"I Want To Go Back!!!"....a Sept 2010 PTR(upd 10/12-TR Started!)

I don't know if I told you this before, but we have been to the MNSSHP and MCMCP.....I looooved the Halloween one much more!!! It just seemed more fun---I like the fun-spooky stuff! The Christmas party we got rain and it was sooooo cold we had to buy mittens and hats!!!! My boys want to go back to the Christmas party for the gingerbread cookies and the hot chocolate...they don't even remember the 'party' part!!!!! Mike said, I can buy cookies and cocoa and save about $200!!!! The Halloween parade is soo cool...then the characters are hysterical!!! I am so glad you are getting to go--and the fall decorations are beautiful!!!!

Very true about buying cookies and cocoa!!! :rotfl: I love seeing the pics of the fall decorations. Fall is my absolute favorite season! I watched a clip of the Halloween parade and I loved it!!! The floats are amazing and I can't wait to see the Headless Horseman. How cool is he?!

Hey girl!! Let me just say I LOVE all your recent clothing purchases!! They are fabulous!! I am totally with you on NOT wearing t-shirts in hot weather. It's so uncomfortable!! I think it's awesome that you are planning on wearing a dress in the parks! I may do that..we'll see. The reason I don't is because I worry about wardrobe malfunctions. And then I realize that those are pretty much guaranteed if you have a toddler and are not wearing a turtleneck. Definitely looked back on some PhotoPass pics from last time and there was definite bra showing from Landon grabbing on to me! :rotfl:

Oh and speaking of WDW videos not changing very much from year to year...you should see their wedding video. It is like it has not changed at all for over a decade! Me and Stephanie watched it this past weekend and it was just seeping with bad 90s hair and dresses. I did not feel like the possibilities of a fairy tale were being revealed, I felt like I was watching a comedy! It was SO BAD!! :rotfl2:

T-shirts + heat = YUCK!!!! I totally hear you on wardrobe malfunctions and a little one!!! I wouldn't want to worry about that while on vacation.

I can't believe the wedding video is so dated! At least the people in the planning videos are wearing up-to-date clothing. I'm so shocked that Disney wouldn't update something as important as a wedding video. Crazy!

Great Disney day! I didn't know Netflix was streaming through the Wii yet?! I may have to rejoin...

I love your idea of theming your outfits to match your park or restaurant. I am definitely going to look for that Hula girl shirt at Kohls - Lucy would love it, and it be perfect for our Ohana day! Like the leopard tank, too - Old Navy, you said? Oh, and I'm totally for dresses at WDW. Very cool in the heat. I have a knit babydoll dress from Old Navy a few years ago that I've worn several times at WDW. Its very comfortable!

Netflix through the Wii is awesome! You can even go online and add things to your instant queue!

Thanks!! The Hula girl shirt is so cute. You should definately go buy one! The leopard tank is from Old Navy. It also comes in grey! Glad to hear there are others who love dresses at WDW. The ones I got from Target are so lightweight and comfy.

I should clarify that I did not buy all those things on the same day!!! :rotfl: As soon as I saw the hula girl shirt at Kohl's, I immediately though of 'Ohana. I was thinking about the orange shirt with the flower for 'Ohana as well. I hate picking out clothes each morning, so planning them out makes me less stressed. I can just wake up and know what I'm wearing that day. It also helps me cut down on overpacking. For our Jan trip (which was 8 days/7nights), I think I brought at least 12-15 shirts!!! When I don't plan out my clothes, I MUST have options. :goodvibes

I think I'm going to follow your lead on planning outfits everyday. Otherwise, I'll end up overpacking!! They already charge enough to check bags, I could do without an overweight baggage fee! :)

We had a travel show yesterday for work and the Disney rep brought a whole bunch of Disney planning DVDs. I snagged two. One for me and one to pass around to the Disney virgins that are traveling with me! :rotfl:

Awesome!!!! Luckily, we always fly with an airline that doesn't charge for checked bags (JetBlue and now Southwest). Can you believe that some airlines now want to charge for CARRY-ONS!!!! :scared1: That is just plain ridiculous.

I love the planning dvd. Maybe Madison and I will pop it in again tonight and watch the rest of it. I need to watch the section on special events (like MNSSHP!).

My DD really enjoyed Alice in Wonderland too. She asks to watch it occasionally still but we do not own it. I am considering picking it up while it is out of the vault but we will see. Are you thinking you are going to do the Alice in Wonderland themed costumes for MNSSHP?

I agree with the backpack--I think we have settled on carry a backpack over another style bag. We think it will be much more comfortable than a messenger style bag. Of course, I have my own for my cameras and other essentials.

I love how park bags and shoes are some of the main things discussed here on DIS. :rotfl: :thumbsup2

I think it's fun that you are planning on coordinating you outfits to your park days and ADRs. I know a few other TRs that I have read where people did that. I did that for a past trip that I took with one of my close friends and not only did we try to match the park we were going to, we had to make sure our outfits coordinated with each other too! :rotfl:

I do have to say that even with so little time left before my trip, you have me wanting to go out and buy some more clothes. I really like the idea of the leopard print tank for AK! May have to borrow that idea.

