I wish Disney would get rid of all FastPass

Just make it like every other themepark and charge an extra $100/person to skip the lines.

Then these boards wouldn't be full of people sulking.

Quite frankly, I wish for the same thing. I'd pay their $100 per day, per person, for an unlimited FOTL pass in a heart beat.

Annual passholders wouldn't appreciate them charging for Fast Pass.

And $100 a person is a little steep don't ya think?

That's a shame. A potentially interesting idea completely destroyed by insulting people.

FWIW I would be in favor of getting rid of FP in all its incarnations. That was a truly level playing field.

Cedar Point charged $80 last year for an Unlimited Quick Pass

Universal charges different amounts based on expected attendance. It's cheap in September when you don't need it and over $100 on the holidays.

So I could see if you wanted New Year Eve at MK or Epcot it would cost $200+ in September it would be $50.

Six Flags Great America is 65 a person. There is something called the Flash Pass that you can buy that gives you fast passes for certain rides. Its a tiered program, so the more you pay the better your fast pass options are.

IDK- I didn't mind FP+ when we were there. But I also don't mind standing in line for 45-60 minutes, as long as its 1 or 2 rides. So having to pick 3 rides and then stand in line for the others isn't a big deal for me.

But whatevs. No matter what you do, you are not going to make everyone happy.

I don't think Disney is done making changes. the FP system we see now, is different then it was when it debuted last fall and chances are it will be different this coming fall. Its an evolving system and it is going to take some time to get all the kinks out of it.

I won't be going back for a few years- we have another baby coming- so vacations are on hold for a bit. So, who knows what it will be like when we go back in a few years.

Or people complaining about people sulking. You might have something there. :scratchin

I think there's less of them sulking,I for one still feel the FP+ system still has issues, but it's not that bad.I mean I spent months on here before getting a magicband reading people's issues with it,many of them probably hadn't even used the new system, but after using it a few times I think it's not that bad.I mean I rarely if ever get to the parks at opening so getting FP's for rides like Soarin and TSMM was always an issue, now I have my FP's and know what time they're for before leaving my house.I don't like the tiering,or only getting one park a day and I don't like having to make picks for rides that don't need them, but honestly I'm kinda warning up to the new system.I've probably put up some negative posts on FP+ but I'm realizing nothing is perfect and this system can be tweeked and improved(hopefully). Also I'm an AP holder and I'm not paying $100,or even $20 for a front of the line pass.I remember visiting Cedar Point about 10 years ago and they had a simple free system for a front of the line pass, they stamped both your hands with a ride and return time,so two rides a day,you obviously pick two rides that have the longest wait times.I picked Millenium Force and Magnum XL 200 since Top Thrill Dragster was broken.I think the current system works kinda like that one, although it probably costs like $50,999,890 less than the Disney system, you avoid a wait for a couple E-Ticket rides and the best part is that it's free. The difference between these amusement parks charging for a front of the line and Disney is that these parks are charging $50 to get in while Disney doubles that.Charging $100 a ticket and expecting everyone to pony up some more for a FP will put off a lot of people.Universal across town has a paid express pass but they also have more options as well as more rides to spread out the wait times, you can stay at an expensive Universal hotel and get FOTL as well as Universal has single rider lines in a bunch of rides to at least give people an opportunity to ride if the standby is long.Disney in my opinion doesn't have enough major rides in their parks for me to feel it would be worthwhile to shell out more on top of the high ticket price.

To be honest, I think if they pulled all of it, there'd be just as many complaints. They'd just be different complaints.

But, but, but what about those people who deserve to be able to sleep in, go for breakfast, have some pool time and walk into DHS at 2 PM with a TSMM FP in hand. How selfish of you!

Anyone who doesn't think that is where Disney is headed is seriously mistaken. This is just the first phase of getting the technology in place. With the old fast pass system it wasn't as easy to differentiate guests. But once the kinks are worked out, they can easily place limits on the fast pass system. For instance everyone gets 3 but for an upcharge you get 6. Or deluxe resort guests get more than value resort guests. Or for X amount, you get unlimited fast passes during the day. The technology is coming and I highly doubt they spent this type of money to not get a financial return out of it.

Do I think that some form of FREE FP for everyone will go away? No. But I do think that there will definitely be add ons available for purchase at some point in the not too distant future.

I was not a HUGE legacy FP user but used it none the less. We go back to DW this November or December and I have no issues with the new FP+. It isn't as nice as getting multiple FP every hour or so if wanted, but I also don't need to rush to kiosks to obtain them. If DW decided to do away with free FP and only charge for it, I think they would get a lot of backlash. They charge WAY too much and are slowly pricing people out of a vacation. The FP is a nice perk when I am spending $1600 for just tickets for the week (4 people). Personally, I would never pay out of pocket for a FP. My local amusement park does this but it only cost $50 to get in or $100 for a SP. So the math is completely different. Plus, people don't mind the extra cost because they are typically only going to that smaller park for a day.

We added Universal on our last trip. We took advantage of their express line pass. It got you to the front of the line 1 time for all rides except Harry Potter. It was
$50 per person and worth EVERY penny. We were able to do both parks in one day!

Now on the surface we would think that offering a charge for more FP+ makes perfect sense. In some way it does, but it won't be a huge revenue generator for Disney. The reason is people will just choose to not do an expensive character breakfast, stay at a value instead of a moderate, or spend less in the gift shops to free up money to get the FP+++. Most people will just shift their spending habits.

It looks like Disney is playing a small amount of defense with competition from other parks/attractions in the area. They are all making it easier for you to get away from Disney with transportation/ticket packages, front of the line passes, or unique themes.

Disney is working to make it harder for you to leave property. The last thing they want is a system that allows you to do everything you want and have enough time to spend money somewhere else. So that is where the defense strategy comes into play.

OP is your idea $100 per person per day or per ticket? $100 per ticket is way too reasonable, too many people would buy it and none of the issues that are present right now would be fixed. They need the price to be extremely high so it's out of reach for most families.

I mean, if you add water parks & more and park hopping isn't the cost around the same per ticket? I bet tons of people would give up those options in favour of a line skipping pass. We would. We would probably pay on top of that, actually.

FastPass with no extra charge is (in my opinion) what separates Disney from the rest of the pack (Universal, etc.).

I HATE that locals with AP's at Universal can't even buy the "Skip All Lines, All Day, Unlimited Rides" ExpressPass that on-site guests get. We don't even have the option at all.

Charging for FP would just lower them down to that level in my opinion.
