Has anyone stayed one night each at a different DVC place intentionally? Stories about the hassle vs. enjoyment?

Well, yes the
calendar is full but I really want to experience the best of all resorts as soon as possible so here’s what I’ve lined up- BLT, Poly, CC, RR, AK-J. I have two more days to plan once my resales points drop.
I’ll waitlist for a double or triple day stay but maybe I’ll cancel that idea and we finish the quest to stay in all of them. (We ate at GF and Poly so those might be for next time. Stayed at BW and AK-K.) BCV I’m looking at you. (I know, Good luck!) Thinking BRV can be a stop on our free day at CC and the night before the airport is either OKW or SS.)

My husband and I went on a monorail date early on in our WDW adventures so this is kind of a spinoff on that. The 3 of us pack super light with everyone rolling their own small rollaway. (Tempted to do just a backpack- I do have a Locker that holds some stuff in Orlando.)

Look forward to checking out Community Halls, the transport, spend a day off at Wilderness, try the food, hang in the shops. Is this crazy? Lol. My family is in!

We did three 2-night stays on our "try out to choose a home resort" trip before we became DVC members, and it wasn't bad at all. I was expecting to hate it, but it honestly wasn't that bad. However, there's really no way I would recommend one night stays because you are "homeless" every day between 11am and 4pm (at least--our OKW check in was running late and we didn't get our room until close to 6pm). So you might not really get to enjoy each resort. If you know for sure you'll be at the parks all day I guess it could be fine, but when heat or wait times are bad, our favorite part of staying onsite is being able to retreat to the resort for a bit midday for a swim or relaxation, and that won't be an option if your room isn't ready.

I’m thinking the pool retreat will definitely happen around 3pm, shower and pick a place for early dinner on site before heading back to the park. Timing is such a that the crowds and weather will likely cooperate. Sad part is that it will be such a whirlwind at each resort. Still it will satisfy my curiosity and prep me for future planning. All of my other trips are usually a year in advance so this last minute stuff is kinda crazy for us. We are having fun exploring and making the most of the situation.

We stayed i think 4 nights at SSR, then 1 night at BWV, 1 at BLT, 1 at PVB then 1 at AKV. It was a lot of moving, we drive and had our vehicle. I don’t think would do it again. 1 night is not enough time at a resort, especially when you go to a park every day.

But you might not have access to your room at 3pm is the point I was trying to warn about. I would just say keep looking and if you can combine at least some of the 1 night stays to a 2 night that might be easier.

Lol! True. I get what you are saying and wanted to lounge at the pool until the room is ready. So hmmm maybe 3:30-4:30 until ready. The luggage wil move with bell. I guess I never had a late check in yet so we will just see.

I am thinking since we will be without a car it will be easier. Just leave the park on Disney transport.
I kinda want to do it while I still can... We usually take a break everyday but maybe I should look into at least one two-nights.

We are planning to this exact thing in August of this year, and I'm so excited. Glad to see we are not the only ones trying this. We have stayed at Disney dozens of times in many different resorts and became DVC owners about a year and a half ago. We have never done a split stay however. I actually think it will be easier if we are just at each place one night since there will be no temptation to unpack.

Our Thinking: Sending our 5th kid off to college and wanted a fun "empty nester" celebration.
Just renewed AP's and want to use them.
Would like to try out a few DVC resorts we have never tried without a big commitment.
More restaurant choices than if we stay in one place.
Only spotty availability for August this week when I booked.

Our Plan: Pack a carryone bag with clothes and toiletries and a park bag with swim stuff and park stuff.
Plan a late-ish table service breakfast each day to enjoy morning at the resort.
Bring larger bags to bell services before breakfast and carry park bag with us.
After breakfast take bus/boat to the close park for a few hours.
Around three take bus/boat to next DVC resort for pool time/ resort exploration. (depends on rain)
When we can get in to the room( between 4 and 5 or even 6), get bags from bell services, shower and change.
Plan a table service dinner at the resort or evening park.
Some days visit a close-by park for a few evening hours.
Repeat.

Our DVC resorts: BLT, BCV, BWV, OKW, CCV (I actually planned the dates of this trip around the one lonely day a BCV studio was available.)

We know that we will not be rope dropping, but that's ok. We are also going this month and in November, and almost always rope-drop. We really just want to do something different and enjoy lots of good food and hopefully have some pool time. If it is rainy some afternoons we may swim in the morning or evening.

Best of luck to you in your planning, and have fun!!

Our plan is the same! I finally outgrew rope drop (most of the time!) so yeah I’m not the lonely one. Haha!! Thanks for the reply. It sounds great to me!!
Here’s a caveat that just came to mind. Our suits will be wet so may have to throw in dryer, feel icky for one minute or skip a day.

