I wish DVC rooms had a Keurig instead of a coffeemaker

Side Note to all: ALWAYS check the cleanliness of the water bin!!! I've hit two now that were growing mold. :headache: Both times Housekeeping brought a new one to me, (although one was a tiny machine.)[/QUOTE]

Great tip!! Thanks

Leaving for WDW in a few days. I wish the DVC rooms had a Keurig instead of a regular coffeemaker. We are flying so bringing mine from home is not really an option. DH drinks only decaf but I need caffeine!

First thing I do at check in is call house keeping and have an extra coffee pot sent to our room for the entire stay, I get my caffeine and DH decaff! When we stayed at the FT. they had a full size and mini coffee pot which was really perfect for us. I need several cups to get going in the morning so Keurig does not really work for me not very cost effective either.

We store a Mini Keurig in our Owners Locker and bring fresh ground coffee for home to use in the re-usable filter. Love it!

NO, NO, NO!!! I don't want "plastic" coffee. I always grind my own at home, and if they had Keurig in the rooms, I'd definitely have to buy a coffee maker to put in my owner's locker. Besides that, for those who drink tea, the ability to heat water is a plus. I really hated it when they did away with the tea kettles at OKW.

Actually as the owner of a Keurig I can tell you the newer models allow the use of your own coffee. So like you I always grind when I use my Keurig. I do agree that most of the coffee that you can get in k-cup form isn't as good as freshly ground coffee and some is just plain nasty like "plastic coffee". Plus it's way too expensive. But I can verify that using your own freshly ground coffee in a Keurig is very good. I use the expresso grind and tamp it down just like your favorite barrista. However, I'm not sure if using your own coffee is an option with all the keurigs like the mini.

edit: Just noticed the hot water/tea comment - you can get hot water for tea, hot cocoa, instant oatmeal etc, from my Keurig.

While we are wishing, since I dislike coffee, I will take a water system in the frigerator door :thumbsup2

No offense to coffee drinkers but making hot water in a coffee pot for tea is GROSS. I can't stand coffee and I've sent back my tea if it was made from a coffee pot carafe, etc at restaurants... I loved London hotels as all they had was tea. We need an electric kettle in the room. And, before you say you can use a microwave I'm not a fan of microwaved water as it tastes different and cools down really fast.

I with you!:thumbsup2

I was just saying that DH on our last trip. It would be so easy to pack a few Keurig pods rather than having to bring down those awful prepackaged coffee filters.

I wish Keurig would make a more portable version of the mini...with a built in handle on top. Anyone out there in K-land listening????

It's not a built in handle, but take a look at this...

Maybe the next best thing...

We love our Keurig machines. Currently have two... One in the motorhome and one for the house. Have thought about picking one the mini machines for our DVC travels.

SAME HERE! We took our full-size machine to Hilton Head this winter and it was great. We sat in the rocking chairs on the balcony and enjoyed all of our Keurig favorites (cider, coffees, hot cocoa, etc.) under a blanket. It would only be nicer if we hadn't had to lug the machine around.

Thought we were the only crazies. Actually bought a Keurig down there and my wife uses in her office. We have one at home too and can't live without. I am the decafer and she is the hightest.

If you are looking for best price on k-cups, office depot online, there are always coupons available and they provide free next business day shipping and no tax. They also have 24 packs, so i can end up getting my k-cups for around $0.42 per.

Add me to the list of people that wish they'd put Keurigs in the DVC villas!!! That way we could pack our own K-cups or they could provide the K-cups where you get refills and hot chocolate packets. I'm thinking specifically of Kidani because you have to ask for the hot cocoa packets from the little store CM.

That is what owner's lockers are for. .

I was going to say the same thing..

And while I am not a "germ phobe" by any means (I use the bedspread, I don't wipe down the room at all) I have sworn off hotel coffee pots!!!! Cleaning is "minimal" at best! :)

This bag only works for the original Mini (B30). It's not for the Mini Plus (B31) which is the Mini that's currently being sold.

As someone who is neither a coffee nor tea drinker, I am always amazed at how passionate (read: crazy) they all are about it.......:)

As for the Keurig, this is not something I want my dues paying for. Those machines are not cheap and the cups are ridiculously priced.

I love my Kuerig, but we request a second coffee maker in our villa and it's never an issue. A tea kettle would have been nice though too!

My Keurig mini (with its cute little travel bag) just joined us on our vacation to DVC. I only drink water, coffee and tea. I can't imagine going a little over a week, and only drinking the swill that passes as coffee and iced tea at WDW... JMHO YMMV.

I'm a huge coffee drinker but I agree with you...I definitely don't want my dues paying for K-cups.
