I wish DVC rooms had a Keurig instead of a coffeemaker

I'm a huge coffee drinker but I agree with you...I definitely don't want my dues paying for K-cups.

Here here! I agree. There is no reason to scrap the whole bunch of coffee makers we already have in all the villas just to make things a little easier for a few. As I said before, it still tastes like "plastic" coffee to me. I still want my grind it and brew it now coffee. I can store a grinder in my OL in a lot less space too!

The only way I could really see this happening is if the brewers were available as an option (either noted on the reservation or by calling housekeeping). This would reduce greatly the number of brewers and k-cups that would need to be purchased.

I'd be thrilled if they offered X number of Keurig per DVC resort and then offered individual K-Cups in the store for a small (very small as in $0.25 or $0.50) per K-Cup. WDW could probably get the machines and the K-cups at an incredibly reduced rate so even if they sold the K-Cups at $0.50 they'd be making money. I know that when I order mine through the Keurig site they end up costing me around $0.41/each.

And while some don't want their dues going to pay for this perk since they wouldn't use them the same argument could be made for not having dues go towards paying for things like "Welcome Home Wednesday" or going to offsetting the cost difference between a DVC AP and a regular AP since I'm sure not all DVC members use those perks. Of course any argument for or against the Keurig is basically moot since it'll never happen.

As for the Keurig, this is not something I want my dues paying for. Those machines are not cheap and the cups are ridiculously priced.

Yeah, they are buying $20 Mr. Coffee coffee makers that they probably get in bulk for $10. If they disappear, its not a huge deal. If the carafe breaks, it isn't a huge deal.

While administration would be a pain in the butt, a rental system for Keurigs, or a checkout system (free if you buy the coffee from Disney) might work - with your account charged if the unit doesn't return. But too much stuff leaves hotel/timeshare rooms to have expensive coffee makers as standard equipment. Most of the valuable stuff in a DVC room is pretty much nailed down.

Seems pretty easy to ask for a second mini Mr. Coffee for the decaf or bring a French Press if you have a party with varying coffee needs.

Technically yes but DVC is far too lax in this area for damages and losses compared to most timeshares.

I am a recent Keurig convert. DH bought me one for Christmas and after our trip for Easter to WDW I was in sooooo much need of good coffee I couldnt stand it!!!!

I was just thinking that if WDW kept the cost of the K-cups very cheap that they'd get Keurig users (i.e. current users) from bringing their own K-cups and they could still make some money off of them. If one K-cup is going to cost me over $3 I'd be packing my own but if they cost $1 I'd be willing to just pay for it as opposed to throwing some of my own in my suitcase. And while the Welcome Home Wednesday might be a sales opportunity they have to pay for the event to happen and the swag that goes along with it somehow. I'm assuming that the money comes from dues or even possibly maintenance fees. Of course we all know what the saying is about assuming.....

Are the i-homes the alarm clocks with the i-Pod docking stations? They had them in the last few resorts that we've stayed at. Wouldn't it be a little hard to shove any of that stuff into a suitcase?

You'd think. But when they first made an appearance some people reported that theirs was missing from their room on check-in. It was also said (via Mousekeeping) that they kept disappearing. Hopefully the novelty wore off....

Disney would not be looking to make a few cents on each cup...they would for sure sell them at least more into the 1.50-2.00 range. They are not concerned if you bring your own, there will be tons of people that don't....hence the people they will make their money on.

I don't see it happening, mainly because a coffee maker is pretty generic...while the Keurig is a specialty item. But, if they saw a profit angle, they may just go for it and say that it was in response to member feedback!

I really don't think they are going to walk out if added. I'm all for ading them and charge what you want for extra -cups, I'll either buy cause i dont care about the price becasue i'm on vacation and like the conveinence, or I'll bring my own.

Sure, but those deals don't last past an introductory marketing stage, and then Disney would get a bulk purchase price, but not one that makes them equal to the cheap Mr. Coffees.

OKW when it opened had colored towels and (IIRC) silk flower arrangements. Gone, as they disappeared. I think a LOT of things disappear from Disney hotel rooms.

I have a radio/docking one i picked up for less than $100 @ BestBuy & drag it along every vacation including cruises, not heavy & it's long & flat not taking up much room

jmho, unless DVC would get a heckuva deal on them, don't want to foot the bill via dues charge