I feel this works best if exploring resorts is your first priority and park time is a distant second. When we do split stays, on transfer day we can’t really do the parks on our usual schedule. One other thing, 1 night may not be enough time to get the full experience of a resort. I’d probably do 2 nights each for something like this.

At least all the DVC resort have free laundry! I plan to bring gallon bags in case they are wet.

I think parks aren’t a priority this time because we already went once this year. But given the cost, yah the parks! Must prioritize the parks. Maybe I’ll do a leisurely morning at resort 1 and just a quickie at resort 2 in the afternoon.Rinse and repeat. We will have a day off of parks at one stay so we will have a lot of time for a favorite.

I've done a 3x and a 4x split stay, with kids. I love split stays! Disney moves your luggage. It can sometimes take a while, I don't care.

The locker does make this harder, because you need to get it down to Bell Services somehow, and they were definitely running lean in April.

It's just a different style of travel.

For the locker, I was going to grab all the necessities for the trip and throw it in my half filled luggage. Send it back. Then get it again on my last day of the trip to return items and send it back. That way I don’t deal with it throughout.

We always do split stays- we love experiencing different resorts and dining and park proximity...
Personally I dont understand when you will actually get to explore the resorts if you are also doing parks. Without parks, I could see this working.
If you are eating late breakfast at resort, then leaving for a park, when do you explore that resort?
Then maybe you get to a park ( transport, security, head to whatever inside) by noon? Then head to another resort at three ( travel) for a pool hour, and go to BS to drop luggage? Go back to BS to get your luggage. Early dinner you thought so you'd need to be changed and back and forth to room for that. Then back to a park so no resort activities....
IMO its fun and a great idea if you are there for teo nights minimum, and reduce park expectations. Even heading to a park for one or two things can take a couple of hours...

This is what I was loosely thinking. Switched a hotel or two. Still need to book AK and last day when points drop.

Day 1 arrival.
MK. 8am-2:57. 3pm-6pm hang at BLTpool eat, explore rest. 6pm-9pm back to MK. Top of the World. (Explored before on monorail date.)

Day 2
Leave around 9am to
AK. ** AK-J ** 430-630 sunset and dinner back at resort savannah then back to eve in park. Explored before.

Day 3 Rest day. Leave after 10 am savanna feeding. CCV
Explore FW all day, evening. Stay until late morning. New area.

Day 4 MK leisurely arrival POLY
We have explored here a bit. Second MK day. Play it by ear.

Day 5
EP Riviera. Early lunch. Maybe morning by the pool before Epcot. Maybe return. Late night at Epcot.

Day 6 Leisurely HS **Saratoga. ** I don’t know when I would explore this. Maybe in the morning when everyone sleeping or ???? we will be back. Shopping at Springs is not that fun for us.

Day 7
Late morning ride to airport to second destination where we will stay in the same place for 3 nights!!

I guess I will wake up early and explore whenever possible. :) With this plan I am hitting 6 new DVC for a total of 9. I plan to stay in all sooner than later. If BC comes up, I will likely exchange for BLT and do double Epcot day instead of MK. And then considering an exchange GF for Poly. Maybe. And maybe low point Boardwalk (been there) for Saratoga. Maybe. I’m pretty satisfied though.

My daughter said she wants to do MK twice this time like I thought since she discovered a love of roller coasters. Looks like we will hold in place. Next, next time I’ll have to do GF.BC.BRV.OKW to complete my personal quest. One day within the next decade - I hope to do the last 2 of 6 castle club.
Also to answer question about when will I explore if I’m eating, meals are followed up with or preceded by walking around the resort. I hope it will all work out!

I too have the desire to stay at all the resorts and do like split stays but I learned quickly 1-2 days is not enough time for me to properly explore the resorts. Perhaps I’m still at the stage where I do want to maximize my park time (I’m a west coaster) and I prefer table service for meals. Booking single split stays means I don’t have any advantage really at booking dining reservations. Also on transition days I make sure I’m in the park all morning/afternoon since homeless, and then I worry when my luggage will arrive on time. They say can be as late as 5pm. I usually have a car but I still use bell service for my large luggage. Remember if you don’t have a car you are dependent on Disney transportation which can waste up to 1-2 hrs to get to destination. I think once the parks isn’t all shiny and new to me anymore and I’ve tried all the restaurants, I would be more interesting in resort stays and just focus on exploring the resorts. Right now I think I still want at least 3 days at a resort to have that opportunity to explore it while also doing parks and TS dinners.

Considering the dining advantage, we like Yak and Yeti as our tradition (with Landry’s card now) and have been to all the hard to get places in the past so we are flexible as to where we eat now as long as it is new and decent. I stalk and somehow find things. The homeless part doesn’t concern me because 11-4 is when we will be at the parks! The transport is mainly monorail, skyliner or boat. Only a few buses.
