I Was Ready to Put Contemporary DVC Rumor to Bed...But

This information seems to be pretty conclusive. I wonder when we can expect an announcement or press release similar to what we have already seen for the AKV.

Though I do not expect sales will start for quite awhile, perhaps in a year or two. This timing would coincide with what some are speculating will be the time it will take for AKV to sell out.

If CRV is to be, then exciting times for DVC are ahead. All we need is a Disneyland DVC project.

Then again it could be an elaborate hoax. Though if it is, then someone at Disney has too much time on their hands.

Yes, this was posted at the beginning of the thread. The attachments with that application are from July. It was approved at the beginning of September. The Contemporary Suites application was submitted Nov. 6. :)

I KNEW someone would know (sorry for the duplications)! I don't understand something, though. Wouldn't it be logical that they already have applications and/or approvals for a DVC @ Contemporary before they go to this extent (plans submitted, applications, etc) for development of a construction compound? Neither the Contemporary Suites nor the DVC@DAKL have any attachments (at least not electronic ones), but surely something more must already exist somewhere? Here's where the expertise of a commercial project mgr/gen'l contractor/architect/engineer might come in handy - what else (of public record) would have needed to be filed, and where?

at the time - both Cont and AKL were in the running. Something changed and at present Cont was dropped (at least that is what the rumor mill is saying).

I really think Disney wants to see how well the new rehab at the Cont goes over. It is doing GREAT.

DVC would bring in more money than rehab the Cont - but the DVC project will take a long time. they could be finished with the rehab in a few months.

so far I haven't seem pictures showing what Disney is doing.

In addition to the applications on the water management site, I have seen the following on the comptroller's site:

Demolition permit, presumably for the north wing, and
Construction trailer compound permit.

The only thing that has specifically said DVC was the water management application submitted in July and approved in September. Either Disney is just being more careful about referencing DVC on this project, or their plans truly did change and the "Contemporary Suites" will not be DVC at all. I hope they're just trying to keep us in suspense and it really is DVC... :wizard:

please remember that the North wing is in bad shape. so they could need a demolition permit just to take down the walls and redo them.

the way they were described on the resort boards - this is not just a simply - fix the cracks.

some of the walls needed to come down and be rebuild.

the only thing that makes me thing it might be more is the amount of equipment and a site to put it on.

but here is hoping that the north wing goes down and a DVC resort goes up. boy after all this suspense I would hate it to be Cont suites....

Contemporary Suites makes a lot of sense. Although DVC can serve the function of All Stars Suites for people willing to pay more there are plenty of people who would be willing to shell out a bit more to get a standardized suite in a deluxe without going the DVC route. Oddly enough there are people who dont want to have all the trappings of home while on vacation.

Just a theory, but mabe what changed is the timing. Rumor, or fact depending on who you ask, is that SSR will sell out sometime next year. If the CRV was indeed to be the next resort, sales would probably not be able to begin for about 2 years. This would put DVC in the position of having nothing to sell.

Maybe DVC always planned on the CRV and the AKV. Due to the fact that they can move on AKV sooner (converting rooms and new construction vs demolition and new construction) sales can begin in early 2007 and that is why AKV became the next project.

On the AKV thread there is speculation that AKV will sell quickly. If this is true it is not unreasonable to think that work on the CRV will now begin.

When you consider the impending selling out of SSR and how quickly rooms can be brought online at AKV. It is quite logical that AKV would be first and CRV second.

Then again, whoever said that Disney was logical.

When will people believe, I posted well over a year ago

Take it from me

You will see

A MONORAIL

DVC

No spicey...the "walls" of the north wing are not, "that" bad. You seem to imply that someone staying in the north wing rooms could see daylight through the walls, which isn't true.

I'd simply say that folks should look at the big picture...the fact that a permit for a "dvc contemporary contruction trailer" area has been issued in an area near the resort is telling...and that people should draw their own conclusions from that. When combined with the fact that DVC was a major contributor to the WDC's latest earning statement, and that DVC is viewed as an industry leader..I think folks should draw their own conclusions as to the future expansion plans of DVD. :)

Yes, you are correct. I am glad you showed me my errors with your insightful analysis.

My dad works for the engineering firm working on the project so I can confirm its a done deal.

Many of the sliding doors were hanging wide open the 2 days we were there in mid-Oct. Would assume even the mild elements of Orlando would do damage to the rooms' interiors, not to mention an open invite for pest infestations.:confused3

In my mind, that was "the" tip-off that the building is coming down.

We were told the building was coming down by housekeeping. We checked out on Oct 1 and housekeeping told us on Sept 28 that we were the last guests in that room because the building was coming down. There were to be no more guests after Oct 1. Of course we all know that cast memeber and mousekeeping get a lot of false information, but this lady stated it pretty strongly.

I have no doubt there will be a DVC there, I just don't think it is going to be as soon as some think. I don't see them doing anything there until AKV is at the same stage that SSR is right now. When AKV gets to that point in sales and construction, I think the Contemporary will be announced.

As to the North Wing, I think asbestos removal is the primary concern right now.
