I will never "get" this!

Sure, if I can ever find out about ticket sales at the venue I want....

Sue, I'm at your driveway and you are not answering.

Oh and I don't go to concerts to sit and relax ;)

I thought that's what you do at rock/pop concerts. I've not seen anyone sitting. I suppose they have to stand if everyone else is, but it never even occurred to me that someone would want to be sitting at a concert, other than for a short breather. I love Huey Lewis, but I wouldn't sit during it!

I always stand and dance around. One of the bon jovi concerts I went to jon actually said "for those few fans still sitting get off your *** and stand up this is a concert" seems like the band wants fans to stand up and have a good time! I didn't think there was anyone not standing though maybe a few people.

I will never get just sitting at concerts, no one has ever told me to seat down I have even stood up in the second level. Its a concert I'm there to stand up and dance around!

The only time I sit at concerts is if it is a slow song or I am too far back to see anyway. There's nothing worse than a killjoy at a concert when everyone is up dancing and they yell at everyone to sit down. Just get up and join in on the fun.

Although, if everyone is sitting around me, I won't get up. But as someone said above, the artists do enjoy a show much more if everyone gets up and boogies. I have been to concerts where sections are sitting down and they yell at them to stand up and dance. The dancing from the crowd gives them energy, that energy gives them a better show.

I can stand & dance with the best of them, but a few months ago at a Bon Jovi concert we were all standing & dancing but there were songs that were slower & everyone sat down except for the 2 girls in front of us. I kept my head stretched over the to the left so I could see but I was crowding my cousin who was sitting beside me. My 10 y/o son didn't have hopes of seeing at all. So I waited for a while but they were not sitting. So I tapped the girl right in front of me & told her that everyone is sitting now & WE CAN'T SEE THROUGH YOU.

Luckily she didn't slug me. She apologized & she & her friend both sat down. I was very happy (& relieved I didn't leave with a bloody nose!) :rotfl2:

I agree though, I think it's rude to stand for the entire concert. A few songs okay but why the entire concert?

(Hi there Mootoo! Long time no see! How you been? It's me ~ ME-SHAY-TA!!)

personally I dont mind the dancing but what really gets to me is to go to a broadway show like les mis and have the people next to you sing the songs off key. :furious: I didnt pay to here them sing I paid for the good singers on stage. As far as dancing some of the concerts I have been to have a section for dancing and one for non, but then it depends on the music.

There are some of us who really like to go to concerts but are not physically able to stand the entire time. Since everyone stands there is really no point in my even going. IMHO, if you want to dance, go to a dance club. When there are seats at a concert, they are meant to be sat in so that the view of others around you isn't blocked. I've been to concert events that have an area with seating and areas with no seats where people can stand, dance or do whatever. Even so, the people in the seated area (for which they paid extra, by the way) still feel the need to stand.

This is just my opinion. No offense to those of you who feel different (unless of course you are standing in front of my seat!) :goodvibes

Last few concerts I went to most people sat for 90 percent of the time. Two girls did get up and attempt to dance but they were yelled at so much they finally sat down! I am not paying for a seat I cant sit in! Last concert I took my daughter to and people stood in front of me I was forced to hike her up on my shoulders so she could see...which meant the people behind me coudn't see! But I was not going to let her just stand there and look at the butt of the person in front of her!

I thought you only had a seat to rest in during the downtime between acts and encores. ;)
Definitely a stander here!

I've been to a ton of concerts and have only ever sat through the entire things once and that was Elton John. We always get floor seats so we can see better. We won't stand up unless the people in front of us do, and even then, if we can hold out and stay sitting, we do. I don't mind standing for the faster songs, but when a slow song comes on, I sit down, have a drink and enjoy the relaxing time. However, worse than people standing in front of you is the young couples (ok, I'm 19, but still) who INSIST that this concert is the perfect place to stand in front of you and make out all night. ALL NIGHT. My cousin and I went to a Keith Urban concert a few months back and there was a couple, maybe mid-20's in front of us. They were all over each other the entire night. Never sat down. Even through the slow songs, like "Tonight I Wanna Cry," they were standing, waving their arms around like they were on fire, and then would dive for each other. It was really bad. We called security over because they were actually pushing their chairs back into ours (we were on the floor) and were taking our room. Security told them they had to stop or would be kicked out. As soon as security turned around, he lifted the girl on his shoulders- 12 rows from the stage at an indoor concert with ticketed seating- not good. Security gave them one more chance and they got better about 20 minutes before the end of the show but were still all over each other.
I'd rather take a nice person standing in front of me over those two anyday.

Last 2 concerts I went to were TOTALLY different. U2, everyone was standing, and I didn't have a choice, I was 4 people from the Elipse and it was SRO.

The LAST concert I saw was Billy Joel, and everyone was sitting in their seats, but many were SCREAMING very loudly, including the 14 yr olds behind me. And the two fellows beside my bf hadn't ever heard of Personal Space. *chuckles* I thinke they were just hitting on him. :)

Both were great concerts, just VERY different experiences. It think it depends on the venue as to how people are going to act.

We went to a concert last night. Opening act was Huey Lewis and the News; second act was Chicago. So there were these two women sitting next to me who kept screaming and jumping up to "dance". A few rows ahead of us were another pair of women who kept getting up to dance - so the people right in front of me would stand to see, so then I had to stand to see. arrrgh! If everyone just remains seated, we can all see! What is so difficult to understand about that? The screaming was so unnecessary - grown women (in their 40's) acting like teeny-boppers!

So if you stand during concerts, how do you justify standing, blocking the view of people behind you?

(by the way, Huey was fantastic - as usual. Chicago has never really been my thing - DH was always their big fan & they were surprisingly good. Horns were great and their new, younger singers did a good job.)

glad to hear you enjoyed huey-a good friend from my highschool and college days is one of his trumpeters and has toured with him for years, says he could not work for a nicer guy :goodvibes

I knew there was a reason I don't go to concerts....

I much prefer to spend my money on Broadway and opera anyhow...at least there you are almost guaranteed everyone will be seated! ;)

From the time I started going to Rock concerts when I was about 16, I never wanted to stand through an entire concert. Sure there are times to stand for a few minutes, but for 2-3 hours? Standers are welcome to be situated behind me. In fact, please continuing standing until I'm out of the parking lot. :rockband:

When I pay no less than $80 to see my favorites, I feel I am justified to stand and dance if I feel like it. It's a concert and music is for dancing. Now if they play a slow song or slow it down, I will sit. There is nothing worse than going to a show and getting stuck around drones who just sit and complain when everyone else around them is standing and dancing.

I agree w/ you OP, I think it's incredibly rude.

I agree - it is just plain rude - I HATE that. It is always a mystery to me - how people can have such disregard for those around them. It's almost as though they think they are alone in the world or that they are more important than all the other people around them. I don't get it and I never will. I cannot be convinced - period.