I've worn skirts/dresses around WDW before and loved it. I think it was more when we were touring Epcot's WS, but then again, I tend to live in them during the hot months. I say, as long as you're comfy, go for it! Love the cute clothes for Madison too. :thumbsup2

I LOVE "Alice in Wonderland" and I'm so happy that we got to watch it together as a family. My DH was laughing at all of the random things (Tweedle Dee and Tweedle Dum's story about the oysters, the Mad Tea Party, etc). I'd love to do "Alice" themed costumes, but I don't know if my DH will do it. I really want to be the Queen of Hearts!

I think my DH will finally agree to carry a backpack. It will be much more comfortable (and durable) than the messenger bag he carried last year. Plus, he won't have to take it off very much. I can just reach inside and get what we need.

It is quite funny how much people discuss park bags and shoes on the DIS. Speaking of shoes....Madison wears her Mary Jane crocs, I wear ON flip flops and my DH wears good old sneakers. I despise wearing sneakers except if I'm at the gym. I wear flip flops from April to Oct/Nov here in Buffalo, so I do just fine with them at WDW.

Planning outfits to match parks/ADR's is so much fun! I highly recommend it. I have tried to coordinate my clothes with Madison's before, but it doesn't bother me if we "clash" a bit. Go right ahead and borrow my leopard print tank idea for AK. Isn't it the cutest? I do think that dresses at Epcot will work the best. I can't really see myself climbing onto RNRC or BTMRR in a dress. That would be an accident waiting to happen with me!!!

Southwest doesn't fly out of NJ. :sad2: And JetBlue is expensive out of Newark. We usually fly with Spirit out of Atlantic City and they're the ones charging for carry on luggage now! I guess I can understand where they're coming from because some people bring things on that shouldn't be carry on and there is nowhere to put it. Those people ruined it for everyone!

I have yet to watch the planning DVD. Have you ever been to MNSSHP?

Well that stinks!!! I can't believe they are charging for carry-ons. I think it's because people didn't want to pay to check their luggage so all they brought was a carry-on. Some airlines really try to nickel and dime people.

We've never been to MNSSHP before! We're so excited!

The airfare with spirit is a lot cheaper than other airlines. For our trip, I think the price roundtrip was $187. From Newark on Jetblue or Continental it's $260! That's a big difference. I'll just pay to check the bag (it's only $19) and won't bring a carry on. They do allow a personal item, they haven't taken that away from us yet! I'll just make sure it's a very big purse. :lmao:

You're going to love MNSSHP! Don't miss the parade! It's amazing! And look out for raisins! (Unless you like raisins) :rotfl2:

Wow! That is a lot cheaper! Yes...you must bring a big purse!! :rotfl: On our past flights, I've always brought my VB hipster and either a large tote OR a small rolling suitcase as my carry-on.

I've heard nothing but great things about MNSSHP. I'm not worried about doing the rides. I really want to see the parade, the fireworks, the villians and the characters in their costumes. We have plenty of other time planned at MK to do all the attractions. I actually love raisins!

I plan on buying a hipster before the trip. I was just looking at them online actually! I already have a mini-hipster that I got for my trip last year. I think you can bring backpacks as a personal item too so the guys will be set. I just have to make sure I can pack everything in my checked bag and that it's not overweight. Shouldn't be a problem though. It'll be mostly summer clothes and flip flops!

Ok good because I got about 20 boxes of raisins as well as loads of candy last year!

The regular hipster is fantastic! You'll be able to hold more than the mini. Backpacks and totes are usually considered a personal item and not a carry-on. Same thing with laptops too. Even though with SW we can each check 2 bags, that's not going to happen. We'll check 3 like we usually do. Tony and Madison usually share our huge one (her clothes are so tiny). I get a medium one all to myself (I bring every color flip flop under the sun) and in the past, the 3rd one has snacks, towels and Madison's booster seat. Well, we're not getting a car on this trip, so that 3rd suitcase will just be snacks and towels. It's great because on the way home, we don't have anymore snacks so we use it for souvies!!! :goodvibes

Wow! 20 boxes of raisins! That's nuts!

That's a good idea to use a suitcase for souvies! Maybe I'll check an extra, somewhat empty bag and use it for that on the way home. Always thinkin, you are! :thumbsup2

Some of the hipsters are on sale, certain colors. I saw one I really liked, I forget the name of the print but it's brown and pink. That would match a lot of what I have!

We are going out of nj with Spirit, in September. But, we bought our tickets before April 6 so we don't have to pay for carry on bags. We were grandfather in.

For the Halloween costumes, since it will September and warm, you could do a shirt with DISign that is Alice inspired. Like a picture of the Mad Hatter's Hat for DH on a shirt and the Queen of Hearts for your shirt. Just a thought...:rolleyes1

Shoes: We are Keens fans and alternate them with flip flops on days we do not wear them. So we will be packing them for sure. I actually want to get a new pair of flip flops and need to get on that so I have time to break them in before Disney. I have ON ones now but I have heard good things about Reef ones so I think I am going to try those next. :goodvibes

I know you have your tickets already but have you ever thought about the autotrain? not sure if it is close to you or not but i have read great things about it. :thumbsup2

You will LOVE the Reefs-- they mold to your feet incredibly! I normally LIVE in ON flips, but these were the BEST for the miles we walked during our trip.

Meghan, your Disney day sounds fun! Maybe reminding Tony of how great Alice in Wonderland is will inspire him to want to dress up for MNSSHP! I think that is SUCH a cute idea!
