Gina Marie. And if I was a boy - I would have been Adam.

What is your name, and what were you *thisclose* to being, instead? :listen:

I was almost a "Susan" but my mother's sister had a baby girl a few months before I was born, and she "stole" the name from my mom for my cousin.

It's just as well. "JerseySusan" doesn't have the nice ring that JerseyJanice does. ;)

Hadley is the only name my parents ever considered for a girl. Had I been a boy, Dad wanted Ernest (after Hemmingway--Hadley was his first wife) and Mom wanted Paul (after McCartney). I hope Mom would have won that battle:lmao:

I was almost AKL_Lauren!!! (My name is Meaghan, BTW...)

If I had been a boy, I would have been named Mark Robert Joseph... after my dad and grandfathers.

I was born in December so my mother was going to go with Holly. Thankfully, she did not as my first husband's last name began with Holly....

I don't feel I look like a Holly anyway. :)

Well...for some reason, my parents never even considered the fact that I might be a girl (they didn't have an ultrasound...they just decided that I was a boy and that was that). So I was actually Frank Joseph Jr. for a while when I was born.

My father then said I would be Rose Elizabeth (for his mother and grandmother). Then he switched it to Elizabeth Rose. Then one day while my mother was sleeping, someone told him that his grandmother's name was Elizabeth Catherine. He had the birth certificate filled out right then and there, and told my mother when she woke up.

I like Hadley

I would have been Patricia my dad loved that name my mother had loathed it

The other possibility for my name was Sarah. In fact, my great-grandmother was quite put out when she found out they'd named me Amy. Turns out, her real name was Amy and she hated it so much that she went by Harriet instead--and no one had had ever heard this before. :lmao:

I prefer Amy if Amy and Harriet are my only choices. ;)

And if I had been a boy, I would have been Richard after my dad.

Abigail. They lived on Abigail Drive at the time, and thought it would be cute for the first born to have an "A" name.

Why they changed it to Deborah I never could figure out.

My sister was going to be John. She was conceived at about the time of JFK's assasination, and EVERYTHING was being named in his honor. They were so convinced she was going to be a boy, they had no girl names picked out. It was only on the last day of my mom's hospitalization that the nurse said they HAD to pick a name, because the birth certificate papers needed to be filed.

I was supposed to be Laura. My Mom's cousin's husband's sister (if you can follow that, no relation to her) had a baby girl a few months before I was born and named her Laura and the baby died. So my Mom had to come up with something else because she thought that was a bad omen or something so I'm Karen. She never told me what the "boy" name for me was I have to ask her. I know my brother was supposed to be Christopher but she didn't want people calling him Chris so he is Bryan. It seems my Mom wasn't a fan of nicknames!

Marianna or Mark.

Luckily I got neither.

I really wanted to name my oldest Basil is she was a boy. My husband really didn't. A girl solved that problem. I wanted to name my youngest Lorne is she was a boy. Lucky for my DH she was a girl too.

If I had been born a boy, my name would have been Ian Malcolm LastName. Two funny things about this name. When I was about 6 I got a Cabbage Patch doll and guess what his name was.... Ian Malcolm!!!! Also, Jeff Goldblums name in Jurrasic Park was Ian Malcolm.

For whatever reason, even though I was born a girl, my parents still have me the Malcolm as a middle name.....

I would have been Suzanna, but my parents decided on Deborah instead.

I have the most common name in the whole world Jennifer I go by Jenny or Jen

Hi Jenny:) I DID always have at least two Jennifers and two Heathers in every school year (except the year I lived in Spain--9 different schools on all)--but I like the name.

I notice both the Deborah's who post spell it out the long way. I always liked that.

I was supposed to be named Layla, after the Eric Clapton song, but it rhymed with my last name so my parents decided against it.

I'm Karen but they were considering Nancy or Michelle but my mom didn't want anyone to call me Shelley, lol. If I was a boy I would have been James.

My sister named me.

I don't think my mom ever even considered a name for me......I was a surprise baby.......she thought she was beyond child bearing years......:rotfl:

I will have to ask my sister what she was planning on naming me if I would have been a boy.
