I was almost named.....

Well if it were up to my grandmother it would of been Penny................my last name was Nickle.

I went to school with a girl named Penny Nichols :thumbsup2

I got the name Sarah after my great grandmother. Thankfully my parents went with Anne for my middle name and not my great grandmother's middle name - Bertha.

If I had been a boy I would have been Stephen named after my mom's friend who passed away while she was in the hospital having me.

It's a great name! She'll just be explaining that she's just Kate, not short for anything. I once had a lady argue with me that I was lying about my name! It doesn't happen often though.

My middle name is Elizabeth. Kate Elizabeth flows quite nicely in case you wanted an idea ! ;)

I had a best friend in middle school/high school whos name was Kate Elizabeth. She used to say she was "just kate" all the time.

My name is Aimee Renee. My great grandma named me. If my mom had named me, I would have been Renee. I would have been Daniel if I had been a boy (my brother later came along and is Daniel).

I wanted to name my daughter Nora and my son James. They are Juliana and Joseph (DH got his way with the names!). Both kids told me they're happy that I didn't get to name them.

I was nearly named Wilomena, my mom loved the name. (me - not so much!)
She changed her mind when I was born. I had a head of flaming red hair - everyone commented on it as a negative thing. (not to get political but I was born in a maternity hospital in a very protestant part of Belfast, we're catholic, it was early 70s and all)
So my mom decided to name me after a very fierce, very irish, pirate! I'm Gráinne, named after a pirate pirate:

Well, that was mud in their eyes, wasn't it? :rotfl:

My Nana never admitted to what had possessed her to name my Dad William. Many's the time he got beaten for it as a boy. He generally used Liam at home, though in the US he was known as Bill.

DS is named for Dad, and the first time we took him to visit, someone joked that, "It could have been worse; you might have named him Oliver, after all."

I was named something else and then when I was adopted my name was changed...

Birth mother or foster parents ( not sure which) named me Ann-Maureen

When I was adopted at 4 months of age my parents named me Nancy but my mom really really really wanted to name me Kathleen. My father said no because it was his sisters, mother and grandmothers name.

I got the girl name that my parents picked out, I would have been John Paul if I were a boy (traditional in Dad's family to name the first boy in the generation John).

My sister was going to be Amy Sue until someone figured out our last name started with an S and the initials wouldn't be a good idea.

When my Mom was pregnant my parents agreed that my Mom would name the girl and my Dad the boy. My Mom says the only reason she agreed to this is because she knew I was a girl.

My Mom wanted to name me Autumn but everyone told her how they didn't like it, so she named me Ashley. I would've preferred Autumn, Ashley is just too common! She was also thinking of the name Coral. :confused3 I'm kind of glad she decided against that one. :rolleyes1

My Dad wanted the name Michael Todd (Michael just because he liked it and Todd after his best friend). I'm an only child so he never got the chance to name the boy!

Everyone was convinced I was a boy. The name Shane was chosen; a girl's name was never even mentioned. Fast forward a couple months and surprise, definitely not a boy. Just like that, Shane became Shannon.

I'm Eden Elizabeth. I was almost named Elizabeth and would have been called Beth, but my cousin Bethany was born before me. If I were a boy, I would have been named Alec.

My parents only had a girl's name picked for me; my father was certain I'd be a girl and I was.

My name is Faith. My father picked it because he wanted something that could not be abbreviated or made into a nickname. And yet, my nickname growing up was Pakey, although my father never called me that.

I was almost Catherine Elizabeth(Patricia Christine instead).
My girl was almost Jorja(Jordyn instead).
My hubby & his brother are Artie & Elvis! Oh how I wish he was a jon, or jack!:lmao:

My name is Lauren but my closest friends call me Yuki. I was almost going to be Hannah, but my parents thought that Hannah and my last name sounded weird together. So they went with Lauren because they thought that was a beautiful name. I wish my name really was Yuki though. That'd be AWESOME!:cool1:

If I was a boy I would of been named Ryan. Ryan is my grandmothers maiden name. My youngest son we named William Ryan.

I was born August 10, 1954. My dad wanted to name me Enola Gay after the bomber that dropped the first atomic bomb 10 years previously. Thank God my mom put her foot down on that one. Then my dad wanted Suzanna because he was a great guiter player and could sing pretty good and loved the song Ole Suzanna, Again my Mom said NO and I ended up Susan Marie.
Can I just say I really LOVE my mom...............:rotfl2: Susan

I was almost Catherine Elizabeth(Patricia Christine instead).

Look on the bright side, at least you got Artie and not Elvis!

If I would have been a boy, my name was going to be Nathan Erroll (for Erroll Flynn :scared1: if anyone remembers him from the 50's I guess).

If my son would have been a girl he would have been Jennifer Kay.

If my daughter would have been a boy she would have been Blake Edward.

I was the second child and the second girl born,my father was waiting for his boy so my mother was going to name me Rhonda Lee(my father's name is Ronald). But after I was born she looked at me and said I didn't look like a Rhonda and changed my name to Kathleen Ann,always thanked her for that. Nothing personal to any one named Rhonda I just like Kathleen better. Oh and by the way Dad got his boy, the 4th and 5th children were boys.
