Strep throat! Luckily it was on the day we came home. But I was wondering if anyone else was sick this last week?

I remember back in 1976 everyone in my family got a terrible stomach flu, except for me. However, I kept getting cuts and bruises (even had to have stitches on my knee) and my mom got her hand slammed in the car door. It was an awful comedy of errors, so to speak. Somehow there was still enough magic to go around.

I'm curious too about others returning from the park, especially with all the worries about SARS. Anybody else sick after a recent trip?

Also, this post got me to thinking about souvenirs. Other than the flu (obviously that's out of the question), what's your favorite souvenir to receive from someone returning from the World? What's your favorite souvenir to give to family and friends?

OK, Wisconite here.
We went with our H.S. Band the week of Easter to WDW. In Wisconsin, we are talking no green grass or flowers or leaves on trees.

Florida, our kids got hit with Allergies in one wham! Usually allergies are a process you start getting in June, nope we had so many kids with red itchy eyes, sore throats, runny noses and no one had allergy medicine except Benadryl. Yup the sleepy medicine. I found a Walgreens at Cocoa Beach and purchased Claritin and it worked.

Thank God Claritin is over the counter, but way to expense.

I almost always come home with a cold after traveling... new viruses, dry conditions on the airplane and wham! a new bug.

I go about every three months and the only problem I have ever had as far as getting sick is my sinuses acting up.

I think that a coffee cup with WDW on it is a great souvineer if its for a adult (don't know too many kids that drink coffee ) but, I collect them from places I visit and keep them all on display in my kitchen area. nobody gets to use them though. I do give some as gifts and I know they are appreciated. as lame as it sounds I also collect t shirts and sweat shirts from the parks. last count I had over a hundred from WDW and Universal and I love them all. my fav is one with the castle was decorated as a cake (remember that?) and I also have one from Epcot that has a big hollogram type image of spaceship earth on it with mickey. sometimes I wear it there and it never fails a CM has to coment on my shirt. I got it back in 97 I think. oh yeah, another favorite was a 2000 Disney shirt I gave my mother as a gift. she was thrilled with it. she passed away in 2001 and it was in her stuff. very sentimental to me. well, enough rambling.. Linda going in 16 days!

Our whole group got the stomach flu last Halloween! It was awful! 3 adults and 4 kids and 1 bathroom! But we're going again this year! As for my favorite souvenirs, I like things I can use every day. Cups, work bags, earrings -- they make the magic happen every time I pick them up to use them!

This is my big fear. We only get to Disney once a year and my DH says this year is our last for awhile (he says there are other places to see...can you imagine that ) If we get sick, it'll really ruin our trip. So, I'm bringing water because we have read about people getting sick from the Orlando area water and my mantra is, "Did you wash your hands?" I'd even consider wearing a face mask on the plane, but DH said he wouldn't fly with me if I did. Has anyone ever gone so far as to ask housekeeping to come and change the blanket and bedspreads? I've read that they only change sheets and pillow cases between guests. What about air filters in the air conditioning vents? Oh, this thread has really keyed in on my phobia. I better quit before I actually make myself sick!

My niece got back on 4-12 and came down with strepp too!

Lot's of people get sick after plane rides. I did a few times.

Try to take vitamins next time.

oh my goodness they dont change the bedspreads and blankets between guests? I dont even want to think about what is on them. I think I'm going to be sick! how can I expect to sleep under nasty blankets or even sit on a nasty bedspread..YUK!

The WDW hotels will change your sheets daily but only if you request it. The claim that they don't do this so they may conserve water to help the environment...

Yes, but will they change the blankets and bedspreads? I can only imagine all the baby diapers changed on the beds and God knows what else. Linda another germaphobic here

On our last trip we saw the maids changing the sheets and blankets. If unsure, I am going to request this from now on. The only sickness I have ever got was sunburn LOL. The suncreen I bought at Disney was expired and when they saw my burn when returning the scren, they apologized and gave me a t-shirt coverup for the rest of my trip.

Just got back from WDW today. So far we are all healthy, and I didn't hear many people on the airplane coughing so hopefully we will stay that way.

A good friend of mine went to see family in Denver over spring break at the end of March. She came back with a cold which turned out to be pneumonia. We are talking a healthy adult and she ended up in the hospital several days feeling really bad!!! I blame the plane since she stayed with family. Even before 9/11 and SARS I was not much on flying, but now that mask might not be a bad idea. As far as blankets and bedspreads go YUCK. I have, however, always felt Disney hotels seemed cleaner than most. Lots of handwashing is definitely in order...Lacee
