for buying Sharpies. Yes, the markers. I am not sure if the reason was graffiti or sniffing them.

What is ironic is that my DD12 bought some sharpie minis at Staples about 2 months ago with no problems.

What is next?

My DH does model kits and is 30 years old. He's been carded for model glue, model tweezers (!) and a can of air for cleaning out our keyboard. That sort of stuff drives me crazy.

Ok carding for sharpies is weird.

And on the subject of Sharpies, why are they 2x as much money as other permanemt markers. I bought 12 of the Bic ones for less than 1/2 the price of 4 Sharpies. I get they are better but are they really that much better?

Last year our paper had a story about several high school kids sniffing sharpies out of a supply closet. Do you know how they caught them. The idiots used black sharpies and had gotten them too close to their noses and marked on the inside of their nostrils. Valedictorians I'm sure they'll be! :lmao: :rotfl2:

Carded for sharpies? That is so weird!

I had to show my driver's license and sign a logbook when buying a small box of benadryl for my allergy-suffering DH recently. I am not quite sure that tracking people purchasing such small amounts of these types of medications is the best use of our pharmacist's time, but whatever.

Many cold medicines are used to cook up Meth. The pharmacy could be found liable if they sold the stuff used to cook meth and somebody dies. Pretty ridiculous but I'm sure some idiot has sued over it and won and this is the reason for the policy!

Buying Advil Cold and Sinus is like trying to buy heroin now! I had to show my license, sign that I was taking it for the prescribed reason and was told that my use would be tracked. Now I understand the whole meth thing, but just what are you supposed to take for colds???

Apparently stores card you if you buy white out as well. I never understood the whole sniffing to get high sorta thing.

I was carded trying to buy those NO2 cartriges for whipped cream makers. It felt odd at the time but I guess kids sniff those as well.

As far as cold medication I have heard that in Oregon you will now have to have a prescription to buy nyquil ect. That I cant belive. Will you be arrested for driving to washington to pick up some nyquil when you bring it back to oregon over state lines?

I understand the med part, but sharpies and white out? Is there a limit or every purchase is carded? Geesh!!! Is there an age limit? Ya mean you have to be over 16 to buy markers?

Does anyone else feel like -
BIG BROTHER IS WATCHING!!!

I recently got carded for cough syrup. I was totally unaware that there was a problem with people abusing it until then. I can't imagine how people can drink that stuff for fun! :crazy2:

Kids use Sharpies for tagging everything. I'm sure that stores are looking at them like spray paint. I can understand carding someone very young who is buying Sharpies or Whiteout. Unfortunately, these days some kids will sniff and tag anything for a thrill. I know it's inconvenient, showing ID isn't a big deal. If it prevents one kids from buying something that could potentially hurt them, I'm all for it.

Was it Walmart? They are horrible there. It's like the cashiers don't know how to use their own heads. If their computer says to look at an ID, they don't know what else to do. I was once carded at Walmart for buying super glue, I also had a whole basket full of groceries and my 4 kids with me. :lmao:

Guess Lilly just has that more honest, less criminal look, Lesley. :confused3 :teeth: :duck:

BTW, nice picture of your family, the kids are sure getting big. :cool1:

Thats bizarre.

Yesterday, I got carded for buying the Date Movie Unrated version on DVD. I'm 26, and I joked with the cashier that if I were underage, there were many worse things I could buy than a DVD.

They card you for spray paint also ! The cold pill regulations are crazy because you need soooo much of the ingredient in the sudafed there is no way they are paying retail for it! It would totally ruin their profits.

Why should they have to know what "else" to do?

If they are required to check ID for a certain product (and it's more likely a state requirement, not Walmart requirement), then why shouldn't they do what they are supposed to do?

The states send in actors to test store carding policies and then fine the stores if they don't card. (And also often issue press releases trumpeting it.)

If it were my store or if I were the manager of a store and my butt was on the line if the state issued a fine, then I wouldn't rely on the judgement of cashiers - I'd require them to card everyone. If the customer had a problem with it, I would tell them to complain to their state government who put in the requirement in the first place.

You don't have to show an ID for voting? We have to give our street address and show our liscence to prove who we are.

Hey where did this guy :artist: come from. (I guess my ADD is kicking in)

Deanna :bored: :cat:
