So I had a miserable day at work today. All I could think about was coming home and hoping onto the disboards (this usually makes me feel better). When I logged on I immediatley started checking my subscribed threads.

Last night I had responded to a thread to the OP. Tonight I check that thread and the OP says something to effect "thanks to everyone who posted except the sarcasim from Figmentguy". :guilty: I didn't mean for any sarcastic tone in my posts. After reading that I replied to the OP that I'm sorry if they thought I was being sarcastic.

Typing on the PC can introduce a bit of a language barrier. Perhaps I typed it poorly? Perhaps they read it incorrectly.

In that same post from the OP thanking everyone they ended with "Thank goodness most DISer's don't act like this. Obviously you need a little pixie dust sent your way." So now my bad day has gone miserable. I have never felt this way about the disboards. I feel sad and disgusted. I don't think the OP will believe me or my apology. SO yah, Now I'm just bogged down. That poster just stripped what little "pixie dust" I had left.

Thanks for listening.:sad1:

Hey try not to feel bad. It happens to all of us at one time or another. Something we say just didn't get across. All you can do is try to explain and apologize for the misunderstanding.
And I'm sorry about your bad day too.

Hey, thanks for the nice words. they were greatly appreciated.

or should I say "how very DIS'er of you!" hehehe (trying to shed light on a dark subject)

I saw the post you made and I can see how it was meant but also how it could be taken another way.

It does make you realise that much of our communication is not just lanuage it could be by expression or body lanuage and even in speach there is tone. My nature is to enjoy a discussion often taking a contrary point of view to make a good discussion, however on here I have to be careful that my style does not cause problems as people cannot see my smile grow bigger as they take the hook and line or the tone of comment which they can tell is tounge in cheek.

Its hard to express your true emotions and feelings over the internet. I would just let this roll off of your back and go on with your life. Just keep responding to the DisBoard as all comments are welcome, even if we don't agree all the time. That's what makes the board fun.

I am not sure which thread you are talking about so I cannot read it and tell you whether I think it could be construed as sarcasm.....

Was it a personal attack??? Personal attacks are not allowed on the Dis but neither is sarcasm....how about a link to the post so that I can read it???

You know how you meant it when you wrote it and if your conscious is clear that you meant it in the best possible way and not sarcastically then I would hope that the OP would accept your apology and also maybe read this thread as well where you say you were only trying to help..

Please do continue to Dis.....there are lots of very nice people here that welcome other's advice on their real life or just on Disney....

Hey, it happens sometimes. It's so easy for things to be taken in the opposite of what they're meant. You can either try to explain yourself or move on from it.

I hope your day is better today!:)

Don't worry, this happens all the time on the WWW...

I've been lambasted, discussed, insulted, even my child was dragged thru the gutter on the web. All by people who don't even know me.

We cannot personalize this stuff. What we "say" are only words on a monitor and it may be misconstrued easily by people who have something in their own souls that need reconstructing. Sometimes it's intentional, sometimes it's not, but either way I've learned or understood that our words can "speak" volumes.

Don't take it personally and don't reflect someone else's sore feelings or insecurities on who YOU are.

Anytime someone goes on a public forum to post a problem or a question they have to expect all kinds of responses.Good, bad and the ugly. It's all part of airing your dirty laundry. When I post about a problem I'm having I don't expect everybody to agree with my point of view.I graciously accept everyone's input and thank EVERYBODY who posts. Not just the one's who put the answers I want to hear (or read).
Bottom Line people:If you don't want to hear an opposite point of view don't post your question on a public forum on the internet.
FigmentGuy too bad that poster did not have the strength of character to just thank everybody for their responses and leave it at that.

Don't let it get you down. These are cyber people. Why should you care what "they" think?

I've had it happen to me too. One time I made an observation while I was at a fast food restaurant, so I brought it up here on the DIS and several people really got on my case about it. It bothered me at the time, but really shouldn't have.

And I used to start threads about my job. I mean, doesn't everyone get frustrated at their job sometimes? But one particular poster brought up other times that I vented about my job, like they were "keeping track" or something, so for awhile I pretty much quit starting threads about work. But other people vent about work all the time, so I decided not to let that one person dictate what threads I should start and what I shouldn't.

Most people here on the DIS are friendly. You will have a few bad apples, just learn to ignore them. They're not worth your time.

 I sure hope your day is better today!! You're right, when you type things to people they can't hear your tone, you know? It's very easy to take things the wrong way. Try not to let it bring you down. You apologized to the person and told them you didn't intend for it to be sarcastic so now you need to just put it behind you. Chin up!!

Aww, sorry that happened but it's happened to most of us. BTW, I have the Figment button pictured in your avatar. :teeth:

I responded earlier to the original thread you're talking about. I didn't think you were being sarcastic or mean. Please don't let it upset you! If you've been around here long enough it seems like it happens at some point, even when you're not trying to offend anybody. It's just so hard to convey emotions and tone of voice but again, I didn't take what you said as being sarcastic or mean. I hope you're day is better today!

Dont sweat the small stuff:goodvibes

I know... easier said than done....

All you could do is apologize....which YOU DID...

Hope you are having a better day today! Here's some pixie dust for you alone to brighten your day pixiedust: pixiedust: pixiedust: !

Here's some more for anyone else who may need some pixiedust: pixiedust: pixiedust: pixiedust: pixiedust: pixiedust: pixiedust: !:goodvibes

Hey I got slammed so bad one time I didn't post for several months...I still am very leery...:grouphug: Hope your day goes better.

I think we've probably all had an experience where someone took a post we wrote differently than intended. It can be hard to get your feelings across without body language or tone of voice sometimes. You apologized, don't worry any more about it.

(I am nosy and wondering what thread it was though. )

It was a very innocent non-controversial thread about Pepsi products if I recall.

"thanks to everyone who posted except the sarcasim from Figmentguy"
"Thank goodness most DISer's don't act like this. Obviously you need a little pixie dust sent your way."
Those kinds of posts are one of my pet peeves on the DIS. It's as if the poster can't just come out and say what they want, so they come up with a passive-aggressive sideways attack. I'm an up-front person. If someone has a problem with me, tell me. Don't go beating around the bush about how everyone else is better than me. Sheesh.

Perhaps the OP will see your apology and will apologize themselves.

(Darn the broken search feature!)
