I wish I had packed (insert here) for my resort room.....

a bathing suit for the pool, its kinda hard to swim in jean shorts.

An idea is to put these bathing suits in your carry-on bag if you are flying or pack where they can easily get gotton out if your suitecase if you are driving. That way if you get to the resort early and find that your room maynot be ready for a while, you can head to the resort pool and do some swimming or just take in some sun.

We went in January with our 4-year-old DS, and here are the things I was glad I had packed:
--A milk crate from our local grocery store so that our DS could reach the sink to wash hands and brush teeth.
--Pump soap (especially helpful for our DS!)
--Pop up laundry hamper from Dollar Tree
--Hanging organizer from Dollar Tree (A previous poster mentioned that the doors at AKL are too thick, and that's true...we had to hang ours on the towel bar right by the sink.)
--Empty containers from the toiletry section in Wal-Mart and filled with shampoo, bath gel, etc. For $1.00 each, we felt okay pitching them at the end of the trip, which left us room for more souvenirs. (And as we all know, every inch of space counts!!) An empty pump container can be filled with Febreeze.
--Johnson's Head-to-Toe washcloths for DS. That way we didn't have to worry about a liquid, and we could easily pack just enough for our one trip.
--A Mini M&M container/tube for all the loose change we accumulate...we use it for our "seed fund" for our next Disney trip (Can also be used to store quarters and pennies for pressed penny machines)
--Clothes pins to keep curtains closed

we never travel without our noise-maker. it is the trick for getting toddlers to go to sleep in a strange place.
I never go anywhere without mine, and I'm a granny!!!
Bottled water is our must. Florida water is not the best, as most of you know...

What kind of noisemaker? That would come in handy!

The company I'm familiar with is Homedics. They make one or two choices, usually with 6 different sounds to choose from. Rain, white noise, wind, etc. Cost about $20 at Linens and Things or Bed, Bath and Beyond.

Jeannie,

you said: "I also wish that I had gotten a cheap toothbrush holder, or figured something out. We normally use electric, but we travel with regular toothbrushes."

Have you considered using the glasses that are provided in the room? Assuming you're comfy with with the cleanliness (I usually don't have any issue with it at disney) just pop your toothbrushes brush side down into the glass. You don't have to pack anything, and usually mousekeeping will bring you an extra glass when they clean the room the first time, so you still have the appropriate amount. It's always worked well for me...

I love the idea of packing your swimsuit!!! We have done this for the Disney cruise, but hadn't done it for the resort. *insert hitting myself in the head smilie*
Question: Do the resorts have lockers? I ask because I am traveling alone with DGS8. In order to join him in the pool before our room is ready, I will need to store the valuables that I took on the plane some place safe. I know I can store luggage with the resort, but I do not want to store my cash, cc cards, park tix, passport, etc just anywhere and will not leave it on a chair near the pool. Thanks, tink :)

Just back a few days ago...

I wish we had packed a screwdriver...the kids had a few toys that we had to go to the front desk to borrow a screwdriver to open the battery compartment.

The over-the-door-hanger was AWESOME and I will always travel with one from now on... :thumbsup2 :thumbsup2

EXCELLENT IDEA! This is now on my list, too. My kids like to take their Game Boys and their Leapsters (educational toys) when travelling and they always need new batteries put in . . . Reminder to those who are flying -- screwdrivers need to be packed in your "checked" luggage, not your carry-ons.

At the check-in desk tell them you need to store some things in a safe deposit box. I know the deluxe resorts have them and assume that the mods and values probably do, too. I was able to leave our jewelry, cash, etc. for a few hours until our room was ready. A CM took me back to where the boxes were, let me put the items in the box, and I kept the key until I was ready to collect the items later. There was some minimal paperwork involved, but it was generally painless.

I have tried to find these, but cant find them ANYWHERE!!!! ANYONE got any suggestions?! I think they are a great idea and would really come in handy.

HELP!

Ok, so promise me you won't decide I'm a nutcase....:goodvibes

I couldn't find them either. We don't have little ones anymore, but I saw Johnson's Head to Toe Washcloths (disposable) on the shelf at my local Rite Aid.
So....I bought a pack. I cut them into 1/4ths, and they are just right for washing out a couple of coffee cups or refillable mugs. I rinsed well, of course.

...I am familiar with the product. I think liquid Johnson's Head to Toe is one of the very best mild face cleansers. It's cheap, and it's so mild on the skin. It comes in travel sizes, so I never leave home without it.

My solution may be a little unusual, but I don't like dirty mugs or cups. (We're bringing our own coffee, so I will want to wash them between room services.)

Was in the mood for a Corona one nite - got it back to the room - and had no bottle opener! I always bring one with me now (although you can get one at the resort gift shop).

The only place I have been able to find them is at Zellers (HBC) here in Canada. I'm sorry-that's probably no help to you is it.

We also have had trouble finding the dish clothes but I got lucky a while ago and found them at the dollar store so I bought all of them! I am stocked for a while now.
A couple of things we keep in the suitcases for our trips are microwave popcorn and those flat out bowls (ours are Tupperware but I think rubbermaid makes them now too) They fold flat and push out to any size bowl you need. We always stay until the parks close and occasionally find the food courts shut down when we get back but the kids want popcorn so we microwave it at the food court and if there are left overs we have a bowl. The bowls are also great for leftovers or cereal in the room!

They will also be happy to open beer or wine bottles for you at the resort bar/lounge. :thumbsup2

It was either Doller Tree or Deals I don't remember which.
The bowls look like this:

or
http://tupperware.resultspage.com/search?w=flat+out

I got mine years ago from tupperware but I have seen the rubbermaid ones at walmart and target.

I also forgot to add that we bring a bag of clothes pins and jumbo binder clips. These are great for closing bags of chips or holding the curtains closed.
