I watched American Idol for the first time...

and actually, kind of, enjoyed it. So when do we find out who got booted from the island?

The only reason I watched it is because the first girl is from our area and it was on all the radio stations today.

Result show is on at 8:30pm EST tonight...one hour show....the first 45 minutes will be fluff...last 15 is the actual booting of a contestant.

Keeping my fingers crossed that Camilla goes tonight.

I cannot get over the press this girl gets! They didn't do HALF of this for Vanessa last year. My "guess" is she has a very busy PR team! Frankly it's turned me off....

I think she is talking about Diana DeGarmo. Diana's cute though, and she can sing.

Yes, Diana. I agree with Simon about her, she's a pop machine. Nothing unique, just a voice and a smile. I don't get her at all.

What bugs me is the promos say "KEEP VOTING for Snellville's Idol!" and it's all over the networks. I know this costs major money so I wonder who's paying for it?

Yeh I agree with you Robin. I don't care for Diana, she's way too "pageant" for me; when she performs it feels like every move was rehearsed over and over to make sure it's all perfect.

Surely it must be friends and relatives. I doubt that it's anything inappropriate such as the local government or sinister such as the Klan. LOL! I'd bet alot of the contestants get tons of local press.

Diana seems like she was one of those pageant kids (did you see that big dress and hair in the kid montage?), and they always creep me out. When she first tried out she reminded me of the kind of singer you'd find in a theme park show, definitely not pop star level.

Did someone say she is from Snellville? I remember someone telling me when I went to UGA, "Nothing good comes from Snellville." I took that with a grain of salt, but...

Simon was right as always. He says what I think (agreement rate of about 98%). Also, I get the sense his comments are meant to help those people rather than just "try and make good TV" like Ryan does when he insults Simon constantly.

Oh, and speaking of friends and relatives voting, DH thinks JPL is a Mormon. One week I was surprised JPL got in the top three, but after DH's comment, we theorized if he is Mormon, their entire faith may be calling in every week for him, which would explain it. Lol, we imagined them all getting contacted by the Elders to make the call

Whose the red head kid.? I watched his promo thing at the beginning and was shocked to hear the voice that came out of him. Besides forgetting the words I thought he had a great voice. Very effortless. There were a couple that were out of tune, IMO. I was kind of surprised at that too

The red head kid is John Stevens. He does have a good voice (reminds me of Josh Groban) but he's not fun enough. He needs to loosen up! Not idol material imo.

If it's her family and friends, which I DOUBT, they have to be rolling in dough! Snellville must be in on this, don't ask me why. I didn't realize why she turned me off until Simon mentioned the pageant thing last night.

I was not thrilled with any of the contestants last night. I like Latoya, Fantasia, John S and JPL just because I do, not because of last night's performances. Don't like Camille, Ms.Snellville and Jasmine just because I don't. I wonder who'll be in the bottom 3 tonight?

I agree. Her promo unfortunately reminded me of the tape of Jon Benet Ramsey that has played a million times in the news.
You are also correct that the Atlanta area media promoted the heck out of this kid.
