I wish Disney had 'just looking' park tickets.

There are so many things to do at Disney that don't involve rough rides that I can't see the need for that kind of ticket. Shows, parades, fireworks, gentle rides (HM, Spaceship Earth, the list could go on and on) are all available for everyone's enjoyment.

I would like "Just Eating" tickets. :woohoo:

That's exactly what DH and I use our "After 4 FL Resident Passes" for. We arrive at EPCOT just before time for dinner (easy reserving seating for 2 only the week before) then watch the fireworks. We stroll the WS and usually take a boat ride. Just dinner with some "ambiance". :goodvibes

I might be wrong, but it seemed like way back when my grandparents took me as a child (around 20 yrs ago) there was the option to come inside and shop for 2hrs for free.

Do I remember that right?

Yes, you do. Disneyland and Knott's Berry Farm had similar situations when I worked for them. Knott's was for two hours, if I recall correctly. If you didn't return, we charged your credit card (that we scanned before letting you in).

When I worked at Disneyland, you could go to the front News Stand (the one that is half inside and half outside of the park) and let them know what you wanted and they would get it for you. I was told they had a shopping pass before my time there.

I have no way of knowing if either place still does this.

No offense, but sometimes people here latch onto one thing and they don't read the rest.

The OP would LIKE to go, but they need to save their vacation time (and I'll assume vacation funds) for presumably when the baby is born. If there were such things as reduced tickets without the rides, MAYBE they could consider it but we all know that doesn't exist.

OP, I hear you. Sometimes I wish I could just up and go to WDW, too.

He later clarified, but it doesn't change the intent of the thread which was to vent that he'd like cheaper tickets since his wife (per his first post) couldn't ride anything.

If it was the vacation time and money that was the prime issue, it would have been more present in his original post. He is free to post as he wishes...but don't blame the respondents for what we latch onto when the lack of vacation time was omitted in his OP.

I have people asking if there is a Senior Discount at Typhoon Lagoon as they don't intend to go in the water. I will politely ask their age, and for some I will honestly tell them they are younger than me.

However, my response is that once they are in the park there is no way for us to monitor their actions. And they can use the lazy river or the shallower parts of the wave pool, or play with the grandchildren in the kiddie areas.

Also, we have done away with the Shopping Pass at the water parks. However, if a person wants to go in for just merchandise (or the mini-donuts) we will sell them a one-day water park ticket and as long as they return within 30 minutes of park entry (and are dry) we will refund their money.

I know it would be a nightmare to police, but Disney would make so much more money off me if I could get a "just shopping" pass. My husband would like the "just eating" pass. Sometimes on a trip, we want to go to a park just for an evening to eat or shop, but we don't want to buy a whole day pass just to shop or eat.

ahhhh....at Disneyland, when I was a child (we're talking about the '60's!) you had ticket booklets and you could alternately buy general admission. Hence, the name "E-ticket ride" or "E-coupon ride". This method was good for the people who just wanted to go into the Park and not ride any rides.

Agreed. I honestly thought the same thing yesterday after the initial replies, which is why I further clarified in my 2nd post. By then it was too late, lol. ;)

OP, I hear you. Sometimes I wish I could just up and go to WDW, too.

This is what the post was really about.

It was a rant in general… and not really a rant so much as a “I wish I didn’t have the reasons stacked against me not to go right now” ie: money, vacation time, not getting money's worth because wife is pregnant and is already paranoid and there is no way she'd ride a single ride. ;)

As stated in my 2nd post, I'm aware she can still enjoy some rides. That wasn't the whole premise. The idea was simply that I wish we could just go to disney and enjoy the parks without paying admission. I don't honestly expect disney to offer free admission, heavens no. It was just a pie in the sky thread. That's it.

This was supposed to be a light hearted thread. It was taken way too seriously and I tried to clarify that in the 2nd post. I'm kinda burned out. I didn't bother to reply because I noticed the trend and didn't think anyone saw the reason I made the post until the above poster made a reply. Now, let's have some fun and stop being so serious. :)

NOT in the OP. That is what many replied to. If the was the real reason then why the vent in the first place?:confused3

Yes he did say it in the original post. I bolded it in my reply. "No, no, no, we need to save money."

He added the vacation time reason in his second post.

OP I understood that it was obviously a vent/joke. Do what is best for your family!

I took it as a rhetorical commeent by the OP and not a real reason.

I'm so jealous of you! I wish we lived close enough to be able to do that. Sometimes, when my family is deciding where we want to go out to eat, my DD12 will pipe up with, "Le Cellier! Tangerine Cafe! San Angel! Biergarten!". That gets us all wishing and talking about how great it would be to live so close we could just pop over to Epcot for dinner.

OP, I understand exactly how you feel, because our family loves Disney and misses it so much when we're not there. I especially start to feel that way when the weather turns nice, and I'll step outside and it will just feel like a "Disney Day". Fortunately, we have a trip planned for the end of May, so I don't have long to wait!

I know 3 women who all miscarried while on vacation, one in a rest stop bathroom :sad2: While it's true that it probably would have happened anyway those words were of zero comfort to the women I know who had to live through it. Because of these stories my trip when I was 3 months pregnant with DD when DS was 9 months old was not all that much fun for me.

OP, if you or your wife is uncomfortable with the idea I will back you up and agree that going is not a good idea. Instead, throw some effort into planning your first trip with your new baby. Set a date in the future and plan it all out, the rides, the shows... all of it. I was much happier when we went as a new family than pregnant so I can see your wife's side of it.

Oh, fiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiine. Rub it in my face, why don't you. ;)

I'm so sorry!!!!
I guess it would make it worse to tell you that we are AP holders and this will be our third trip in the past year??? (We have to get one more in before they expire!!!:rolleyes1)
