I want to write a trip report!

The trip reports on this board are terrific! I want to write a trip report and a dining report for my trip this September but I want it to be as detailed and as colorful as the ones I read here. I know how to post pics, so that'll be no problem, but to those of you who have written these awesome reports let me ask you this: Do you taked notes while you are there? Do you write it on paper as you go? I'm not paying for internet at Pop! Any tips from the pros?

I'm by no means an expert on this (currently writing my first TR), but here's what I did:

Our travel agent gave us a little notebook that had a "Daily Highlights" sheet for each day. We just filled that out each night. (Well, except for our last day, so good luck to my memory when I get to posting that one!). I think the key things are making a list of the order of things you did (including food) and making a note of any interesting stories that you'll want to tell (otherwise you might remember the story, but not on which day it happened...was this on Tuesday's BTMRR or Thursday's BTMRR? You want just enough notes to jog your memory later, but not so much that it takes up so much time you don't do it daily.

We also took a lot of pictures and video. This (especially the video) has proved helpful when we're trying to fill in the blanks in our notes. Like the order in which things happened (sometimes our memories at the end of the day when we wrote the notes were not so accurate). I've been reviewing the pictures and video for each day as I write about that day on the TR.

I do a couple of things: I take some notes while I'm there, if I think about it, but I also use twitter & facebook from my phone - so I can piece together what we did/order/time frame based on the pictures we took & what DH & I posted to twitter or facebook. It works pretty well for us.

I have a "TR Journal" and whenever we get a break during the day, or when we go back to the hotel at the end of the day, I just write down our events of the day. The pictures I take also help out to see what order we did everything, if I get confused Hope this helps

Not sure if this would work for everybody but it works for me. I keep taking pictures wherever I go all through the day. Each image file will have a time and date stamp. That way I know exactly where I was at what date and what time. And when I look at the pictures, it will trigger my memory what happened that date.

I am just too lazy to take note. By the time I write any thing down, I could've taken more pictures.
