There is a superfun thread on the Disneyland section, and I thought it would be a fun one to copycat for Disney World! Thanks OP for the fun idea!

So, what do you think looks fun, but gets skipped or rushed in favor of more popular rides or riding favorites multiple times. Another way of looking at it, if a ride/show/attraction existed in your hometown, without other Disney attractions to pull rank, what would make you say, "hey! That looks cool!"

Here's mine:

Tom Sawyer Island-haven't been since I was a kid. I remember thinking "this is cool and all but it's cutting into my Space Mountain time". As an adult it scares me how open-ended it is. I want things to have a more clear cut objective or timeline. Hard to break out of uber-planner mode. But thinking maybe that's exactly why we should do it for our Feb trip? Maybe we will try to hit this before any repeat rides. Kind of the same thing with the Swiss Family Treehouse

All the trails in AK-just can't get into it, but it know if there wasn't a second ride at EE calling my name and if I hit it early in the trip when my energy levels were higher, I might be interested

I agree with the trails in Animal Kingdom. I love walking through those and just watching the animals. Usually my issue is my husband doesn't enjoy it as much so we'll just rush through or skip them. But I could probably spend hours just watching the animals doing their thing!

** THIS! *** ;)

Maybe we can go the same time and we can hang out with the animals while our DHs ride EE and Kali
lol

The Countries of World Showcase. My kids are grown now so they are more patient letting me walk through but still don't want to stay too long in one place. Except for Japan. There I have to find a seat to wait for them:goodvibes

I agree with this. Our family members have varying degrees of interest in this so how much we do it depends heavily on who's along.

One year, my oldest daughter (the biggest animal lover in our group) and I did the Backstage Safari Tour and it was one of our best ever experiences at WDW. Maybe someday we'll get to try the Wild Africa Trek, but I'm not sure my old knees would hold up for that.

Agreed! It seems like it's just a series of photo ops with props and architecture for us. I wish I had time to chat more with the CM's from all the different countries and that I were braver to try to learn and try out some new language phrases.

Out of curiosity, what's in Japan that appeals to your kids so much?

Even though we lived just north of Disney for over 5 years, I always wished we could have done more of the tours. We did all the other things that have been mentioned and did them regularly. We could go any time and stay or leave and didn't feel bad about making a half day trip.
However, the tours had to be scheduled and reserved in advance. Always seemed we COULD do it any time and we didn't do what we should have.
If I had it to do over again, I schedule each and every tour (that didn't cost a mint) and enjoy them all.
;)

The best tour we've ever done .. Marcelline to MK ... hands down the BEST time we had over the 2 week holiday! We got into MK at 8 a.m. long before anyone else (except for the Brazilian equivalent to Good Morning America :rotfl2: ) Our tour guide was a wealth of information about everything from Walt's early life to how the previous CM's who had helped create the Disney empire. But getting to walk UNDER and beside the ballroom in the Haunted Mansion was worth every penny we paid! And i want to venture that it was only around $45.00

Great post! We have a 14 day trip planned for next year so we can do all of the little things we usually skip. DD & DS love animals so we plan to really explore animal kingdom with trails, etc.

Trails at AK! Last time we did 2 days at AK and only a half day at MK. My sister had to go back to the room not feeling well and I wasn't in the mood to spend a full day avoiding getting run over by a stroller. Fantasyland was totally unavailable that trip as the walkways were overflowing with strollers :(

This is a high priority for my wife and I when we go in February. Our first trip, we didn't do much exploring of the countries, but this time (especially now that we have a nice camera and have taken some photography classes) we're really looking forward to it!

if i had more time id spend more time with characters, but sadly most in my group don't get the appeal other than mickey. so

id love to do the disney family magic tour! just recently found out about it, it seems fun
id enjoy trying other tours but for now that one is #1 on my list keys to the kingdom ranking #2 lol

Resort hopping. We are going in December, and I would love to see all the decorations (Particularly at CR and GF) but our touring plan of the parks makes this an impossibility.

It would have to be the trails at AK, and World Showcase at Epcot. This coming trip in January, we have a full couple of hours to do WS this time around (didn't even go in there last trip!!) and AK we have one day there planned but it wasn't quite a full day so unless I extend our hours there, the trails might have to wait another few years. lol

The rush of Disney is a big part of the rush for me, so take all of what I'm about to say with a grain of salt. I've been to WDW enough times that I probably could have done everything I wanted by now.

What often annoys me is when family gets sucked in to doing something like watching tv in the room! ARGH! pirate:

That said, if it weren't for all the other fun options, I'd like to do the animation class a few times in a row.

I also have a fantasy where I see CM's actually enforcing rules, like telling dark-ride-flash photo takers that their actions are rude, and they will now be escorting them back to the parking lot for a time out. Ditto for line cutters, large groups who stop to block narrow pathways, and other folks who commit very selfish acts.

Then, I have another fantasy where I pick up the dinner tab of another family. Maybe one with a beat up old stroller, wearing beat up old sneakers, while eating a picnic lunch.

There's a few other places I'd spend more time if they weren't in the middle of a theme park, like Innovations or the water fountain with the flying rain drops (Imagination). The Piggy Bank game looks fun, but not as fun as Test Track!

It will be my DGS's first trip my son is a single Dad so we are grateful his Mom is letting him come for a few days being that it's her weekend. So my wish would be that we would have more time with him there.

He is only 2.5 and going to be there 3 full days so it's going to be really important not to try and cram too much in and just enjoy watching him have fun. I think my other son with special needs is the most excited to have him there I can't wait to see both their faces as we walk into MVMCP:santa:

the last time i was there we really rushed around trying to see everything, especially the first night we got there when we were at the christmas party. this year i know we're not going to see everything, but we're going to at least take the time to meet characters and see parades and relax a little bit instead and just really take in disney for all the magic it has.

I'd love to spend more time exploring the resorts and just meandering. I think it's mentally hard for me to do that when I'm paying for days in the park. One of these days I'll get over it though =)

I would love to spend a week at WDW just focusing on all the street performers. Every park has so many little street shows - the Dapper Dans, Citizens of Hollywood, Chinese acrobats...the list goes on and on. I usually glance over and think "oh, that looks cool." But I never stop to watch because I'm always in a rush to get to the next ride.
