We went to a Christening today and while there the family of friends of ours were discussing a recent trip to Disney. DH thought I was going to explode listening to them. After that recent trip a girl with no kids swore up and down she will not take her kids to WDW until they are at least 8 or 10 because they would just be miserable. Then another friend said she wouldnt either because they wouldnt remember it.
Then we got talking abut the first girls honeymoon coming up next year. They are going on a cruise but taking 3 days before it to go to Disney. Well, she named a few hotels they might stay at "in Disney" of course the only one I recognized was Grovesnor in DTD, but the others may be there too(Im not very familiar with those ones). Anyway she specified that she wanted a place where she could take a bus to "MGM, Disney, & Epcot".

Of course I was very polite but I had to throw in how my 3yo has been 4 times and will be going again before he turns 4, and my 6 yo has been 5 times and how they absolutely love it. I didnt bother going into the whole.."Disney is MGM and Epcot" thing. ;)

I know exactly how you feel. Sometimes it's just not worth the effort

I agree there are some people who think they know it all and just don't want to listen. I used to work with a guy who was planning a trip to Disney. I offered to help in any way I could and was told - I don't need help I've been to Disney before. He then got on the phone and called his travel agent to book him a suite at All Stars since he was traveling with his Mother and wanted her to have her own room. It took all my control not to laugh.

He then came back and when I asked how it was he said it was ok but he didn't think he needed to go back he saw it all. I asked about some of my favorite attractions and the answer to just about all of them was "oh, I didn't do that".

Just amazing!

While on our trip last February, we were at MGM and had just gotten on our bus to go back to the Beach Club Villas, when a man got on the bus and asked the driver how to get to Walt Disney World. The driver explained he was at WDW, but the guy was very insistent on wanting to get to WDW - so the driver told him how to get to MK. After the guy got off the bus the driver said it's amazing how many people think that the Magic Kingdom is WDW!!!!!!

Oh, my aunt and her family, told me they did all 4 parks in one day..............quit laughing, she really told me that!!!!!

:p :p :p :p

Lemme guess...she did Adventureland, Frontierland, Fantasyland and Tomorrowland? ;)

I love it when I get people who haven't got a clue, leaving in three days and they don't know the first thing about it. Then I tell them I've been ten times, stayed a week for all but two of trips and there is STILL a boatload of things I haven't done. Plus, I carry around my Birnbaum guide, so that I can check to see if there's anything I'm missing.

I started making a "Suzanne's pointers" document in Word and I put all those little things that make a trip special in it. Now I give it to friends when they go...makes me feel better that maybe they might get to experience why I love WDW so much! That doesn't help those who think the four parks are Disney World, Sea World, Universal Studios and Busch Gardens, though!

Everyone is entitled to their opinions right? And they can plan their vacations however they want, after all it's their time and money. :D

There is bus service from DTD it just only runs every hour instead of every 20 minutes.

I hope she has fun :)

"I didnt bother going into the whole.."Disney is MGM and Epcot" thing"

LOL- we have some good friends who are planning a trip later this winter but the dh says they are only going to "Disney and Epcot" I have told him over and over that Epcot IS Disney.... his wife just rolls her eyes and tells me not to bother. He means The Magic Kingdom and Epcot..... naturally. LOL

ROFL...at all of these.

It wasnt so much that she didnt know much about it. There are parts of WDW that I dont know much about either. The part that really got me was that she knows her kids, who dont even exist yet, will be miserable in WDW until they are at least 10 or 12. Between my two kids we have been at every age up until 6(7 in December) and they have always had a blast. Not to mention the priceless pictures, videos, and memories.

These are the type of people that I never offer tips for touring the world to. I just smile and say Have a great time. Then snicker to myself. I know it's mean but they know everything anyway.

I did wait until my kids were old enough to remember it (6 and 8)- not because I didn't think they'd like it though. For those who fit into the "once in a lifetime" category I do think that is worth waiting for.

disykat, I was going to say that in my last post, but I see I never did. I definitely think if you are only going once, waiting to the kids are a little older makes total sense.

Ahhh I understand! I have a relative who told me he and his wife have been to WDW. They also did it all in one day! And he was insistent that they had done it all. So what did they do I wonder -- hit one attraction in each park and be done with it?
