I will never complain about Disney's food prices again

I agree with much that has been said, especially that Knoebles has great food. It has plenty of tree's for shade and plenty of places to sit. My parents loved to take their grandkid's there since you pay per ride and my parents don't ride the rides. A very quaint place.

I have noticed a decline in choices over the years and my DH had a hot dog from Casey that had a stale bun last week. I liked the old white bread buns much better.

Regarding the quality of food in NYC, we were by the World Trade Center (super touristy) and stopped for pizza, a dirty water dog and a knish. All more expensive than WDW and all inedible.

If you are looking for a high quality good food for the price in WDW, then get the combo plate (chicken and lamb) at Tangerine's in the Moroccon pavilion.

My family goes to Cedar Point every year, and I don't remember the last time I ate in the park. Prices are ridiculous. They have a nice pavillion right outside the main entrance where you can leave a cooler for food if you want. We usually stay inside the park though and leave for meals.

I don't think the CS prices at WDW are out of line at all. The food is good and you get quite a lot for your $. We've definitely paid more for less at other parks (Sesame St Place in particular was pretty gross).

However, the TS restaurants, IMO, are too expensive when you consider the quality and value. The buffets are also overpriced and the character meals are getting out of reach for many families. And then there's the ridiculousness of having to make ADRs 180 days in advance... ugh.

A picnic in the parking lot is something we do several times a year. We are near a local water park (Enchanted Forest Water Safari in NY) We go several times a year. You are allowed to carry your cooler in but we do not bother. I have a very small car. We get there early to park near the trees. I leave enough space so we can layout a nice blanket and enjoy a feast. Always a great time....
There is always a way to cut your budget if you want.
We have also bought the refillable cups and shared them with several people. Just take them in the bathroom and wash between use.
I love to travel and any way to save money is great....

Yesterday I went to Kings Dominion (a Cedar Point Park) and made an expensive mistake. My DH, DD and DD friend went to eat a CS meal. I saw that the hamburger and chicken sandwhiches were $6.98. I didn't see that the small fries were $3.49 and the drinks were $3.50!!! My DH ordered a large fry at $5.98!!! At least Disney gives you some fries and a drink for 7 or 8 dollars. Our lunch total was $59 for four people! The girls did get a dessert but shared a drink.
The real kicker was the food was horrible, my daughters chicken sandwhich was black, pure burned all over. She was too embarrassed to let me take it back. The rest of the food was bad as well. Sixty dollars and we are still hungy.
So Disney I think you prices are pretty reasonable and tasty.

We had the same experience on 4/3 at Carowinds in Charlotte, NC. $51 for 4 people -- 2 slices of pizza, 2 fries, 4 drinks, and 2 orders of chicken strips -- :scared1: Not to mention, the service was SLOW...I mean SLOW....

I would like to point out that personal reactions to the prices that you pay when you go to some destination are going to based on what you are used to pay for in your home town. And that you need to look at that.
For example a 1/3 lb bacon cheese burger with fries at Pecos Bill's is app $9. The same burger at a stand in Chicago is $14 with no fries.
Others have stated that they have no problem paying $50 for a steak dinner, well I'm glad they feel that they can afford to pay that much money for a meal. I think that the vast majority feel that that is too much. And that again shows a side to this discussion; what do people feel is a fair price on their return when they purchase meals.
I refuse to go to what I call dumps like McDonalds and the rest. Those have gone way downhill and the investigations have shown that their all beef burgers all all beef but not much meat tissue and soaked in and treated with a lot of chemicals before they leave the processing plant.
So what i'm trying to point out is that before you complain about WDW food and the prices look at what you are really comparing. A Mcd's junk burger?

Regarding the quality of Disney food..I think it ok in some instances and fantastic in others. :confused3 And while I'm not a food snob, I like food;).

One of the meals I had at Le Cellier was the best thing I've ever eaten(veal chop). The lamb chops I had at Hollywood Brown Derby were exceptional. I have my favorites for CS too..CHH is great. Believe it or not, in 9 trips, I have never had a bad meal at WDW.

The prices are high but I've always found the portions to be big. I have noticed that the buffets have gone up though and for me, they may not be worth it anymore. For someone that can put away multiple plates of food, yes. But usually after 2 helpings, I'm stuffed. Talking more about the dinner buffets. I still like Biergarten for lunch.

We usually go to Lake Compounce in CT during the summer. Their prices aren't too bad although the quality is meh. They have free soda all day though, which is nice. And the park is clean and they go after line jumpers, which is awesome, lol.

I agree with this compaired to anywhere else Disney is actually pretty reasonable and any parks that come close in price usually dont taste as good

"crap" was simply a metaphor tying what many of us used to feel about Disney quality and the current spiral downward that we're seeing now. Clearly they could never get away with serving crap.

Thanks Planogirl for cleaning up after me. You've been doing it for a lot of years around here.:thumbsup2

Boy - I haven't seen Peter Pirate around in a while!!! Reminds me of the good ole days on the rumors board :rotfl: Greg, Chad, Walts Frozen Head - been a long time!

I felt the same way with Hershey Park. I thought their food/drink prices were more expensive than WDW. A CS mean for 4 people for $59?! :scared1:

Ahhh, the good ole days. You forgot Another Voice and DVC Landbaron ... Didn't need to be reminded of Walt's Frozen Head though! Thanks for remembering Pooh!

When I hear folks complain about prices of anything I think back to sticker shock at prices in my past.

My worst sticker shock was coming back to the USA after living in Asia for three years during high school.I traveled alone to go visit colleges.LAX food prices :scared1:One look at the prices had my worried about the budget for my trip.I did not eat anything in my six hour lay-over there.Drinking fountain water only that stop. After I got to my first college I looked at their food service and prices to quality of the foods I like.I ended up buying my food at the local grocery store for most of my meals on that trip.

As an adult I know to expect high prices in captive food locations.I still sticker shock when I compare prices at places we go at home in AZ to those at vacation places.I try not to say anything because I do not want to upset other guests.

Happy eating and may everything you order be batter than you expect it to be.

I always liked Another Voice. I never did figure out who that actually was though. :confused3

I also remember Jeff and Matt among others. Manning is still around but whatever happened to BobO?

Holy crap where are you eating your burgers at in Chicago? :scared1: The best burger in town (Kuma's) being a fairly gourmet 10oz burger is around $12 and comes with fries!

right downtown at a number of vendors

I'm just glad to be living in a region where the McDonald's $1 Menu items are actually $1.

The burgers are not as bad at WDW as people say they are. Then again, I love eating burgers and couldn't care how bad they taste cuz I can always add condiments to add flavor.
