contact (removable) hooks and a shower curtain. Hang it in the passageway by the shower/sink and the rest of the room and you have a bit more privacy for dressing in the AM.....take it down during the day. Worked GREAT for us 2 years ago and we are using it again on our trip to DL next week with a friend.

We manage to wrestle all of this to the room the first day.....yes, we DO look a bit like the Clampits......but for 9 days this year we can nest very comfortably.

Thanks for the tips!

Sorry folks, but if I need to travel with plug in air fresheners and spare sheets I'm going to stay home. Please don't take offense but I just don't get that. :confused3
I wish I had packed extra discs for the video camera and bought the car charger for it. I purposely turn my cell phone off in the parks unless I have to make a call directly related to my vacation.
As nerdy as it is I wish we went to the parks with fanny packs rather than backpacks because the back pack is a PIA after awhile.
I wish I could afford to bring about 10 times the cash I travel with. Whenever we go to Disney there is always the picture/collectable/photo/ornament/outfit or whatever we fall in love with and can't afford to buy.

I sincerely try to bring a lot of patience and magic to the parks because folks forget that the majority of Disney Magic is: the guests themselves + environment + CMs = wonderful time!

Don't depend on others to make or break your trip. Own your vacation and be proactive to make it the way YOU want.

That's a great thing to bring!!

your post cracked me up, cuz i joke with my mom that our family always looks like the clampet's til we are at our destination, and all organized! after a bit more thinking though, i don't know if we are like the clampets or the griswold's from lampoon's vacation! LOL!

anyways, this thread is great, and i've added a bunch more stuff to my packing list!
thanks!

Lots of great tips!

Instead of the regular power strip, I'm bringing one of the newer style "power squids" where the plugs are on short cords branching out from the center. (Has "legs" like an octopus or squid.) Chargers often take up 2 plugs on a regular power strip because they are so big so this should work better.

over the door shoe sholder to keep all asst "stuff" that seems to collect .. also good place to keep toiletries if more than 2 are in room!

Wow!!! This is a great idea. I'm just imagining all the stuff I could organize in there. Thanks

Wow, great thread, just read all 12 pages!!

Question--what do you all put in the over the door shoe holders?

All I can add is a few favorites:
-Dollar store glow sticks. We found glow Mickey ears last year, and they were soooo cute. We had tons of people and CMs coming up to us asking us where we got them!! So we bought extras this year to share with others.

-Pop up laundry hamper

-Sticky Labels already adressed to put on postcards to send to Grama!

-Dollar store blow up beach balls. Kids had a blast with them at the pool. On our last day we leave them for other kids.

-Chafing powder/cream!!

-Crocs

-Waterproof disposable camera for the waterparks. Didn't take one last year, and we have no pics of the waterparks! So bought 2 for this year!

-Lots of gum, ziploc bags, memory cards, and batteries

Another idea ---

Take a regular paper towel cut in 1/2 or 1/4. Drop a drop or two of liquid soap on it, fold it up and put it into a plastic zip top bag. Works like a charm for pennies!!!

Ok, so promise me you won't decide I'm a nutcase....:goodvibes

I couldn't find them either. We don't have little ones anymore, but I saw Johnson's Head to Toe Washcloths (disposable) on the shelf at my local Rite Aid.
So....I bought a pack. I cut them into 1/4ths, and they are just right for washing out a couple of coffee cups or refillable mugs. I rinsed well, of course.

...I am familiar with the product. I think liquid Johnson's Head to Toe is one of the very best mild face cleansers. It's cheap, and it's so mild on the skin. It comes in travel sizes, so I never leave home without it.

My solution may be a little unusual, but I don't like dirty mugs or cups. (We're bringing our own coffee, so I will want to wash them between room services.)

Anything!!!

Shampoo, Conditioner, Sunscreen, disposible cameras, flip flops, first aid kit, sunglasses, extra ponchos, mouthwash, toothpaste, insect repellent, hair spray, laundry items (soap, fabric softner), etc etc etc.

It kept our bathroom from getting messy!!!
